Soviet turn 33

Post by larryfulkerson »

So here it is the 33rd Soviet turn. Here's the minimap moves movie of turns 29 thru 33:

Image

I decided I didn't have enough units to build a line all the way from Moscow to Stalingrad so I have moved it to further north and decided to go east and west with it instead of north / south.

I was thinking more in terms of Odessa Kiv minsk etc.. where they have a supply center and those valuable tubes may be saved

I moved the arty outta those places before they could be destroyed. But then again, that left my defenders w/o any arty support. So you have to make a choice and stick with it I guess.

Axis turn 34

Post by Zort »

Mud continues. Once mistake it feels I have made is not reducing the pockets fast enough. I now have too many inf divs being used there then being pushed forward to the next attack. I also missed several guys hiding behind my lines. I thought I had covered all the hexes behind me but I guess I didn't. Having reduced Leningrad to one hex has allowed me to rest a couple of pzds.

Looking pretty scary for hte Soviets!!

I've just done the 1st move of my game using Buz's mod & will post a brief AAR at some stage - probably just the movie-pics of hte whole thing with a few comments.

i did disband a few units that were in cities tho - esp fortification regions as they were not going to get away & the cities were held by frozen troops anyway!

I'm thinking I don't have enough units to finish the defensive line going east west either. If that's the case then it's curtains for the Soviets.

Yes, please. I'm curious to see how an experienced player handles the Soviets. As you can see I'm not doing such a nominal job of it.

That sounds like the thing to do with them. How come I didn't think of that?

This is kinda neat to see what Larry is seeing. It looks like my army has just disappeared. Little does he know I have moved it all up north to attack Archangel.

Well, here it is the 36th Soviet turn. Here's the minimap moves movie from turns 32 thru 36: notice that I'm building a defensive line going east / west just south of Moscow:

Not so experienced - I've only played FitE once, and that was the game my opponent & I gave up to play this, and we only got to T32....!!

I only got the idea with the chat about supply etc in the main forum this week!!

SMK, let me know how the mod works. Based on what I am seeing Karri do to Larry and other comments I am looking at changing the shock to only be less then 100 for 6 turns. Also making separate rifle squads for the axis minors in the replacement pools.

Soviet turn 37

Post by larryfulkerson »

So um......here it is the 37th Soviet turn. Here's the minimap from turns 33 thru 37. Notice I finally got a maned line all the way across from east to west south of Moscow. Now I gotta put another line behind that one. Because if you know the soviet proficiency at all, having a line one hex wide is like having no line at all.

As a confirmed Russofile for the purposes of this game, I'd like to point out htat you don't need a line all that way jsut yet - the Germans haven't gotten that far - you just need to be able to keep building it faster than they can move past it - and if they did try to move past it I suggest that would leave them pretty vulnerable to beign cutoff themselves....

So um......things haven't changed all that much since it's the mud season but I've noticed that the Axis air interdiction is still active and I've put some of my planes on air superiority and I find that here in turn 40 especially, I've shot down some Axis planes:
