You may have too many of the flamethrower tank battalions, since you are producing only 8 tanks per turn. [:(]

As long as each unit only lose 1 per turn I am good [:D]

Turn 192

Overall
The Axis does not fall back far enough this turn, allowing us to conduct 48 attacks this turn, for a result of 11 held, 34 retreats, 2 routs and 1 surrender. Attacking with mechanized corps are expensive in terms of AFVs for sure...
Axis : 101.000 troops and 352 AFVs
USSR : 124.000 troops and 723 AFVs.

Units
2 TACs are sent to the reserves this turn. We start to move the units that will be disbanded back towards the railhead as I understand that is one of the requirements to be allowed to disband them.
Our forces claim a growth of a mere 3.000 troops this turn.

Pools
With a total of 135.000 workers reporting to the manpower pool this turn, it ends at 5.723.
Vehicle pool : 219.939.
Armaments pool : 982.349.

Units destroyed
The German 303rd Infantry Division, the 20th Rumanian Infantry Division and the Slovakian Slov. Infantry Division are all destroyed this turn.

Partisans
6 units are forced to retreat, leaving us with 25 active units. Our guys perform 21 sabotague missions, and are given 8 supply drops as a reward.

it takes a while, but now you are begin to think soviet, comrade. :-)

REgarding your bourgeoisic education, this is a amazing improvement, Marshall!
You achieved the first goal, you survived. (Ehm, to be honest, this is the main factor to be promoted as hero of su. :-) Most of of our comrades disappear after getting peltonized. )

No, honestly, this patch favours the German a little bit... :-)

Hehehe thank you [:)]

I think I know where I went wrong, guess there really is nothing like hindsight [;)]
All I have to do now is to remember my lessons untill my next game as the USSR hehe.

I agree 100% forget the partisans and see about using aircraft transports to supply your advance units! Keep that drive alive and pushing forward.

AGN is still held by the Fins, I am trying to locate their line in the far north, but that sector is guarded by my weakest units, so I am not able to push there as he retreatet 4 hexes and built up to level 3 forts.
AGC is falling back, but slowly as I am only able to take 4-5 hexes per turn there, but as soon as I push enough they will fall back one more hex.
Most of the action takes place south of Moscow, the next big push should take me across the Dnepr at its easternmost bend.

Turn 193

Overall
The Axis keep falling back everywhere south of Moscow, it now seems they try to entrench behind the Dnepr, but I think we should breach the easternmost bend of the river in one or two turns if the weather allows it. The enemy units south of Moscow are all worn thin now, and their average CV is about 2 (most being at 1, with a handful between 5 and 10). We manage 28 attacks this turn for a result of 2 held, 22 retreats, 3 routs and 1 surrender. We keep on flying in fuel and supplies to our mechanized and armored corps, but the real issue now is the railroads, with a MP cost of 3 per hex, our engineers cannot repair the rail lines fast enough at the moment.
Losses are claimed at;
Axis : 50.000 troops and 141 AFVs
USSR : 85.000 troops and 321 AFVs.

Units
No changes here, and our forces claim a net growth of 49.000 troops this turn.

Units disbanded
1 naval rifle brigade, 2 rifle divisions, 1 rifle corps, 1 AA brigade and 1 gun brigade are disbanded this turn.

Pools
149.000 workers arrive at the manpower pool this turn, ending it at 63.286.
Vehicle pool : 223.827 (you would think our allies could spare more than 1.500 trucks per week..)
Armaments pool : 980.213.

Liberation
The historical battleground at Poltava is liberated.

Units destroyed
This turn we destroyed the 50th Fortified Zone.

Partisans
15 units are forced to retreat, leaving us with 21 active units on the map. These guys then perform 5 sabotague missions, and are given 3 supply drops to keep things going.

Turn 194

Overall
The Axis fall back in AGC, once more limiting the ammount of attacks we can make. One major effort is made this turn however, as we secure a beachhead on the western bank of the Dnepr. In the southernmost part of the front we almost break all the way through (a HQ stack forced to replace), but I think they might be digging in behind the Dnepr here as well. All in all we manage 29 attacks for 7 held, 20 retreat and 2 surrender. Losses are better this turn, with a 1:1 in infantry and a 1:2 in tanks;
Axis : 79.000 troops and 194 AFVs
USSR : 83.000 troops and 441 AFVs.

Units
10 TACs are sent to the reserves, and we change all aerial units to only fly daytime missions, so our partisans should not see so many supply drops from now on.

Units disbanded
4 rifle corps and 1 AA brigade is disbanded.

Pools
135.000 workers arrive at the manpower pool, ending it at 118.394.
Vehicle pool : 223.730.
Armaments pool : 981.827.

Liberation
Our valiant forces drove into Vyazma this turn.

Units destroyed
The German 129th Infantry Division, 293rd Infantry Division, 121st Infantry Division, 170th Infantry Division were all destroyed this turn.

Partisans
10 units are chased away leaving 25 on the board. Our guys perform 11 acts of sabotague, and 18 supply drops were made.

Turn 195

Overall
The Axis fall back alot just in the juncture of AGC and AGS, we follow up as best we can, but we are too slow to cover 3 hexes in alot of places. We do still manage a total of 38 attacks this turn, scoring 12 held, 24 retreats, 1 rout and 1 surrender. 12 held means our losses are once more higher than the Axis losses;
Axis : 59.000 troops and 270 AFVs
USSR : 91.000 troops and 560 AFVs.
In the far south, the days for the Axis hold of the Kerch peninsula seems limited.

