June 1 1945

By the way, I noticed that from April 1 to April 7, the Manchukuo Garrison value dropped from 12296 to 10985. I assume that is related to troop losses and possibly supply issues in Manchukuo, but that trend could mean the Garrison would drop below 8000 in as little as 2 weeks. Soviet activation might be that dramatic at this stage though considering the US is heavy in Korea already.

Kido Butai, although powerful, was a raiding force, and this is exactly how the Japanese understood its usage. 'Shattered Sword'

Been crazy-busy and continue to have time for EITHER a turn OR the AAR. Have opted for the turns but need, badly, to do an update. Plan to go out to see my Mom this Thursday through Monday. Will talk with Dan and see what we're doing.

April 13, 1945

Message sent to Dan with the morning turn:

Let April 13, 1945 be the benchmark for when Imperial Japan began serious surrender discussions at the highest levels of its government. It doesn’t leak to the people but it does to American Intelligence.

Damn. The combat firepower you have is AMAZING.

VP Changes for the day are Japan +64 and the Allies a whopping +1,430. Keijo fell, Port Arthur went from a normal operational base to being CRUSHED in one turn, ditto for Tientsin. Wow.

Lowpe might be right in his prediction...

John, full cred to you for fighting it out until the bitter end! [&o]

Have enjoyed both your and Canoerebels AARs immensely.

Keijo is supposed to be worth a lot of points (I haven't checked but that is what they said in the other AAR) so with the flip of that base it's a double whammy on the points ratio. With that big US carrier fleet in the Yellow Sea, I can't imagine any coastal base there is safe for your guys. Good luck with the, uh, delicate negotiations at the top levels of IJ government, and kudos for fighting on under increasingly awful conditions.
