I am quite surprised that as a non-coffee drinker I have not been banished from Washington state.

You wouldn't know that around here. There is an espresso stand on every corner and a Starbucks in every grocery store... as well as several smaller coffee roasting companies in town (one has locations here in Olympia and Atlanta, Georgia - what a weird mix!).
