Bummer. Not that I am criticizing your opponents, as there would be no way to come up with a good HR on this, but I suspect getting over the Hump with a full bomb load would've been tough. I know B-24s flew supply missions, but was bombing realistic?

Actually happy for him to do that, stops him bombing Myitkynia!

I think we can hold Myitkynia if we can keep his air away at least half the time. When we are constantly hit though it does start to add up.

We are now over 900AV there, but he has bought in more troops, and is rotating troops in andout.

Looking at a limited offensive towards Katha to try and divide the focus a bit more.

It will take us a litle while to consolidate in China... the risk we need to watch now is a mass Chinese Army forming...

At least our China based bombers are now "expert"! We are rotating some of these out and bringing in rookies.

Reading PzB AAR vs Andy Mac when he tried to land between Timor and Java got me to start harvesting high GrdB skilled pilots from some of my bomber units. PzB went through a huge number of pilots in his Helen groups and needed those with high skill to hit the base and troops hard.

I cycle my experienced bomber pilots from front line duty in China on a regular basis. A lot of them may be flying Sonia's, but experience is experience!

Yes our training units are now infull swing on ground attacks.

They initially focused on ASW. Now all our ASW groups are full, and we have some spares, so back to bombardments.

The ASW groups are Naval attack, 50 ASW and the rest training or rest at below 6000 feet to build up a pool of low naval attack expertise as well.



So far Andrew has not targeted our bomber missions in Burma, so losses are low. He is focussed on hitting our forward troops and occasionally our bases (although the later are now usually too well protected).

This has enabled Andrew to advance in the ground in Burma... however he has failed to gain any dominance in the air and we have been able to ambush his fighters. As a consequence he is short on airframes, and he is mainly restricted to escorting to a single target, and defend his bases.

He is complaining about a lack of fighters in comparison to the Japanese (thanks to our production control). This is partially valid, however he really hasn't targeted our airbases like he needs to to get the fighter advantage.

He is starting to in the Pacific, and it is paying off for him.

Logistics Thoughts
A couple of months ago we changed how we were moving oil, fuel and resourse out of the DEI. I'd like to report that this method has worked well

Oil is moved thus:
Palembang to Singapore in several 2850 TK TF.
Meden (Sumatra) to Singapore in 1250 TK.
Brunei/Miri to Saigon in 2850 TK.
Balikpapan to Sorebaya in 1250 TK.
Boela/Babo to Kendari

All these (except Boela/Babo) are in shallow water so the PB type vessels are effective ASW platforms.

From Singapore oil is sent to Cam Ranh bay in the resource convoys (that have TK capacity), or direct to the Home Islands in occasional large protected convoys (alternating with Sorebaya).
Sorebaya and Kendari send direct to the Home Islands.

Some (but not a lot) travels the Thailand/IndoChina route by itself...


Fuel
Palembang direct to Saigon in 7-8k TK shuttles.
Oosthaven to Batavia.
Brunei to Saigon or philipines (for fleet use).
Balikpapan and Tarakan for fleet useage in the Pacific
Java to either Cam Ranh Bay or the home islands depending on sub threat.

Resources are collected at Singapore, Cam Ranh bay, Kendari, Davao, Manila. We use the xAK with TK capacity to move oil at the same time fromthoseports (Singapore, Kendari, Haiphong) that have it.


Oil Fuel and resources from Saigon/Cam Ranh Bay goes to Haiphong. Shipping through the shallow water up the coast (each convoy hand plotted) to Japan via the southern tip of Korea.

Now we have opened central China the resources and fuel is travelling through to Fusan in Korea... but we are still sending some convoys from Haiphong as the sub threat is currently low, and the southern Korea ports are at full capacity.


You can't afford to ship too much oil at a time from Palembang, it slows the port down and the fuel builds up. We have the mix about right now, with about 20k of oil and fuel in Palembang... but several hundred thousand resources. Opening Oosthaven to resource and fuel shipments has worked well with short shuttles to Java. We also ship out supply this way to Java, then send a decent convoy to Burma.

8 Apr 1943 Tsuyung in China falls!

Indicators and Warnings
Geraldton in Western Australia suddenly makes a level 5 airfield from level 2. From there he can easily shut down Port Hedland at a range of 14, and we can only retailiate with CV forces. This is expected, suprised it took this long.

At the same time the unit count in Tennant Creek in central Oz has gone from 13 to 17.

Suspect he has pulled out the US and unrestricted forces, which will go west, and replaced with more Aussie forces. He will then begin a more methodical advance up the centre, building airbases to max as he goes.

These activities, and a lack of any other movement continues to indicate that Oz is the central hub, and that he will attack northeast and probably northwest from there.

Situation in Burma
Starting to advance units out to try and draw his bombers from Myitkyina. If he doesn't take the bait we will advance into the jungle terrain, much better than the open ground we are in now!

Our defensive line to the rear in the Jungle is taking shape.

Our central Burma airfields are now 8's heading to 9. Forts are 6.

We now have the option of retreating via China as well. It is now far more important to hold Lashio and Bhamoand both are being worked on and are now useul places to have.

While Andrew continues to hit our troopss, rather than first achieving air dominance we have a good chance. We attrit his airforce through ambushes.

We hit the normal places, then a bit unexpected, but prepared for, he attacks Meiktila. We loose 22 of the Tojo IIa and4 Nick. But inflict 2:1 on him. The airfield is closed but few of our planes were hit as they were out bombing. The B-25 D1 are amesome fighter killers! The P-38 come late, gatecrashing our fighters... glad they didn't get there earlier! Importantly we loose only 6 pilots.

I concur. The new LoC is crucial, but only useful if it stays open. Thus, Kweiyang becomes one of the most important points on the map. However, over time the KMT's ability to counterattack and cut the cord will continually decline as your conquests in China are sufficient to really start pinching them on the supply front. Getting or even isolating Sian and Lanchow (No Oil = No Chinese HI) would be the nail in the coffin.
