I even created the graphic for the Sergeant Major rank Insignia. Here's all five of them for comparison:

Could we customise these images to correspond to a particular country's insignia?Curtis Lemay wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 9:08 pm I even created the graphic for the Sergeant Major rank Insignia. Here's all five of them for comparison:

That would confuse players. The rank names are country-specific, but the insignia need to be universally the same for all nationalities.Ratbag55 wrote: Sun Feb 08, 2026 8:10 amCould we customise these images to correspond to a particular country's insignia?Curtis Lemay wrote: Sun Feb 01, 2026 9:08 pm I even created the graphic for the Sergeant Major rank Insignia. Re: Hierarchy Module Document
I've finished updating my "France 1944 D-Day" scenario. This took three weeks and a day (and they were all full-days!). This is my largest scenario, so this was to be expected. Note that there were 294 Formations, 2345 Units, 312 Commanders, and 1573 Events (1012 added). It required mass research on Commanders and the Hierarchy. I also had to fix a bug with the Hierarchy Dialog just to get the Hierarchy to display right.

Re: Hierarchy Module Document
Here are the Allied and German Hierarchies. Note that detached formations or commanders are prefixed with "! !". Note that the US First Army starts subordinate to the UK 21st AG. It is switched to the US 12th AG on turn 17. Similar for the US VIII Corps that starts with the US First Army then switches to the US Third Army on turn 17.

Here are the OOB-Formation Dialogs showing both Allied and German usage of 32 character names, nationalities, service arms, and sizes:

Re: Hierarchy Module Document
In order to facilitate the splitting of units up into Alternate Forces, I recolorized multiple units/formations to distinguish them from each other. Here are shots of the suite of colors the units were divided up into:

Re: Hierarchy Module Document
Now, once the Alternate Forces are defined, I wanted to get the colors to display as they were before on the map. That required a color mod. Here I show how the color file was modified.

Re: Hierarchy Module Document
Now, with the color mod applied, unit colors look back to normal. But, under the hood, they are modified.

Re: Hierarchy Module Document
Note that I had to fix a bug with the Hierarchy displaying detached formations. It was skipping the NEXT formation instead of the detached one. So, here you see the US First Army showing in both the US 12th Army Group and the UK 21st Army Group. Meanwhile, the US Third Army isn't shown at all (as if it were the detached one). Compare to the Allied Hierarchy shown above, where only the lead formation of US First Army is shown in the 12th Army Group and US Third Army is shown correctly.

Re: Hierarchy Module Document
I've still got other TOAW-IV coding errors to fix that have turned up in my test out of the updated scenario. Stay tuned.

There are two things I've noticed, and perhaps many others know.Curtis Lemay wrote: Sun Dec 01, 2024 10:10 am There is no "outline" format on this board, so I used the Outline mode of Word and saved it as an attachment:
First: helicopters cannot be targeted by enemy aircraft or ground defenses during transport or empty flight. i suspect toaw III 3.4.0202 patch break something.
Second: air-lift(by airplanes) missions can be targeted by enemy aircrafts, but not by ranged ground defense systems such as SAM.
Can we have hope for improvements to these issues in the upcoming update, or will solving these problems lead to other issues, and is there no easy way? I don't want to be misunderstood, thank you for the innovations you brought to the game, i think most of them needed. But especially the thing about the helicopter can be quite a disappointment for the Vietnam scenarios.

Re: Overview
Ralph lowered helicopter vulnerability back in TOAW-III as shown in the attached. Perhaps he went too far in that direction? I'll look at it. I'll look at air-embarked units vs. AAA as well.kutaycosar wrote: Mon Mar 16, 2026 9:23 amThere are two things I've noticed, and perhaps many others know.Curtis Lemay wrote: Sun Dec 01, 2024 10:10 am There is no "outline" format on this board, so I used the Outline mode of Word and saved it as an attachment:
