RE: turn 53

Here's the face of the breech area now in T53. There's more Soviet resistance showing up and I'm running low on manpower to
man the front line and the supply level is getting lower the further the units go into the Soviet backfield. It's looking like maybe the
expansion of the breech has stopped temporarily in the direction of Moscow. I'm wondering if I ought to attempt wrapping around
the ends of the Soviet front lines instead of doing Shiny Buick. But I really like that plan and I want to keep going on it.

Here's how the air war is going right now. This is the beginning of T54 and the Soviets have just gotten two turns in a row so they
successfully breech my lines in a couple of places and I'm going to have to try to fix the holes. A lot of my manpower is involved
in Shiny Buick and unavailable to the rest of the front lines. This is tricky trying to balance the needs everywhere at the same time.
I can see how a reserve could come in handy.

Supply is better in the breech area now that the rail is being extended into it. The advance can continue after all. I'm bending the
Soviet lines back and there's more Soviets showing up along the length of it in small groups so I'm having to continually shuttle
more and more units down the length of the breech to take a place in the line. I'm going to have to start splitting units if I can't find
any more able bodies from somewhere.

This is what it looks like from 15K feet. I'm progressing but slower now because of all the Soviet resistance. And the lack of man-
power. But the Soviet units are getting pushed back and it's still looking good.

During the Soviet turn some units zoomed in and cut off a small group of Axis units. I'm either going to have to fight my way out
of this, which is probable, or I'm going to have to dispatch some divisions to help them out because they are out of supply now
and could possibly be destroyed if I do nothing. One of the drawbacks of taking risks one after another until you get overconfident
and do something risky one time too many.

Here's what has changed in the breech area since I've been moving units. The Soviet's line has crumbled and is backing up and
getting surrounded and destroyed a little group at a time. As the unemployed units are discovered they are shuttled to the tip of
the breech so the advance can continue toward Moscow. We're getting closer and closer all the time.

Here's what the T56 breech looks like. I'm pushing and shoving and the Soviet line is crumbling and falling back and I'm expanding
the bulge toward Moscow. Also, I've tried to see what's out to the east and so far there's been light resistance. Except for the
occasional strong point group that I run across in the urban areas.

Here's what's going on just north of Moscow. I'm spread really thin and there's Soviet units showing up all over the place and it's
hit and miss plugging the holes. I got some supply to that group that was cut off but just barely and the links are vulnerable and
weak. It's looking a lot like I'm going to lose those people. I have to find the men to make a reserve and use it for things like this.

Here's the face of the Breech in T57. The shrinking of the surround is going on as the Soviets fall back and give ground. Operation
Shiny Buick is proceeding.

Here's what the Shiny Buick area looks like in T58. I've pinched off a group of Soviet units and now I need to mop them up ASAP so
that the process can continue further to the east before Winter sets in. We're already far into July.

Here's what's happening on the southern front. The Soviet line has crumbled and I'm finding weak spots and pushing and I'm
surrounding little groups and I've got high hopes that I can take care of all these situations before the winter and low supply sets
in.

Here's the southern front in T60 and even though I keep isolating small groups and destroying them the Soviets keep pushing more
units in from the east to replace them. But the Soviet front line is down to a single unit in each hex in a lot of places. So I'm making
a dent and I expect them to fold sometime soon but the Soviets got two turns in a row and breeched my lines in the south but I'm
making plans to fix that and it's just a momentary setback.

I finally captured Moscow just now. I had some arty adjacent and attempted to start a bombardment attack and the enemy unit RBC'd
instead. So now I need to move some ground troops into the hex real quick before I forget to. LOL.

Okie dokie..........I declare Operation Shiny Buick over and the start of a new operation, Operation Shiny Chevy which is
the eventual destruction of all the Moscow area Soviet units. I also need to be getting a new front line built to the east of
Moscow and keep driving east. The winter season hasn't fallen yet and there's still hay to make while the sun shines.

EDIT: Yeah, I know, it's the wrong picture. It's the above picture again. Sorry about that.

Here's the new face of the southern front. I've found a weak spot and made it a hole and then expanded it and now units are
rushing through it into the Soviet rear areas. I'm headed to Rostov to cut off the supply to the Soviet remnants so I can kill them
easier.

Here's some of my heaviest losses in descending order. A surprisingly high number of engineers are in the mix. I'm using them as
fodder when the Soviets attack me and they are usually in the front lines, sometimes the only thing in the hex and I've got to quit
doing that to them. It probably wouldn't happen in real life so I won't do it either. Anymore.

Yeah, I usually keep my engineer squads with infantry divisions or as tactical reserves for busy fronts. Also, I will use that to help dig out a fortified enemy position. Usually helps most of the time. Same thing goes for the Bridging units, only time I move them forward, is to cover a river or a broken bridge.

It looks like there's not much resistence between me and Stalingrad but I'm thinking there's enemy units there I just can't see them
yet. And anyway, there's not much time left before winter because this is already far into August and that means the supply level
will start to drop off soon.

Here's what Shiny Chevy looks like now. I'm almost through mopping up at Moscow and the other little groups are surrounded and
being liquidated even as we speak. Other units are moving east to establish a new front line and continue the advance.
