OK Guys life has been very busy for the last few weeks but I am now back and able to update the AAR.

Broadly the last 6 weeks have been quiet with me gaining air superiority as we approach 44 I have not made great inroads and am hung up in SWPAC and SOPAC.

I have made a policy decision not to attack up the malaria infested NG route been there done that Pauk is to organised and his carriers are intact its not the route for me.

An attack to recover north aus and DEI is more valuable as is an all out attack on the Marshalls.

Both are being prepared.

My intent is a double envelopment on a grand scale with attacks on Kwaj - Entiwock - Wake - Marianas or Bonins

On the left I am considering several options

1. Attack Java - Singapore

2. Attack Southern Burma - Malaya

3. Attack Malaya with combined Aussie, Indian Army

4. Attack North Aus - Sulawesi - Borneo

All options are live at present and I probably favour 3. at present but time will tell which way I go

If I didn't know better Andy, I would say you have a thing about recapturing places to ensure the British Empire is going to be around after the war (Malaya). [:D][:D]

The Marshalls seem to be extremely difficult for Allied players to re-capture in WitP.

It would help if you could post some screen shots to refresh our memories. [;)]

OK I fly back in a few hours after my week long 'inspection' of the defences of English Harbour - Antigua I am sure I can come with a valid reason for the tour somehow however I return refreshed recharged and hungover and of course as a Scotsman in a hot country red and peeling !!!
 
I have been thinking about this war though and have decided to attack Wake and Malaya
 
Its a tad predictable but that does not make it a bad move.
 
My subs are just not getting the job done on interdiction Malaya in Allied hands cuts off a huge proportion of the Japanese raw materials and forces extensive redeployment its a prize worht taking some risks for.
 
The pre requisites are
 
1. Strategic surprise i.e. no more than 1 weeks notice (So any invasion convoys need to get to within 21 hexes undetected
 
2. Mandalay continuing to tie up at least four Divisons of Japanese troops.

OK Guys a lot has happened repeated attacks at Mandalay have failed ;(

A reinforcement convoy to Mili got savaged.

Losing that carrier battle has really delayed me badly.

OK all bad

It gets worse the convoys moving up from Aus were detected almost as soon as they left port. Well some of them were [:D][:D]

I have 200,000 men at sea in those ships a sub has torped a troop ship with part of US 14th Corps on board.

BUT I have carefully kept the screening force away from the convoy all that the dammed Glen has picked up is a single escort carrier group with only 15 Hellcats.....

What I actually have keeping out of sight is a lot more....

Strategic surprise is lost but accepting that I May have another cunning plan in the East

OK turns have slowed down from all my opponents.

Ah well.

A lot has happend a Jap DD tried to hit my convoy but ran into the escort and was sunk.

Apart from that I think my carriers have been spotted so I need to rethink my approach.

This operation is a bust he knows I am coming so the malacca straight is to dangerous. Sumatra or Southern Burma should still be possible

In other news a new plan has been developed I am massing forces for an attack on Japanese waters if Pauk has stripped CENTPAC to watch the West flank he will regret it !!!!

More to follow when my plans are complete.

A second heavy flewet is operating off of Wake and should be visible tomorrrow

1st Aus Army is advancing up the rail line towards Darwin

3 prongs widely speperated Pauk will have to respond in one direction allowing the other two to succeed.

Nothing much happened today I tried yet another attack at Mandalay but again no forts falling what do I need to do to get those forts down thats at least 15 attacks with not even a hint of forts falling.

I am stumped as to what is happening I have total air supremacy the equivalent of 6 Inf Divs and 3 Armoured Bdes and I cannot even make a dent in the forts.

As for Mandalay. You probably need to outflank him. You've seen in my game what it can be like in Burma. With a massed force it is VERY hard to break through even with air superiority.

Aye you are probably correct I have 300,000 men at Colombo loading up I was going to attack Malaya but I am now thinking Moulmien, Rangoon, Tavoy or VP are less risky
 
Today Pauk tried to ambush over Rabaul but over 100 P38's escorted the strike in.
 
He was surprised when I told him I get 225 P38's a month
 
80 P38G's of which 60 are on map production and upgrade to J's and a further 145 J's so total 205 J's and 20 G's
 
I don't think his carriers are near Wake so the operation continues my forces will land and hop[efully take this base which will provide air cover for attacks on the Marianas and Bonins
