I would assume that 1.8 patch will be out sooner [;)][:D] ...but you just can't be sure about that [:D]

Actually, it doesn't take anymore 15-20 minutes to get PBEM turn ready so basically it is as fast as the game vs AI [:)]

PBEM's are great and the only downside is the fact that you just don't know whether your opponent will be there to finish the game [:(][:)]

Yes, it is valuable to have at least few fighters in China early on. I can't wait to have some Spitfire squadrons ready since they can make quite an impact [:D]

I would guess that he will be moving to Burma with force... what else he has in mind is anyones game since he will have more troops coming from Manila soon enough [:(]

Well, playing WitP is sort of on/off-thing for me. Sometimes I play lot every day, sometimes I don't fire it up for week or two. That'd make it difficult to have PBEM game going.

so long as you make that clear to your opponent at the outset i don't see a problem with it. There is no law that says " Thou must return games ASAP" .. If you find someone who is happy to have occasional game spurts then fine . For people with multiple PBEMS having a lull in one game can be quite restful. ALthough when they ALL stop its damn annoying [:D][:D][:D]

I will have tough time here since I'am lacking in fighters. Wirraways and Brewsters just don't match againts tough Japanese Zero's.

I can't even ship in more soon since the blockade in the South Pacific. (Allthough there is not much Fighters in West Coast either).

DEI

There is no good news here either. He started to land his ground troops at Kragen.
Soon the Japanese ground offensive will begin.

Im sure you can upgrade the aussie units to hurricanes from the game start. may well be worth having a look to see if you can. Brit and dutch not till may/july BUT aussies can and will upgrade.

May help boost air defence a tad .. cos wirracoffins suck badly.

Yes, that is worth a look but I think most of the ac's available only upgrade to Kittyhawks. That's not good.

The short term outlook isn't great. Now that he has captured Malaya (Phillipines propably will fall within next few days) he has a lot of infantry units that he can concentrate in other areas.

DEI will not last long since there just isn't enough firepower to defend it either.

Once he has completed these task he propably will move into Australia and India. I do actually think he might go for both places.

At the moment I'am lacking ground troops in both places. (..and in Australia fighters too as we speak).

I have to admit that Erstad really is tough opponent. Very few mistakes so far and I don't think he will make too many in future [:-] All in all this game will get nasty once we get little further in game time [:D]

oh not playing PDU ?

sounds like your having the same sort of trouble vs erstad as i am vs 2nd ACR .. seems like a new league [:D]

Id be suprised if he could do BOTH india and australia .. even PzB couldn't do that .. and he's the god of jap AAr's :) .

humm well india .. hyderabad is a good spot for a fast reactive counterinvasion group. and never send more into burma unless your sure he's not hitting india .. well worth garisonning diamond harbour and chandpur too.

Yes, PDU is off [:D]

Well, I'am developing patience. I have build up Christmas Island, Pearl and Midway so I'am think defensively at this time.

This style of play is so diffent from my previous experiences and it taking some time to adjust that [:)]

Even Raverdave is getting his butt kicked againts Sneer very badly! [8|] So, we are not alone Rob [:D][:D][:D]

Hmpf, India and Australia... I do actually think he might be able to pull it off so early on. Let's say that late 1942 makes it impossible but it is only February 1942 [:D][:D]

PzB might have taken Australia and India if he had actually moved in. Allied side is not that strong in 1942!

HEHE .. yeah i much prefer a challenge ..

one idea Jarvis island ?? dot base SW of christmas island is a great base for transferring a/c to canton .. well worth building up to a size 1 at least. ( allows P40's) and i think P39's transfer .. cant use it for F4's though they are 1 hex too short range.

Yep.

Adjust quickly, or you will die.

Erstad is a like a rabid dog. Very agressive and if you don't stop him, he'll attack/infect everything on the farm. Stopping him takes a lot of planning and a healthy dose of luck.

But if you -know- he'll attack/infect everything, one option is to:

Find a quiet spot in the corner of the barn and wait there for him with the biggest f_cking gun you own, with all the ammo you can scrounge. When he does show up, shoot him in the face as fast as you can until either he's dead or he rips out your liver.

Well, first 6 months are mostly "damage control" anyway. I usually start only to even think about counter-attacks when it's past May 42. If you have not lost in spring 1943 you'll most likely win. [8D] That's good part in playing Allies...it's just darn annoying for few months...[:'(]

Thanks for the comments guys!

As Feinder said Erstad can eat you alive! [:-] It's time start think more agressive defense.

Jarvis Island is good idea but the problem is the fact that he holds Canton Island [;)]. My intel indicates that he has 10 troops there so counter offensive is out of the question at the moment.

Also KB showed up again... more about that later.

No. The only base I got left in Phillippines is Manila. The capital will fall soon since supply level at the moment is 0. I have 3xAK's trying to reach the city but I doubt they will arrive soon enough.

Yikes !! Hope he doesn't head to Ceylon for example !! I think at this stage of game he can land almost anywhere with impunity.

That sounds dangerous .. what are your defences at chandpur and diamond harbour like ? the brit arty units can double as CD guns and i usually move 1 to each place 2 divs is poss and tanks in reserve.

Celyon is a real possibility BUT personally i think its a jap POW camp once british airpower takes off (soon).

Good luck

p.s is that the AVG getting ground down in china ? maybe try and keep it intact and defend one place in force ( but keep changing) . great LR CAP ability too.
sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)
