He'll make it a several day fishing trip if he knows what's good for him!
On the other hand, he might be inspecting some part of his global empire...[:'(]

Sir;
We have encountered a serious problem with rust around the lanyard housing on the new Claymores when employed in a humid, jungle envirnment. The rate of detonation failures has been close to 80% after 2 month deployment in Paua New Guinea. The current configuration will be entirely insufficient for the South Pacific.
Sincerely,
Col. Stingly, Engineer in Chief, SWPAC

Heap big fight..many squaws lament
Back in the saddle again. I had another run in with the Franchise Tax Board (State of Calif). Don't come here. [:D] They make the IRS look like a social service organization. Still, they are licking their wounds and are in full retreat now. [8D]
Then my downstairs flooded from a slab leak 2 months after my home insurance deductible was raised to $1000 [:@] I dont want to hear any more whining on the board about how much WITP costs. Woosies [:'(]
Also Lord Admiral Hunter and Generalissimo Tabpub MacArthur were away for a few days and I had to do everything. I dont know how some of you guys play multiple games. It is crazy.
Anyway, big fight shaping up in the DEI. God bless the Boeing Aircraft Company.

For sale, 16 low mileage Kittyhawks
******Ready Room / Gresek Fighter Strip near Soerabaja, June 11,1942*************
Wing Cmmdr Rhyland, CO, No. 21 RAAF Sqdrn: "Flt. Lt. John, I've just learned SEAC has authorized an upgrade of the squadron to the up-engined Spitfire Vb."
Flt. Lt. John: "That's fantastic news sir."
Wing Cmmdr Rhyland: "Indeed, indeed. The big Jap push in Sumatra and Timor has apparently caused some adjustment of priorities. Plus, my letter to Gen. Pownall, seems to have paid off in spades. On the other hand, we are officially flying the Wirraway, so we need to put on a show when the Spitfires get here."
Flt. Lt. John: "Understood sir"
Wing Cmmdr Rhyland: "Please instruct your ground support crews to take the Wirraways out of mothballs. The Kittyhawks will go into the coffee drying warehouses at the South end of the field. When that is done, I will need the number of that Milo chap again. Perhaps he can resell the Kittyhawks."

Watching 3 Brewsters with oil leaks and teenage pilots attack 8 times their number in elite Zero pilots..and shoot two of them down!........PRICELESS

You just can't get good gum Arabic anymore
Though a closely held secret, we too have been infiltrating the Japanese command. General Fabertong, CO of the forces of the Empire of Japan in China, recently uncovered a deep mole who had risne to command an entire elite Japanese Division. His methods are clearly more ruthless. We salute a brave American.

<goes to change underwear....and then makes a note to send the cleaning bill to Mandrake>

Sing to the tune of "Man on the Flying Trapeze"
..Oh! We fly o'er the treetops with inches to spare,
There's smoke in the cockpit and gray in my hair.
The tracers look fine as a strafin' we go.
But, brother, we're TOO God damn low...

Perhaps you should moderate a bit on the prunes. [;)]
The "bushido boys" (as tabpub calls our opponents [:D]) have been taking some kind of vitamin supplement as they are attacking very aggresively. Five carriers and 4 or 5 BB's in the South China Sea, 2 or 3 carriers sneaking by Rossel Is (Coral Sea). Bombers pounding Koepang and Palembang every time the clouds clear. Its like a war zone, I tell you, a war zone. I will post some when I get home.
PS..I need a good recipe for a rib roast..about 9-10 diners.

Samba, in 4/4 time
After steaming back and forth through the DEI for weeks, Doorman finally finds a target, partly redeeming his prior disaster at Sorong. With his flagship, RNN De Ruyter, a British destroyer and 5 ancient four-stacker US DD's, he finds Jap escorts and transports off Samba. The Japanese SNLF had already disembarked, but they will be a bit short on dried octopus jerky and saki.

KEY:
1) Doorman's force sights Hakaze and Nanpo Maru, which are covering the landing ships. Action commences at 3500 yds. Hakaze is hit on the second volley. De Ruyter is struck by 3 rounds, but suffers only light damage. Doorman alters course to starboard to launch torpedos.
2) Now burning, Hakaze launches torpedos, target De Ruyter.
3) Hakaze is hit amidships by a torpedo, perhaps from De Ruyter or Alden. She breaks in half.
4) All allied ships concentrate gunfire on the Nanpo Maru. She returns fire hitting both the Whipple and Sands once in the engine room.
5) MSW W.20 engages the Allied force to protect the transports and is promptly sunk with gunfire.
6) Nanpo Maru sinks.
7) Syoryu Maru is spotted trying to escape to the NW and is promptly sunk by a torpedo from USS Chew.
8) Chicago Maru is spotted shortly afterward, begins taking on water and is deliberately beached.
9) Doorman's force retires South of Samba. Sands and Whipple are detached for repairs.

The simple Rules of Engagement for the Royal Netherlands Navy are key.
Order number 213, RNN, NEI
Dec 8, 1941
If you see something above sea level and it isn't a dike, shoot it.

See Koepang and die
With the fall of Port Moresby, there has clearly been a shift of Jap resources to the NEI. They are attempting to isolate Koepang and pound it into submission from Kendari. We simply dont have enough high-quality fighter aircraft to go around. We have taken to using them in brief bursts lest they be completely ground down.

June 9th is a disaster. Relatively inexperienced P39 jockeys go up against 4 x their number of elite Zero pilots. Oops. June 10th is payback day when 4 jap carriers are hit by B17's in the South China Sea [:)]
