Right I have to admit I am a bit lost by the Pacific War at the moment, so if you think my handling of the European theatre was amateurish then you may want to give this a wide berth....
The one thing I really miss about the board game is having that overall "feel" for what is going on - i.e. being able to pour over the maps.
Oh well, let's just give it a go and see what happens....[:)]

First things first. I have declared war with the Japanese in order not to get surprised by the US. However, the Northern Monsoon is suffering from Storm weather so attacks in Malaya and the Philippines are going to be real fun [8|]
Edit: I can't invade the Philippines anyway... [:D]

Back to Europe and the big question is whether or not to commit the Regia Marina (in support of the attack on Greece). This could be suicidal but the fact is the troops attacking Athens need the naval gunfire support; the fleet sails!

In the South China Sea a Japanese fleet goes looking for any CW convoys that hadn't got the message that this is now a war zone. Unfortunately for the Japanese, their search throwing was rubbish....

The Germans attempt three ground strikes in Latvia and one on Athens. The Italians do not assist - leaving their bomber to support the attack if required. The Soviet fighter strength is now dispersed and cannot intervene without being out-gunned.
The first attack catches Zhukov, but the halving for forest saves the Soviet HQ.

Unfortunately with that successful ground strike the situation in Greece now looks kind of bad. [:(]
Edit: No worries though. Allies already won and the Axis will soon find out. Greece matter little in that regard.

The Regia Marina add shore bombardment factors sufficient to make the attack 7:1 in Athens.
To bring the odds up in Latvia the Germans would need almost their entire air force. They decline to intervene.
And so to the first attack - Athens.
Its a 7:1 +1 on the Assault table.....
...how weird is that? Another 6. The Greek capital falls - there'll be images of Dorniers over the Acropolis next....

This is a defence for Italy that peskpesk and I made for the Italian AI thread. The green squares are where Italian corps sized go and the dotted redline are where there is a weaknesses in the defence. The main idea with this defence is to give a +1 for ZOC to the notional defender.Similar question for Italy. What do the Italians try and defend? Assume Sardinia? Albania? Sicily? Taranto? Rome? Naples? and at least a couple of Corps in the north?
We made three variants using 7 to 12 corps. More is recommended when a serious invasion invasion is imminent.

The Greek Navy - including its precious convoy points is missed by the Italian Fleet. I put some of the units in Cyprus before I remember that Malta is available.... good grief.
