just finished up the 3 current volumes of Black Cross/Red Star. Refinished re-reading Shore's Malta books and corrected several boo boos in tic tac'ing. Almost done with Hastings "Bomber Command". Need to get back to Shores 2nd TAC vol 1......still considering "American Caesar" as next morsal.
Havn't seen much on the shelves new-wise of interest at the bookstore.

Stupid blips...[:D]
Well, according to a speed-read of the book's page on combinedfleet.com, it's to try and kill off some of the myths of the battle, like they did with Shattered Sword and Midway.

very much so. they are a lot leaner than far raised pigs but normaly really tasty. only time they are bad is if they are really large boors or if the vegitation they are eating causes the meat not to have a good flaver(this is not a problem in west texas).ORIGINAL: Mynok

yeah other good new i got a call from my buddy. i am allowed to take one deer off the property durring deer season and as many hogs as i can shoot[:)].
Are feral hogs good eating?
They can be great eating when taken sort of young. The older ones can get stringy and tough. I have some clients that take bout a dozen or so per year off their farm in N. Mississippi and when they have a BBQ it is out of this world.

Hmmm....I liked Shattered Sword, but at times one did get a strong impression that the authors were trying a little too hard to bring something truely "new" and "relevent" to the table. (The whole ammo cart thing was a good example....as well as a disertation on how a cramped bridge might have affected Nagumo's decision making)

TITHE !!!
Oh, a sleeping drunkard .. up in Central Park;
Or a lion hunter .. in the jungle dark;
Or a Chinese dentist .. or the British Queen;
They all fit together, in the same machine;
Oh a whirling dervish .. and a dancing bear;
Or a Ginger Rogers .. and a Fred Astair;
Or a teenage rocker .. and the girls in France;
We are all partners, in this cosmic dance;
Nice, nice, very nice;
So many people in the same device.

Well, you're sorta right about Shattered Sword, and reading the write-up on the new book, it does smell a bit like that. Still, SS was a pretty good read, so this might be too. I'm not falling over my feet to order it (gotta read that Luftwaffe book you recommended), but I'll probably get it eventually.

A couple only had Mk 3's which wern't fully blindfire capable. That though is hardly new. Just read the biop on Amazon. Interesting, but only mildly. Books on specific battles tend to be down on my booklist given that there about a million battles and a billion books on many of them. A few notables of course get the exception....Kursk....Midway....Leyte (all inclusive....already have 2 books on that subject), Marianas etc.
The first reviewer was hilarious to read. Talk about anal nitpick! No wonder professional authors stay away from Internet forums!

The most interesting bit about Surigao for me would be that it's been relatively poorly covered in literature. I'll get the book, but probably not until next year.
