Doubt it. I'm a Archaeologist and in great shape. If anything you'l kill me by boring me to death with your circular arguments about how Haig is so great. If he's so great, how come his tactics are not taught at any Military acadamy? How come you STILL refuse to back up your claim to use his tactics in a PBEM game?

BulletMagnet, just because your beergut is only half the size of your head doesn't mean you are in good shape. Haig tactics are taught at military academies. As for PBEM its been mentioned enough times that the saves got corrupted so you are ranting at thin air. It seems odd that the forum's #1 hatemonger would have a signature such as yours. Dark will be your future evil man.

At least now I realize I am dealing with a 12 year old who broke into someone's library and actualy read a book on WW1. Tis a pity you can only make assumptions about me and my body size and not actualy hold a intelligent thread. I thought the thread was about Haigypoo's tactics and how great they are. You cant come up with anything to support that other than insults? Waste of time you be.

Well guys, this is a place where we mainly share a game passion.
So let's talk about it.

I suppose we are talking about the Somme battle, isn't it? So why don't try this one?

A few links for anyone interested in learning more about Haig.......

Hi Mac67, that's the correct approach to this "touchy" subject [;)]. I would like to contribute with this other link

http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/FWWhaig.htm

First we have to know the man and his background.

Personally I do think that Haig's tactics have been judged (condemned?[:'(]) by History itself.

But, indeed, Haig has been, and still is, one of the most controversial figures in World War I history.

That, there is no doubt.

TBT, there is a military history in my family going way back. Currently living are two WWII veterans, 1 korean war veteran, 3 Vietnam war veterans, 1 Gulf War vet, and 1 who's served in Iraq. Going back, we've traced our roots back to the massacre at Ardenmurchen by the english. Out of all the living members of the family who've served, not a one has been taught Haig's failed tactics as anything other than what not to do.

He was villified for a reason. Not only did he order hundreds of thousands to die for no gains whatsoever; but he lived in a comfortable house while doing so. He was far too cowardly to ever view the field of battle; prefering to be an old school armchair general who's idiocies cost the British tremendously. His men say in a swampish hell hole, plauged by rats and other untold critters; cut down by machine gun fire, and for not even a few yards of ground. At his best he could only claim he diverted German forces from Verdun, and then the cost was so great that it's debatable whether it was worth it. He is the only person from either World War who's statue has been demanded removed for his appalling treatment of his soldiers. While I doubt he truly intentionally tried to slaughter his men (some of them at any rate); he was too ignorant and foolish to realize that his way would cost so many lives; too stubborn to change when the truth presented its self, and to cowardly to even view the field of battle. It wasn't until after the dust settled that he began to do something for those men, when if he wasn't such an idiot and coward, the number of those killed and mained under his command would have been greatly reduced.

Wow! This part of Matrix forums is much more funny than the WitP forum!

So cavalry rules? Someone should quit sniffing glue, I suspect... [:D]
