Yeah, the sheer size of the image DB is a big stack for the needle to find. it's understandable it hides here and there

Hey there,

I would like to suggest some new files that would replace files that I feel might have an unnecessary large size.

My reasoning here is to reduce load time, disk space and downloading time, especially since that images can now be automatically downloaded on-demand, I would propose keeping the files size in check and aim for a reasonable size, such as around 300 Kb.

For example, Weapon_1124_t2.jpg is 2039 Kb big while Weapon_1124.jpg is 159 Kb big. While the picture is actually the same.

With that in mind, here are a few files with a reduced size.

Hello there!

I just bought CMO a couple of days ago, and having a blast so far!

I'm trying to catch up with all the developments happened since the release, and stumbled in this thread. So I started downloading the files, and managed to incorporate them in the game. No issues, everything about the installation is quite clear; I have some questions on how things are managed behind the curtains though, especially about the automatic download. I hope you don't mind if I ask a few questions.

- Does the automatic download work for both images and descriptions?
- Once the image (or description) is auto downloaded, it will never be downloaded again unless I manually delete it? So, in case it's updated on the remote side, I won't see any update until I clear the folder?
- I tried to compare some descriptions between the zip file and the original one, and it looked like the ones in the zip are way shorter than the originals. Is this intended?

Probably a few more questions will pop in my mind the more I look into this. Maybe an FAQ section in the first post or the download area would be beneficial? Or maybe it's just me who couldn't understand how all of this actually works?

The image for this aircraft is not correct. This image is an F-16 Block 50 from Misawa AB.

Claude - most of the replacement suggestions will show up in the next update (which is STILL in progress).

As for the replacement suggestions you guys would choose not to go with, I would be grateful to know the reasoning behind it, for my own edification and thus subsequently post more efficient suggestions.

Re the file size, if you guys thinks it's worth it, I can work on all images with a file size above 399 KB. I reckon it would drastically reduce the pack's size.

Is there a project to migrate this thread to Github too, by the way ?

Russian KINZHAL hypersonic missile system

The hypersonic missiles of the system are capable of engaging both stationary objects and surface ships: aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers and frigates. The KINJAL is an airborne variant of the Iskander missile system. The KINJAL missile, after dropping at a predetermined point, flies at hypersonic speed, exceeding the speed of sound tenfold, and maneuvers throughout its flight trajectory. This combination of characteristics allows the KINJAL missile to be guaranteed to overcome all existing air and missile defense systems. After successful tests on December 1, 2017, the KINJAL ARK began pilot combat duty at airfields of the Southern Military District.
