Updated image and description packs are now available on the WS downloads page!
"Descriptions" -This contains the entire description set for the CWDB and DB3000 databases updated to 30 April 2020. It is broken up into the CWDB folder (4.36 MB, 910 files) and the DB3000 folder (14.8 MB, 3154 files). Although only 70 additional description files have been added, several earlier description files have been corrected and/or had additional information added or otherwise revised.

"Images"-This contains the entire primary images set for the CWDB and DB3K database updated to 30 April 2020. It contains a CWDB folder of primary images (1.02 Gb, 5,321 files, an increase of 460 images) a DB3000 folder of primary images (2.16 GB, 11,266 files, an increase of 407 images) and a "Secondary Images" folder with the secondary images and line drawing for both DB3K and CWDB (745 MB, 8,984 files). In addition, there have been numerous images that have been either corrected, or tags added. All told, over 1500 image files were added, modified, or replaced.

The images can also be downloaded on-demand from within CMO (no manual action needed). If you wish to re-download images that you have already got (e.g. to update), delete all files in these folders:
[CMO]\DB\Images\DB3000
[CMO]\DB\Images\CWDB

The updated description files will be included in the next update release.

Big props for this new release to CV60 (overall coordinator), kgambit, Boogabooga, Goldfinger35 and RafaleKiwi.

Why do we always get this uncontrollable urge to fix everything on the internet?? [:'(] [:)]

While I was trawling though the CMO downloaded images I noticed that ..\Images\CWDB\Facility_792.jpg appears to be corrupt and cannot be opened by any graphic program. Re-downloaded file was the same.

Also, ..\Images\CWDB\Ship_516 (F174 River Class Australia 1943) seems to be completely incorrect as the pic is of the 1961 Type 12 River Class. Someone has done a sterling job on ships of 1943 River class under #2141 (A245 Barcoo), #2142 (A266 Diamantina) and #2144 (A276 Gascoyne - No Image) but these images appear to be of their post war oceanographic role. You might find some more appropriate images at https://www.navy.gov.au/hmas-barcoo for #516.

(P.S. I noted the separate threads in the mod area for database corrections but does this include images??)
Cheers,
Reg.

I was working on images for the CWDB for the next go around, so I'll have a look at the pics for Barcoo et al. I believe I have an image for the Gascoyne to fill that empty slot.

Not sure what the issue with the facility pic is. I'll check with Steve.

I think any issues you find with the images probably belong in this thread.

As an aside, just a quick reminder to everyone that the updates are always cumulative, so any images that would have been added in the previous update are in the latest one as well.

Also, I would strongly suggest that folks delete the existing images and reinstall from the new updates (or delete and let the auto-uploader reinstall). There were a LOT of images that were replaced in this last update and a few that were removed.

Hi,

Thanks for your attention and prompt reply. Your efforts in turning the image library into a valuable reference resource is valued by all of us.

No one would probably have noticed those discrepancies but we can all help improve the database by pointing out the minor oversights when we run across them.

By the way, I had previously deleted my existing files so those files were the latest versions auto downloaded this morning.

If you are after more info on RAN ships the index page to the site above might be useful. https://www.navy.gov.au/fleet/ships-boa ... -histories

So I guess that we need to move the secondary images into the appropriate image directory manually?

Do we copy everything, or are we supposed to choose between line drawings or secondary images, etc.?

I think the issue was an artifact left by the auto updater. A zero byte size file. You can see files being created in the images folder as you scroll through the database then the slots without images are immediately deleted. The rogue file has gone away now so who knows what that was. [:(]

Yes-Some don't want the secondary images, (or may want to use a secondary image as a primary image), so we include that as a separate package. Some also want to use line drawings as the primary image, so we make those available (although we don't spend very much time working on line drawings).

Is there a method to avoid auto-download secondary images (images with _t1, _t2, _t3)??

So just loaded the two image databases and it is causing my game to just spin, and not load. Going to try reloading the last version/patch.

Edit: If this happens to anyone else that worked.

What are the secondary images for? I've read previous messages but none explain what's the use of those!

Not that I'm aware of, other than to turn off the auto-download completely. In this case, manually import only the primary images, then turn off the auto-update function.

Are you running the game while loading the image databases? That might cause problems, which should be corrected if you restart the game.

THe game is capable of simultaneously displaying up to 6 images of varying size per unit: The primary image and five "secondary" images. The supplied secondary images fill some of those secondary slots. Also, in some cases we have provide some really nice images as secondary images that some users may prefer to redesignate as the primary image. (NOTE: We try to use historically accurate photos as the primary image. In some cases, the historically accurate photo is not the most visually attractive photo. In these cases, if there is a secondary immage, it may be more attractive, but it is quite possibly not historically accurate in terms of date, nationality, etc.) Finally, in some cases (such as with SAM batteries) I've tried to supply secondary images to highlight the equipment of the SAM battery, such as launchers, radars, missiles, etc. For example of this latter use, see the HQ-2 entry below:

NO!

But I just tried...

1. copying the Secondary Images to my folders in an working version,
2. by unzipping the Secondary_Images.zip in the Temp folder and then then copying the secondary images to the respective CWDB and DB3000 image folders
3. and then reloaded the last patch

...and it is happening again.

My issue seems to be related to the secondary images, maybe it can't load one and is hanging the game initiation up?

I'm not sure. There shouldn't be anything in the images-there are all .jpg/jpeg or .txt files. Nothing executable that should cause problems to your system. They were all scanned for viruses before I uploaded them, and I just ran another scan, just to make sure. Is it related to the patch you just reloaded? Alternatively, it may be that there is some indexing of the photos. Your computer sees 10,000+ new files and is doing some indexing on them. Is the game still churning after 30 min or so?