Units
1 TAC is sent to the reserves, while we upgrade som TRS units in the reserves to the C47.
Our forces register a net growth of 162.000 in the remaining units.

Units disbanded
1 rifle division and 1 rifle corps are disbanded this turn.

Pools
134.000 workers arrive at the manpower pool, ending it at 46.191.
Vehicle pool : 224.502
Armaments pool : 977.079.

Liberation
We liberate Bryansk and Dnepropetrovsk (I hope the Axis does not push me back out here so I have to type the name again[:D]).

Units destroyed
3/4th Luftwaffe Field Division is destroyed this turn.

Partisans
With 9 units forced to retreat, we are left with 26 on the map. Our guys then perform 18 sabotague actions. As expected by the changed orders for our transports, 0 supply drops are made.

Turn 196

Overall
The Axis does not fall back anywhere, nor do they try to break out their encircled units. Some fortified zones are left as speedbumps, but we simply smash them and advance anyway. All in all we perform 47 attacks, and score 8 held, 36 retreat and 3 surrender. Unfortunately most of the held results were made by armoured and mechanized troops, so our AFV loss is high, but that is also the case for the Axis;
Axis : 120.000 troops and 426 AFVs
USSR : 130.000 troops and 627 AFVs.

Units
4 TACs were sent to the reserves. When mud arrives, all mobile forces will be pulled back somewhat to make sure they are at maximum strength when the weather clears up again.
Our forces claim a growth of 44.000 troops this turn. (Again, this is not really a net growth for the overall size of our army anmore, but now a net growth amongst the remaining units).

Units disbanded
2 rifle corps were disbanded this turn.

Pools
135.000 workers arrive at the manpower pool, ending it at 63.841 (the reason for the increased number lately is the disbanding of units, not that we are starting to fill up our army).
Vehicle pool : 233.853.
Armaments pool : 978.451.

Liberation
We liberate Zaporozhye.

Units destroyed
The German 216th Infantry Division, 263rd Infantry Division, 8th Jager Division, 44th Fortified Zone, 120th Fortified Zone and the Rumanian 19th Rumanian Infantry Division were all destroyed this week.

Weather
The weather has changed from Blizzard to Snow. Not long begore the mud is here now.

Partisans
Once more no supply drops are made, but our guys still perform 7 sabotague missions this turn. We are left with 23 units on the map after 14 are chased away by the Axis.

Fine, did you see the main difference to the other endgames?
Yes, he's in the open... and that's a lot of trashed Divisions. [:)]

now just accelerate the tempo a bit more (but beware of his new Panzer-Divs)

1. Not sure what you are thinking about here...There are loads of differences between every game played...
2. How???? When a 15 : 1 pre battle CV ratio fails time and again I am not sure how I can be quicker.

Turn 197

Overall
Once more the Axis fall back wherever I am close to surround a unit, which again limit the ammount of attacks I can make along the front, and as usual the Finnish front is a no-go. They are now the elite formation of the Axis. All in all 31 attacks are made for 7 held, 21 retreat, 2 rout and 1 surrender. Losses in AFVs are still high on both sides, my pools are growing though, so I can stand these losses, I am not sure the Axis can;
Axis : 88.000 troops and 324 AFVs
USSR : 123.000 troops and 584 AFVs.

Units
10 TACs are sent to the reserves this turn, and all P63A's were switched from flying fighter missions to bomber missions. Our ground forces claim a net growth of 70.000 troops this turn.

Units disbanded
2 rifle corps were disbanded this turn.

Pools
156.000 workers arrive at the manpower pool, ending it at 63.076.
Vehicle pool : 236.124.
Armaments pool : 968.685.

Units destroyed
The 113th Fortified Zone, 21st Rumanian Infantry Division and the 3rd Rumanian Security Division were destroyed this turn.

Operation Surprise
This is a very small operation, 1 rifle division and 1 rifle brigade are shipped to the Kerch peninsula where hope was that they would rout a Rumanian HQ. Sadly our recon flights let us down. CV is up 3 points after supply were dropped after the screenshot was taken.

Partisans
11 units are chased away, leaving 17 active units. These guys then perform 8 sabotague missions.

I don't understand why you are disbanding units, especially rifle corps? It seems like if you ever get a major breakthrough and extend the length of your line, you will want as many troops as possible to man the line, even if some of them are a bit slow?

They are 8 MP units and basically not able to keep up. By the time the line gets so stretched that they could be put to use, the Axis falls back and shortens the line as he is the one that is really bleeding units at the moment. Remember that I started the offensive in -44 with a much longer line, and that the longer west I get, the shorter the front becomes.

In my oppinion it is then better to disband those corps and "recycle" those men and machines back into the fighting units.

The problem is your fronline units don't get many replacements whatsoever. I would keep the guys in a replacement army 12 hexes behind the front on a railhead. There they should get enough mp and build up moral and experience and you can ship them to the front if you need an extra corps or two.

Ok will do that in the next game, disbanded those 8 MP units now anyway, but that the number of reinforcements are not affected I do not understand, disband 2 rifle corps and I get roughly 60.000 new men in the manpower pool which next turn transforms into reinforcements sent to my units, a pool that has been empty pretty much since late -42...
