Cross of iron,Das Boot, the first 10 mins of Gladiator,In Which we Serve,A Bridge too Far,Ice Cold in Alex.

Ice Cold in Alex is on this Bank Holiday Monday....I ALWAYS sit and watch that sucker.

Couldn't help but put my mix in here...so...

Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, We Were Soldiers, Das Boot and Black Hawk Down.....

Other non war...
Dr Zhivago
Immitation of Life
On the Town
Dumb and Dumber - every other weekend wouldn't be enough...the funniest movie of all time

I have more I dig out occasionally...but those are ones I remember saying "Wow....<insert one of the above movie titles> is on....WooHoo...it's a classic!" and then sit to watch.

PS don't watch if bibicaly challenged - Satire exists- thank pete cook!!

Mate - that wasn't Highlander - it was Braveheart.

Funny though - warning though - anyone who can't take satire steer clear!

For war movies: "Cross of iron"
any other: "Nosferatu the vampyre" with Kinski[&o], done by Werner Herzog[&o]. A shame that the advertising
of this film had been so bad in the U.S..

Werner Herzog, legendary. Nosferatu, the best vampire movie pretty much ever made. Cheers.

I pretty much like all Werner Herzog movies. He just has a way about capturing a scene, a way that eludes most directors. I even liked his recent documentary...Grizzly Man?

No, havent heard about it yet. Will have an eye on it! He has done so much fine films... a fascinating person, hard worker, gentle, brave.... I wish Germany would have more directors like him. Nice to see that he has fans over there, too!

Greetings,

TL.

"Heart of Glass". Werner Herzog is by far at the top of my list of great living directors.

I see that several of us are DVD collectors.

I recently bought two of my "watch frequently" VHS faves on DVD: special editions of "Platoon" and "The Natural".

And, not to leave out concert DVDs -- I revisit "Brian Wilson Presents Smile Live", The Stones' "Four Flicks" and "Led Zeppelin DVD" quite often.

Some of my friends just don't get it -- they ask, "You've already seen it, so why did you wanna buy it?"

Well, I also have many books that I can read over and over, but that's another topic. [;)]

Thirteen Days. Just something about that movie that is really gripping. The 2 guys who play the Kennedys are fantastic in their roles.
Tora, Tora, Tora. Love the spectacle of it all.

Non War movies.
Anything with the Marx Brothers. Every one of their movies is funny as hell and I pick up new laugh out loud nuggets every time I watch.
The Natural. Never gets old. A timeless fantasy.
1986 Masters. Never gets old. A timelsss fantasy. Watching Jack Nichlaus at 46 come out of 'nowhere' to win his 6th green jacket is one of the greatest sporting moments in history. [8D]
