RE: Tinian Captured!

Post by RUPD3658 »

More playing Whack a mole with a Francis squadron. It has bounced from Truk to Ulithi to Yap and keeps harassing my rear areas. The solution seems to be to shut down all the base but this draws AC away from softening up Guam.

I have come up with a plan and have started to move units around. It should come to fruition in about a month.

Post by RUPD3658 »

Invasion force has loaded and will land at Guam next turn.

Bombers worked over PI bases again to keep them shut down and short on supplies. I will deal with the PI after I am through with the Marianas.

Very nice - looks like another turn or two & you'll have another good-sized airfield on your hands.

His airforce seems to have gone to ground - with the massive losses he's sustained over the past month, I'm not surprised. He should be running out of places to hide here shortly.

Looks like most of the jap air force is training in China. The pilot quality has really fallen so I think it will be there for a while.

In about a month or so I will be doing things to force it to come out and play.

Guam Captured!

Post by RUPD3658 »

Guam was cleared out in a single turn. I guess all those bombardments really chewed up the defenders. I am assuming that putting Nimitz personally in charge of the bombardment TF helped their aim[8D]

Gordon caught me napping again and nailed a troop convoy between the AI and Wake. I lost 7 loaded transports and face losing the other 6 today. I have sent CVs to the area in hopes of catching the Jap CVs on their way home.

RE: Guam Captured!

Post by paullus99 »

Maybe 4 carriers or so, by the looks of the size of the strikes. Pretty enemic regardless - I bet he will try to raid & fade for a while.

Also, any chance of messing with his training runs in China? I don't know what your fighter or supply situation looks like, but it may be an option.

Chungking is starving and the AF is out of action so not much chance there. I cuaght him once when he was using bases within bomber range of India but he has since pulled deeper into China and out of range.

A CV raid against the bases might work if he moves too far south.

More of the same. KB ran down a few more damaged transports but 3 escaped with fragments on board.

I have CVs headed to a position between the last location of the KB and Tokyo hoping to catch it on the way home.

RE: Guam Captured!

Post by RUPD3658 »

Caught Gordon napping and destroyed close to 100 AC at Kuingham.

Invasion force has departed for Appari with 5500 AV worth of troops. I have spotted 30K troops at Apparri but becuase it is a clear hex I figure this is the easiet place to land. CVs will be covering the transports but expect the usual coordination errors. Hopefully most of the bases in the area are too bombed out to interfere with the landings.

PI invasion phase 2

Post by RUPD3658 »

Lost 14 MSWs and a DMS but got ashore at Aparri with minimal losses. I have a feeling I will be facing a massive air assault next turn. Hopefully the rain and the Jap AC losses for the last 2 turns will blunt this assault somewhat.

RE: PI invasion phase 2

Post by RUPD3658 »

I should take Appari next turn

Tojo pilots at Akita are either modest or can't count. Combat report shows 3 B-29s lost but I really lost 17 in A2A. Took out 82 oil centers and a few Tojos in A2A so it was still a good raid.
