Here's the face of the southern front now. I'm getting a handle on that large group just to the west of Rostov and I'm pushing some
units to the east and Stalingrad is just off map to the east.......so close I may as well try for it.

EDIT: And yeah, in the lower left corner there's a Nebelwerfer in the hex by itself and therefore in danger of being destroyed by
the Soviets in adjacent hexes.........I'm not through moving units yet and some handy Romanians have already volunteered to move
that direction and protect the arty unit.

Here's how the air war is going right now. I'm still shooting them down by the hands-full but their AS value is climbing so I'm seeing
more fighters in the air and I'm shooting them down. That's the theory.

Here's what's going on north of Moscow. I'm running into more Soviet units all the time. I've started some units headed this way and
they should be arriving in another three turns or so. I hope those guys can hold out that long.

Here's the T63 front lines after one round of combat so there's a tiny bit of movement left in selected spots.

Here's what's typical now........the meeting engagement at a major crossroads site. I'm moving out away from the railhead again
and the supply level is dropping as I move further east and the weather is going to warp into winter and the supply collapse
again. So I have to keep that in mind as I move more units further east.

Some of my elements are sneaking up on Stalingrad. Resistance has devolved into roadblocks and strongpoints and small groups.
It's looking doable to get the city.

I've arrived at Stalingrad and found it fortified. Garrisoned. So I'm going to have to wrap around it and put it to siege I guess. That's
what I did in the last game. Should work.

Did I mention that I freed the Finns? They have come in really handy near Leningrad. The advance has advanced past a small
Soviet group that has taken refuge in the badlands terrain NE of Leningrad and it's becoming a pain in the neck to rout them out
of there. I can't seem to find a supplied hex to stand on to attack them when they retreat deep into the middle of it. I'm going to
have to do a Merrill's Marauders Maneuvor and go without supply for a bit I guess. I hate to run a unit into an out of supply position
on purpose. I do it so often by mistake already.

Here's what's going on to the NE of Moscow. I'm forming a front line and the Soviets are meeting it and there's a lot of pushing and
shoving going on already and I'm moving some arty and troops to the north and now that there's resistance the advance has almost
stopped advancing. Supply is a problem already. I've got 2 of the three RR engineers up here working a northbound line and one
is still down south extending a line toward Stalingrad.

I've been moving units and this is the face of Stalingrad now. I've got units leaping across the river and making their way inland.
The supply effectively stops at the river and operations will be short lived and there's going to be a lot of moving of units back
and forth as I replace the tired ones with fresh ones. And the fresh ones will only be a 'relatively' fresh variety.

This is the T67 front lines. I'm expanding slowly and gaining territory and surrounding small groups and destroying them. This is late
in September and I expect the supply to drop off in early October so that means next turn or at least soon. So I've got to keep in
mind the need for a front line in good terrain and lines of communication and supply ( LOC's ) and only a few units out in the middle
of the field in low supply areas. Those that are caught out there will have to be monitored and rotated out of there when they get
tired. Being replaced by a fresher unit.

Using Mountain troops will help you there. You should be able to attack in and back out if with full movement to start with.

cheers!

How come I didn't think of that? Great idea Commander V dude. Thanks a lot. I'll try that.

Have I shown you guys the area just south of Stalingrad? I'm streaming across the river and expanding into the fields beyond.
Resistance is light so far except just around Stalingrad. I'm going to move more arty there if my attacks end up going nowhere.
I guess this starts the last segment of the game........the end game phase. I'm mostly concentrating on holding what I have and
aren't all that keen to capture more territory I'm just killing Soviet units now. I could just fall back and hunker down and just hold
the lines for the rest of the game but that sounds boring and I'm curious to see how far I can go anyway.

Here's the same area in T68. This is early October and you can see for yourself that the supply levels are too low now for
sustained combat operations. So I'm going to form a front line and just defend for a while to save up enough readiness for
a good attack. Winter will be here and I expect the supply to drop to nothing at all soon.

Here's the same area in T69. I seem to have changed my mind. What really happened is that I played several back to back games
of Empire Earth and then promptly forgot my plans to just make a front line and stand put. I guess I'm too aggressive for my own
good. But the supply level really IS too low for sustained combat operations so I really am going to have to put a stop to all this
adventurism.

This is what Stalingrad looks like now. I'm getting across the river in a couple of places so I'm thinking I'll swing around to the back
side of Stalingrad so as to surround it and cut it off from supply before I start the serious attacks. I think it'll go down easier that way.
That's the theory.

What an excellent thread, amazing AAR(s) Larry! I've noted that you use an .eqp mod. Will the eqp. mod work with the lastest version? That's TOAW 3, with the latest patch 3.4.1.9. Or is it playable without the mod?

The mod adds Axis minor Allies rifle squads instead of the generic rifle squad. So yeah you can play without it but you'd be
missing some of the chrome. And yes I believe it's playable with the latest patch. If it's not I'd like to know about it.
