You would also need to consider whether you are using the MWiF Break Pact optional which is different than the paper rules.
We do play with the MWIF break pack option so stopping Germany from breaking the pact in '41 is not a possibility.

So Ormster, what would you suggest for the Soviets? Defending the borders is a no no - but how far back is prudent do you think?
I predict that Germany will turn on USSR in '41.

Time to plan a rearward defence then. [:)]

And whether USSR will require any CW assistance and if CW has any possibility to actually offer any assistance.

Convoy points, young Allies, convoy points. The most boring unit in the game but the one that won the war for the Allies.

Yep, a rearward defence it is. I will start moving units accordingly (subject to the ChiComms needs). I do not think an Iraqi venture makes any sense at the moment.

Whether the CW can help or not we'll have to see - we just need the US and quickly!

It would only make sense if Axis turns towards Syria or Egypt.

I mostly suggested it out of frustration with the traded Iraqi oil.

I feel a bit frustrated at the moment. I've thought for a while now that Germany will turn on USSR during '41 but I see no sign of preparations of that except one HQA built last turn.

But at the same time I do not think a invasion of UK are on the agenda either. No air lift or sea lift produced.

And so far there has been no interest in Egypt. Italy has been surprisingly passive in Africa.

So I have a hard time making long term plans for CW. Not that I do not have lots of crisis management to do. [:D]

Yes. I too am surprised that units are still being transferred west rather than a gradual build up east.

But maybe its a trap to get the Soviets setting up forward? If not I do not know what the plan is. It must be Sealion mustn't it?

...and still the push west continues. One armour and one mechanised in the east. The rest? Militia and weak infantry.....

What is going on?

No idea.

But if Germany does not turn East soon then I am going to suggest that USSR stuff the border. Get as high offensive ratio as possible.

It is, of course, easy for me to suggest. [:D]

Well presumably Gibraltar falls next impulse then they have the rest of Sep/Oct - Mar/Apr to get everyone in place. They are then to a degree hostage to weather/turn length fortune - although maybe they are so used to getting Fine/long turns that they have put that to the back of their minds.

For now all I can do is keep moving units forward while their intentions become clearer and as Spain gets mopped up and they unmask more of their evil Machiavellian schemes [the Axis players both twirl non-existent moustaches in synchronised fashion while stroking the white cats sat purring in their laps......] Oh the banality of evil!

And with forward you meant moving the units into defensive positions I presume and hope.

Indeed.

Although if Gibraltar falls next impulse, without Germany playing a offensive chit, I am going to be a tiny bit annoyed.

Yes - forward to pack the border - unless everything goes for the Axis in which case I am going to get the hell out of there.

Anyways, enough of that old cobblers.

So Ormster do you have a plan of action at this stage for the CW, a few ideas kicking around or have you yet to bring your considerable intellect to bear on this one?

A plan for this impulse? For the remainder of the turn? For next turn? For next year? Or for the year after that? Or for the remainder of the game?

That old ship had no priority at all.

Now that you reminded me I should, perhaps, change priority. Something to ponder on, at least.

It was only in jest. You are right, in game terms the ship has no significance other than it is another Axis unit that would be better off dead - particularly as the Bay of Biscay and environs is going to become an incredibly hotter place very soon (it is already bomb alley). So please forget any ramblings of mine....

Now, where were we? Ah yes:

Sink the Bismarck!!!!

Note the two additional ! - this is now serious [;)]
