Thank you sir. Now, if I get hit by an asteroid on the way to work I can great St Peter with all accounts in good order....oh wait...<goes to check JPL site for any near Earth asterodis>

There are always some, and they only ever see the biggish ones.

Anything that hits the ground is packing enough energy to kill a single person, and with our current priorities finding everything big enough to survive re-entry is like tracking ants with radar... while the ants are running around under a herd of elephants.

Speaking of dogs

I must confess, that's an easier way to segue into a conversation than, "Speaking of telogen effluvium...", which is what I was thinking.

@ Cap'n: Thanks for the update on the Gilberts. Do you have one on the Sullivans? Whereabouts of the HMS Pinafore?

Actually .. I am thinking these guys are pulling their hair out rather than the acute non-scaring alopicia [:D]

I am driving to work with an old Dutch oven on my head. That should slow it down a bit.

***************Nov. 15, 1942(c) {after we actually saw the turn}***********

Oz: The sissy LYB's sent all their toys (except the carriers) back to Broome of all places. I think they were clearing the decks for our arrival...but we trick them...we no show up. They feel safe in their bastion of Broome, but they are unaware of our Albacore(LR) with 840 nm range.

Attacks at Terape and Port Moresby have heated up in order to make shipping safe in the Torres Strait and to suggest an incipient landing.

SouPac: Attack at Tanna ordered for today.

With the Wren Detachment

******Nauru Is.(Near the Gilberts [the island chain not the young couple in Alamogordo], Nov. 15, 1942(c)*****

Lt. Col. Waters: <He is in defilade behind a big mound of gaunao, holding a 20 ft. long piece of mint-flavored, unwaxed dental floss with a loop at the far end. He stops breathing...wait...wait....wait...he jerks the line suddenly and then jumps to his feet in victory. Twenty feet away a blue-footed booby struggles vainly to escape> I GOT ONE LADS! I GOT ONE! <he turns around to share the news but sees not a soul> Lads?

Tragic. Look at the breast meat on that bird.

Should he be rescued, a task to which SouPac now solemnly commits itself, Gen. Blamey will tear Col. Waters a new one, then the SPCA is just going to make him beg for mercy.

Well, if the steam catapult (if there even is such a thing) on Hermes breaks down the second one from the left front row can be put to good use.

One of the serious problems in planning the fight against American doctrine.... is that the Americans do not read their manuals, nor do they feel any obligation to follow their doctrine
