If you are going to install a Vichy government, a hex adjacent to Paris is worth more than any other hex in France, even one on the wrong side of the Seine. If there are any tanks across the Seine right now, I would probably attack the 4-3 INF (VII Corps) and attempt to capture two hexes adjacent to Paris at once, even at some risk. Winter Is Coming, and so are the Americans, after that. It doesn't feel like it's time to worry about casualties any more for the Axis. I presume the London MIL will be attacked too - this would begin to seal the Paris pocket before more French could retreat into it.

If you are going to conquer France, maneuvering to successfully get a unit across the Garonne River before the Allies solidify a line on it is worth more than a hex adjacent to Pairs.

And why do I always call it the Gironde River?
Trouble is that almost all the German units are disorganized. And the front lines are filled with disorganized units blocking second line units from reaching the front.

Attacking the HQI at around 3:2+1 and the 4-3 at slightly less than 2:1+1 is what I think the odds would be on those attacks. The likely result is that one of the attacks is a failure. And I prefer attacking the 3-3 to make room to manoeuvre for next turn. I agree that killing both those units would be good but the odds for that happening is almost the same as 2-4 German units are lost and that at least one of the units remain.

Edit: And no, there are no tanks across the Seine. And the only organized tank is the tank division shown on the picture.

I think we can get 3:1+1 on the HQI and 7:1 on the 3-3. This includes the Italian attacking the 3-3. And I think it uses up all the German moves. Although I am currently doing the end of turn of game 1 so I can not look.

Downside is we leave Lyons empty and the French MTN back in supply....

Do we leave Billotte instead - after all there is a good chance he will only retreat anyway?

If you use the ARM div to attack Billotte then you call the LCT. Can then pick assault if you want.

The MTN will be in supply depending on weather. And If France moves first or not. But it is to strong to attack. [:(]

I think there is a upside as well to leaving Lyons empty. France might actually fall into the trap and advance into the city. Thus disorganizing in Lyons and being OOS. Should be possible to destroy it there despite possible bad weather and the tough terrain.

I can't imagine picking the assault table but I'll make a decision later. I think we can go ahead with the moves.....

Hmm. I am a bit confused. Why did the motorized division move to the west of the 3-3 and OOS? Wouldn't it be better used if it supported the attack on the HQI?

I am occupied by the end of turn stuff for game 1 now. But I do not think that there were to many Italian moves. Move the Italian division as you see fit. Not sure if there are any other Italians to move.

No reorganization for either Italy nor Japan. Air rebases perhaps but that I need to look to make sure. Maybe rebasing fighters closer to the front but they should be is supply and out of ZOC and stack with friendly units.

The French unit becomes in supply I thought if the DIV stays where it is.

May I suggest that the MOT DIV join the 6-4 and attack Billotte and that the German MTN moves the hex West of the Italian so that the MTN cut the supply instead? The MTN is still in supply and can attack.

Orm what am I missing here.

I start with 2 saved oil in Berlin.

This turn I save those 2 oil again. In the prelim planning phase I save the Ploesti oil, the German oil and the synth oil for 7.

In the reorg phase the oils showing are only 5 - although the wording in the bottom right says Total oil available for reorganisation = 6. However, if I press reorganise all - it only allows the 5 shown to be used. 5? 6? 7? I'm confused [&:]

I figured it out. But I am in a rush for some errands so I will explain further if this is not good enough.

The main reason for the confusion
- The oil in Ploesti can be used for production or saved. But not for reorganization because Hungary is neutral.

Other minor reasons.
- The oil traded from USSR can not be used for reorganization this turn.
- Then there are two oil traded to Italy.

I suggest that the oil from USSR goes to production.

Maybe this issue can be helped by reorganizing with Italian assistance. I'll get back to this later today.

This is my suggested EoT orders.

Sep/Oct EoT

Prelim Saving 3 oil (in addition to the 2 Trade received being saved in Berlin).
Prague (Synth) in place
Austria (resource) in Lodz
Germany (resource) in Lodz
= 13 build points

Stay at Sea – Nothing
RTB – U-boats to Kiel
He-115c to Leghorn (or as advised by Orm)

Reorganise all units except convoys, old battleships, worst submarine and 2 x naval bombers (5 oil exactly).

Italian oil could be used for the NAV bombers (0.4pts required) but depends on what Italy needs to do and maximising the 0.4 so as not to expend unnecessarily.

Production
1 x FTR
1 x NAV (4)
1 x PIL
1 x SUB (1st Cycle)
2 x MIL

Destroy Factory in Vichy

Reinforcement
2 x Sub to Kiel
He-100 and Do-17 to Aachen
MIL to wherever

Okay so based on our conversations, the above build plan is confirmed and we have a plan for future builds. The only question therefore is how you want to play the oil situation i.e. whether you can get the two German floatplanes up and running this turn (Italian oil contribution required) or leave disorganised.

Do you think it is better to reorganize the German naval bombers or the Italian HQA Graziani (NE of Lyons)?

Your call as I assume the naval bombers are available upon request to the Italians. However, its likely to be a short turn and bad weather may be a factor so I'd plump for Graziani personally.

We are of the same mind then. [:)] I prioritize the Italian naval bombers over the German ones because they are either better, or cheaper to reorganize.

Not much to say on that - all looks good - glad to see the AMPH underway. How many AMPH / TRS are you targeting?

Not decided yet. I often try to make do with the initial AMPH and use the marines and divisions for the initial landings, Then use the TRS combined with HQs to reinforce the landing.

If I get the good AMPH then I do not think I will build another for a while. But a couple of TRS are likely to be ordered soon. Although that depends because the naval program have had some delays so far and is way behind.
