It's 78 DegF here[8D]

winter here also, a bit of snow on the road, just enough to have "fun"; temperature is damn low, around 0, but the wind is blowing, with a "feeled temperature" of -8

i can't avoid thinking many things about this, but one of them is that probably, a good bunch of virtual hunters won't be as good in real life....[8|];
i have others feeling, but for the good manners of this forum, i won't tell.

Hi Dixie! What do you have to do for your test? At my age, I have to get in the push up position, 2 sit ups and tie my shoes for the run. [:D]

It's a max effort thing, as it turns out my max effort is exactly the minimum score I need to pass [:D] Until I'm 30, it's lvl 9.10 on the shuttle run, 20 press-ups in 1 minute and 35 sit-ups in 1 minute. When I get to 30, I'll need 9.04 on the shuttles and 18(?) press ups and 30(?) sit ups.

Previously (3 years ago) the age groups were different and the levels were lower. When I turned 25 my level was level 8.10 on the run, 13 press ups and 30 sit-us. Now I'm older the levels are higher [X(] I can pass it, but I struggle 'cos I'm not built for speed [:D]

It used to be as many push ups, sit ups as you could do, a standing jump (why?) and then 1 1/2 miles in less than 12 minutes. And then a swimming test, 100 yds in overalls and tread water for 5 minutes.

I'd prefer to do the 1 1/2 mile run, there wouldn't be so many sharp turns and the scenery would change [:D] What makes the test more fun is that we're doing it on a highly varnished floor [:@] I've heard rumours we'll be getting it at some point, although I suspect the PTIs won't be happy going outside in the cold [:D]

No idea why you'd have a standing jump, and swimming isn't something the air force is going to use too often (especially not in the desert). The push ups and sit ups are as many as you can do (in theory). There are three pass marks, pass all three sections at a particular level and there are varying times between your next test. I achieved the first one which means I'm classed as fit for another 6 months. Higher levels mean a 12 month period between tests.

IMO, the fact I can do more push ups and sit ups doesn't matter, just because I don't do X press ups doesn't mean I can't. It doesn't make any difference to my score unless I pass the run at the next highest level so there's no point spending my strength on 'wasted' press ups when I've got a 12 hour day to work ahead of me [:(] The fact I don't get to level 11.6 on the run is because I can't though [:D]

I'm probably fitter now than I was 2-3 years ago, or maybe I'm putting more effort in. I even manage to drag myself down to the gym 2-3 times a 'week' whether I want to or not (no real weeks for me, either I'm at work or I'm not). The biggest issue is that I can't usually be spared from work during my working day and I sure as hell don't feel like going to the gym after a 12 hour day.

Hi all,

The copy of Wang Xizhi's work measures 24.5cm x 13.8cm (9.8in x 5.5in):

A rare Chinese calligraphy scroll has fetched 308m yuan (£29m; $46m) - the second-highest amount paid for an artwork at auction in China, the state-run Xinhua news agency says.

The scroll on silk with four lines of characters is a copy of ancient Chinese calligrapher Wang Xizhi's work.

Officials at the China Guardian auction in Beijing did not reveal any details of the buyer.

In June, another calligraphy scroll was purchased for 437m yuan.

The copy of Wang's work measuring 24.5cm x 13.8cm (9.8in x 5.5in) was sold at auction on Saturday.

The scroll originally had nine lines of characters but was torn into parts, so buyers were bidding only for the first part with four lines, Xinhua said.

It is a copy of of a work by Wang Xizhi - a Jin dynasty figure who is known as the Sage of Calligraphy. However, none of his works are known to have survived.

Experts believe that the scroll sold at auction dates from the Tang dynasty between 618-907.

Morning friends !!

Your talk about sport is tiring me [;)].

My car is damaged....trouble with all the electronic stuff in the engine (and i used to buy the model with the less electronic stuff [8|] ), and i can't accelerate [:@]. I just avoided a colliding with a truck when i realized i could not give power.
Hopefully, it won't cost me too much because under warranty

Had Claire home tonight for a "short time" : at 7 pm she was sleeping [:D]. But that was good !!
And Yuri, thanks thanks thanks for the flower idea, she appreciated [:)]

Very happy for you Eric. [&o]

Now about that car. The trouble is that its probably French. See, your wife should be French (you got that one right), but your car should be German, your watch Swiss, your tea English, etc. [:D]
