Without good journalism, a free press, we veer toward authoritarianism. It's very surprising to hear so much critique of it here.
I can't speak for the others, but I yearn for a free and independent press. We don't have it and with the current media we are veering to authoritarianism.
I do read and listen to all sides, and I consider myself an independent thinker. See WITPQS link above for more detail.
You are misconstruing at least my argument. Very badly.

About 20 years ago when I lived in California, one year there had been a longer than average dry spell. Rain was impending, and it being SoCal there were TV reporters out and about waiting for it (I kid you not).ORIGINAL: MakeeLearn

Victor Davis Hanson's piece on so-called journalism from two days ago.
Do the Media Even Exist?

The desk anchors spoke with one reporter, who described basically nothing, then switched to another reporter somewhere else in LA. Almost immediately, they urgently announced they were switching back to the first reporter. When he came on he excitedly announced it was raining: "The rain is coming down! The rain is coming down and hitting the pavement! It is hitting the pavement!!! The rain is hitting the pavement!!!"

CNN contends new cases have stubbornly plateaued, overlooking the fact that testing is up considerably....and new cases may be declining (at least in comparison to the numbers CNN cited).

Prominent Democrat strategist James Carville has had enough of media "smugness." Back in February, he lashed out at a New York Times editorialist and the arrogance he sees in media elites. His rant was so memorable that it stuck with me for more than two months, prompting a quick internet search yesterday that found it: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... minds.html

An interesting tidbit here is now both North Carolina and Virginia count each positive test of covid, even if the same person is tested positively on concurrent or different days. 1 person, two or more tests, new cases.

Well, that should yield some interesting data that will be confusing to most everybody in the world...and useful to the media.

Luckily you're very clear in your lack of bias yourself![:D]
My bias is as well established as yours. [8D]
Thankfully neither of us are journalists. [&o]

How much do you folks read Associated Press? That's about as independent and fact-based as it gets? Or are you talking analysis rather than simply reporting?

The Worldwide Lockdown May Be the Greatest Mistake in History
https://townhall.com/columnists/dennisp ... y-n2568180
The idea that the worldwide lockdown of virtually every country other than Sweden may have been an enormous mistake strikes many -- including world leaders; most scientists, especially health officials, doctors and epidemiologists; those who work in major news media; opinion writers in those media; and the hundreds of millions, if not billions, of people who put their faith in these people -- as so preposterous as to be immoral. Timothy Egan of The New York Times described Republicans who wish to enable their states to open up as "the party of death."

That further damages the data.
I say further, because Aaffins and I know of stories in Richmond where in early March they simply weren't testing people, telling them to go home and self-quarantine. We have a friend who happily was able to recover this way. This is purely anecdotal, but seeing as I live in VA, wanted to add my 2 cents.

Add to this
- vitamin D deficit (yeah, unfortuneately we are not all the same. Probably a cofactor regarding much hitten minorities)
Yes, that would affect minorities more since they produce less Vitamin D than those without the natural tans. But also to be considered, during the winter those living above the 45 Latitude don't get enough concentrated sunlight to produce Vitamin D either. So take the supplements, eat those few foods that have the Vitamin D, consume the fortified dairy products, and improve your mood while protecting yourself from this new corona virus. Yes, Vitamin D deficiency can affect your mood. It is a big factor in the Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) which causes a lot of problems in February.
