Interesting to see what happens here...I like reserve no pursuit and might have gone a bit overboard here.

Perth...forts 2 (71%)

With this invasion...our hand is forced, and we will fight tooth and nail for Perth now.

I suspect a paratroop invasion to cut the rail line...Kalgoorlie is well held, but only a MG section at Cunderdin currently. Only 13 IJAAF planes here so far, but 45 Zeroes have arrived added to the dozen Nells. Their runway is still damaged.

Super interesting...I bet the IJA deliberate attacks again tomorrow.

I think only one unit came out of Reserve, the 4th Knil or was it the 2nd? I am thinking the 2nd was the only one in combat mode though.

I did put all the HQ units into combat mode to acts as soaks...all our units have less than 0 disruption and fatigue 4 or less except for the 2nd KNIL which has fatigue 9.

Perhaps there might be a surprise for the Japanese tomorrow?

I remember a developer saying units would auto-flip out of reserve mode if needed, not sure if there's a penalty.

With todays carnage, the ratio of ship losses is under 4-1. Wish I could say the same thing for troop losses 132 to 2180. Plane losses roughly 1-1.

Delving deep into the pools and builds for devices.

Thanks Alfred, found the units that take the Lee.[&o]

Got my first Stuart tank in the pools for Commonwealth, plus the 7th Hussars showed up in Aden fully kitted out with them. [:)] Four more and I can upgrade my first Australian unit to them. Of course I want Matildas.[:'(]

Recon of the IJN attack on Sian shows 500+ afvs coming in one stack...I think I will revisit my decision to fight there and retreat. Hopefully it isn't too late for the 700 AV there. Just need one more day.

The HQ units don't necessarily act as soaks in this situation.

When confronted with a deliberate/shock attack, sufficient units in reserve mode will be automatically put into defend mode. This is basically determined on the basis of defending mode raw AV:attacking raw AV. Having HQ units in combat mode won't be substituted into the ratio determination as they have no raw AV.

From an army VP loss basis, losing non AV devices generates the same lost VPs as losing the equivalent number of devices with AV.Those lost defending non AV devices are most unlikely to inflict a similar loss on enemy devices as would the equivalent number of lost defending AV devices.

Thanks Alfred, another of my misconceptions shot down in flames....back to putting hq units into Reserve no pursuit which does feel better.

This is probably not optimal Allied play...not massing American carriers...but Saratoga is headed for western Oz to shepherd in reinforcements headed there...first a stop at Hobart which is building up to be a hub.
