Report of December 23rd, 1941
Malaya
Today my bombers switched target and attacked Johore Bharu afld. No enemy planes were presents. 21 hits on the afld and only 2 bombers damaged.
In the afternoon my troops attacked and occupied Georgetown, capturing 1442 enemy soldiers.
Now all the troops can march south, towards Johore. I don’t know if Chuck want to organize a first defense line in Kuala Lumpur or Malacca, or if he wants to reatreat directly to Johore. I have to organize my recon.
2. Tank Rgt will remain in Georgetown for a while. In the last game Chuck organized various raids to occupy some Malaya’s bases. This time I want to be prepared.
Philippines
9 Claude and 4 Nate, on CAP over Aparri, defended the ships in the harbor. No enemy have been shot down, but 4 P-40 and 2 B-17 have been damaged. No losses on my side.
Indochina
BB Haruna arrived today in Saigon, with sys dam 54. She will refuel today and will leave directed to Sasebo for repairs. I think she will be out at least for six months.
Cent Pac
Imperial HQ has decided to proceed with the invasion of Johnston I. All the convoy involved in the operation will meet themselves south of Midway.

Hi,
I had Fuso at 43 sys damage. For big ships I´m using Maizuru (about 100 repair yards there I think. If not there it is one of the cities next to Maizuru) + naval HQ (I had no AR there) and it took only about month and half to get the damage to 11
6 months seems too long to me, but it is about die rolls so luck has to be on your side..

Yes I will use Kyoto/Maizuru too. (in Nik's mode the two cities are togheter). It's a size 8 port with 440 rep points.

Report of December 24th, 1941
Malaya
At Kuantan Vildebeest attacked my escort ships and placed 3 torpedoes on the stomach of CA Mogami. One AK is also severly damaged.
Mogami is at 25/81/22 and she’s now sailing towards Saigon a 6 kt but it will be very difficoult to reach the base.
Brunei
Nell taking-off from Kuching sunk one british AK E of Sumatra.
SW Pac
The former german colony of Hansa, on the northern coast og New Guinea is occupied by Imperial navy troops.
The invasion of Rabaul start today. The convoy transporting the 4. Ind Division is sailing from Truk. The naval cover is not so strong, CL Naka, 3 MSW and 4 PG. CL Kashima, now at Saidor will rejoin the TF in a few days. But in Kavieng I have one daitai of Zero end one chutai of Kate. If Adelaide will show her bow, my planes will be ready.
I want to occupy Rabaul before the base become a size 4 afld.
Cent Pac
I have to postpone a bit the invasion of Johnston I. I have problem to bring down port damage of Midway and I need to wait Eng units reinforcements. So KB will remain in the area to cover the convoys arriving from Japan.
The invasion troops will meanwhile go all to Wake I. harbor and wait abord the ships.

I-9 sunk PC Tiger south of Hawaii. The crews of this small patrol ship had a very bad Christmas day.
Philippines
2 US PTM attacked and sunk one AP at Cebu I.
4 Betty have been damaged in the sky over Manila, while attacking the airfield. 1 P-40 and 1 PBY destroyed on the ground.

One dutch AP, already damaged, sunk SE of Sumatra.
Malaya
My ASW TF are engaging a great fight against allied subs. One dutch SS sunk one MSW at Kuantan, but in the afternoon that same SS has been damaged.
85 bombers that took-off from Khota Bharu attacked Kuala Lumpur airfield and destroyed on the ground 1 Vildebeest and 1 Swordfish. Only 1 Lily damaged on my side.
In the afternoon Blenheims sunk one already damaged AK at Kuantan harbor. My escorts leaved during the night after the damaging of CA Mogami.
And CA Mogami is at 26/81/6, with floating increasing. She’s still 6 hexes away from Saigon.

One of my sub sunk an AK W of Big Island.
Malaya
Another of my sub sunk a dutch AP south of Singapore.
Today Kuantan afld opened to IJA, and a Sonia and Oscar sentai transferred there from Singora.

Today is the day of the subs. I lost on MSW near Mindoro, sunk by an allied SS.
Before dinner, my troops assaulted allied base in Iloilo and forced the garrison to surrender, capturing 4335 prisoners.
In this way I have a lot of small infantry units free for other duties.
Instead, the first attack in San Marcelino ended with a disaster. I’ve lost 1354 men and 49 guns, while allied lost 833 men and 27 guns.
My troops are now really disrupted and need at least ten days of rest.

