A good pictorial representation of the amount of combat currently occurring in China :o

And plenty of fun and games in Burma as both sides seek to cut off, isolate and encircle each other.

Pretty fascinating and delicately poised as we near the end of 42.

China- toying with an idea which may cause Lowpe some angst.

The initial objective is Chengtu (no surprises there) which should be knocked over in a week.

Then instead of the obvious play of going after Chungking, start pushing forces to the West and threaten the Allied LOC to Burma.

Where ever the tank divisions pop up they seem to cause a small degree of panzerfright to Lowpe which may have happened up in Northern China. The collapse of the Chinese lines in the last 3 weeks has been quite dramatic and the deployed 3 x tank divisions barely fired a shot.

I want to see if I can spook him a bit more ;)

2 x tank divs will start heading in that direction.

Depending on how aggressive Lowpe plays it, this theatre will be on a knife's edge shortly.

I am still not a believer that the Allies have the combat power to force the IJA out of Burma in late 42 or early 43.

Will know shortly, but reinforcements are on the way just in case.

The USN getting restless again.....

More trouble pending but I don't really have a desire to risk valuable assets that far away from the Home Islands.

Very interesting game thus far Nathan!

Any plans to retake Marcus Island? The Allies are rapidly becoming a very serious threat in the Pacific, my advice is to prioritize its defense.

Good to see you Desert Wolf- yep it is a great game and I am also watching yours as well.

*Marcus is gone at this stage. Just can't see how I budge a dug in Marine Division with armour and artillery with strong fortifications. It helps the Allies greatly with recon but it is too soon to use it as a springboard into something deeper. If Lowpe tries to go deeper and it is not an atoll, I should be in a very good position to take it back up and till 44.

I intend to surround it with subs and other assets and see if I can use it for bait to hurt the USN.

China- Dec 42

The plan of encirclement which involves a wide sweep around Chungking with the 2 x tank divisions is working well- better than I could have hoped for.

The initial target is not Chungking which I think Lowpe is starting to realise now.

The deadly dance continues in Burma.

Both sides taking losses on the ground and in the air.

Northern Japan- hardening of a select group of positions continues as I wait for the inevitable invasion; mid 43 is my guess.

Can't defend everything but only a select few hard points which will be very difficult to take.

The principle is the hedgehog defence which requires multiple defensive positions and critically defence in depth.

The majority of naval assets are carefully being conserved for the pending major invasion in either the central pacific or northern Japan.

With Marcus Island in his possession he is definitely going deep.

Adding critical depth to the Marianas positions is the Bonin Islands which are now being fortified.

1 down, 2 to go. :D

Moves continue to isolate Chungking- going well.

Plenty of Indian and Commonwealth forces deployed which will make the fighting interesting.

Getting closer to crunch time in Burma.

Keen to meet the Allied forces out in the open plains. Conventional wisdom says suicide but we will see.

Time to say goodbye to Western Australia.

Too far away to keep. Won't fight for it. I'm amazed I kept it for this long.

Allies move to isolate Japanese positions in the South Pacific.

Will wait until they get closer to Rabaul.

Pressure grows on Nauru

Waiting and watching for the moment- Lowpe is grabbing some of the dot bases around and setting up naval search which is clever. Will start to counter that tactic now.

The wall of steel in the Marianas.

Good luck in trying to take these positions by June 43 with the largely intact IJN positioned behind :)

The Empire is growing strong.

Captured Chinese oil and industry is starting to make a nice contribution.

Scoreboard

Points wise its okay and I have certainly done enough to get into 45; how far into 45 remains to be seen.

The highlight is Allied Army loss point 13K+ which is the highest I have achieved in any game at this point of time. Of course part of this result is the aggressive nature of Lowpe's defence which has made it a very exciting game.

The rest is so so. Hoping to really rack up Allied air losses in the next 6 months.
