Hey Petey: I just sent you a Xmas present. A new TOAW scenario. It's so new it hasn't been published yet. I'll send it to anyone who wants a copy.

I think I may be in trouble you guys. I just got some more moves from John and he's made another unopposed landing at an unguarded
port and has captured some airfields and has some paratroopers on one ready to fly off to my sore spot next turn. I attacked one of the
paratroopers and forced it off the airfield but that has left the port open. D'oh. I've got troubles in double doses.

Here's why it's so important that the Axis Brandenburgers be forced off the airfields so they don't fly. My town of MayCop is a very
important objective. If the Axis captures that by sacraficing a paratrooper then the Soviet production will drop by 5% and the supply
level will drop from 32 to 27 or so. D'oh. John has blown the appropriate bridges so that I can't quite get a unit into that hex this turn
and so next turn it's vulnerable, well I guess the next time John gets a turn he's probably going to go for it. I would.

My losses so far have been oppressive. I figured out that I'm losing Rifle Squads just about as fast as I'm producing them. All this
attacking in the Crimea area alone causes that.

I've got at least two units in the Crimea that should be on garrison duty somewhere instead of in the front lines. Their proficiency is so
low that fighting w/ them is just getting them killed. I gotta pull them off the line and make them guard the latrine or something.

Here's how the air war is going in T51. We're both experiencing heavy losses I guess. My losses are probably higher than his. I'm
just guessing.

Larry:

Perhaps you can use your paratroops either as John has or in important rear areas to recapture or seize Some of those key hexes John threatens to grab. Then again I don't know how many you have.

On a more well thought out note I think you may be slowly gaining the upper hand in the air war

I have ONE paratrooper unit and I have used it to do just as you suggest. I flew it to block his troops from venturing further into Russia.
There are airfields nearby, surely, that I can use as a springboard to reclaim those objectives that John captures. Good thought. Keep
those good ideas coming my friend.

Yeah, and it's about time. It's turn 50+ so I'm thinking that even though he's getting SOME replacements I think maybe he's running
short on planes in the pool. We'd have to ask John what his losses are to know for sure. Maybe he will read this between the lines
and post something. We can only hope.

Look at the ratio between the attack factor and defense factor on those low proficiency units. It is much lower than the normal units. They are good only for defense. Using them to attack gets them chewed up and they go into reorg.

Yeah, I know. I found that out. Those two particular units shouldn't be in the Crimea at all. I'm going to ship all the low prof. units to the
front lines somewhere and put them to better use. The units they relieve on the front lines can be used for a reserve or something.

Hey, did you look over that Sicily to Brenner Pass scenario? I'd like to hear your opinions about it.

Sorry but no I have not had a chance to look at it yet. I'm traveling this week and next or so. I'm looking forward to giving it a try. I'll let you you know what I think.

I just got some moves from John and I watched the replay and John flew the Brandenburgers, well, one of them, from the scene of the
crime to the due West direction. I guess they got a week-end pass and wanted to go home. Anyway, I scroll down to the scene of the
crime and found some more Axis planes in Ta-jack-a-Stan and wondered how the air war was going so I opened the air briefing display
and I see this screen. And this is before any of the airfield strikes I had planned to make this turn. Pretty cool.

Oh nooooooooooo. A disaster. John got his units to Maikop before I did and captured it. Now the production level drops and the
supply level drops and his supply level increases and I lose the use of the railroad. I needed that. I think I may have a problem.

John posted some losses and so I thought it prudent to post some myself.

Here's the kind of thing I'm doing w/ my airplanes to win the war. It's costly but I think maybe it's working.