During the night a dutch SS sunk one of my AK south of Saigon. The ship (with other merchant ships) was escorted by 1 CA and 4 DD but they were useless. [:@]
CAP over Kuantan successfully defended my merchant ships in the area. The delay on opening this airbase costed my the damage of BB Haruna and CA Mogami, and the losses of several transports. It has been a big mistake. [:@][:@]
144 bombers devastated Kuala Lumpur afld, but no allied planes were presents.
Nell taking-off from Kuching attacked Singapore, sinking 2 docked MSW. In the afternoon they sunk one AK off Palembang,
SW Pac
Night naval battle at Lae. CL Adelaide tried to attack again my ships while unloading. But this time I was ready. I sent with those ships, as escort, CL Kashima. Jap crew, was more expert for night combat and managed well against the australian cruiser. CL Adelaide resulted hit 11 times. A lot of the hits were very effective and exploded below the deck, causing a lot of damages, forcing the cruiser to break off. But captain Senda, aboard Kashima ordered to follow the enemy ship and the battle continued. Adelaide received at least 18 5-inch shell. Electrical power was destroyed and the ship slowed until stop in the water, becoming an easy target for my gunners, that, finally sunk the Adelaide. [:D][:D][:D]
The occupation of NG is continuing without problems. Today was the turn of Wewak to fall in japanese hands.
The invasion of Rabaul is postponed. I realized that the 4. Inf Div that I was sending there, was prepping for PM. The 16. Inf Div, instead, prepping for Rabaul, is laying on the beaches at Truk. Result: the convoy is returning back to Truk….or since the convoy is already off Kavieng, I could send it directly to PM. The problem is the escort. I have only 2 CL available. That’s all. It’s really not enough.
But I had another idea.
Now I’m sending to Truk CVL Ryujo and CVE Hosho, with 3 CA, 1 CL and several DD plus others light surface TF to support futures operations. I’ll invade Rabaul and PM in the following days.

Report of December 28th, 1941[/b] [/b] Burma The 210 british soldiers at Victoria Point surrendered to 1. Tank Regiment that conquered the base. Malaya 139 bombers attacked Johore afld, destroying on the ground 2 Buffalo and 3 Beaufort. 25 bombers were spotted in the base, I hope that a lot have been damaged. No losses among my planes. Sonia bombers coming from Kuantan sunk one AK docked in Singapore harbor. 6. and 14. tank rgt arrived in Malacca base, undefended. They will occupy the base immediately so that the 13’180 enemy soldiers reported in Kuala Lumpur will be forced to surrender. Less soldiers to fight in Johore. Cent Pac One enemy sub torpedoed on AK in Midway atoll before being hit by a DC. Philippines 2 P-40 and 1 PBY destroyed on the ground in Manila afld. I’m continue to wondering why enemy fighters don’t fly on CAP. Now I have a big problem in Luzon. It seems that Chuck has ammassed a lot of forces in San Marcelino. My troops are not strong enough to dislodge the enemy. 4. Ind Division will be withdrawn from SW Pac and sent to Tugueguarao. She will be there in at least 2 weeks. Before that I need to think some others ideas to solve the situation. One possibility is to transfer 4. Mix Inf Rgt from based in Saigon in riserve, immediately to Luzon. Also in Naga the 2. division is blocked there. Now I’ll transport small infantry units to Legaspi, on the south, hoping that Chuck will send some reinforcements there and simplify the job to the Sendai division.

New Year’s Day.
Philippines
SS I-124 hit and sunk with 3 torpedoes one enemy AK directed probably to Manila.
Cent Pac
One enemy SS is badly damaged in the water around Midway.
Malaya
Air battle in the sky over Singapore.
123 bombers and 31 Zero attacked the british fortress. Enemy fighters on CAP, 25 P-40 and 7 Brewster 339 tried to intercept and stop the raid.
The attack lasted over half an hour, during which I’ve lost 6 bombers and 1 Zero, while 19 bombers and another Zero resulted damaged. The allied lost 3 P-40, 3 Brewster, plus 10 P-40 damaged.. In addition 1 Buffalo and 2 Blenheim were destroyed on the ground. My bombers left the enemy airbase aflame.
SW Pac
My troops marched to Wau and occupied the enemy base, undefended.
I was planning to invade immediately Johnston I. but I noticed that KB is not so good on fuel. I send back the TF to Midway and, at this point, I will wait for some convoys arriving from Japan. The ships with an Eng BF destined to Marcus I. were I wanted to base a Zero daitai, is still many hexes away and so my merchant ships directed to Midway have to sail unescorted. They are transporting reinforcements, supplies and fuel very important for me after the losses of the replenishment TF during the early days of the war.
I think I have to assure fuel escort in Midway before sailing for Johnoston I. I’m guessing too that maybe Johnston is not so important to take. It’s remaining under 4E bombers range coming from PH. Maybe it could be a good idea to delete the operation.
I will think about it for a few days. For now I will refuel KB and escort those merchant ships. After that will see how the situation is evolving.

Report of January 4th , 1942[/b] [/b] A very quiet day. Philippines In Naga, from yesterday I’m unloading the 23. Eng Rgt, to help the w. Inf Div on the conquest of the city. From Jolo my planes bombed and sunk AK Don José in the Sulu Sea, while she was trying to escape. Cent Pac I-174 placed 2 torpedoes on AK Alchiba, E of Johnston I., but was later badly damaged by the escorts. The subs spotted several ships there. I’ll send KB in the area, to investigate. Nagumo’s fleet is now refuelled and ready to fight. I’m still undecided what to do with Johnston I. It will be worth to take the atoll? Suggestion are welcomed. SW Pac A small infantry unit is landing in Sag-Sag, on the western part of New Britain.
