really a central question of the game World in Flames - how do the Allies respond to a 1941 Barbarossa?

Go after the Italians in the Med. Start by making sure the Western Med becomes a dangerous place for Italian ships to sail into (FTR 3 and NAV in Gib, together with a nice fleet) and invade Sardinia. Or start building up in Egypt and try if you can throw the Italians out of Lybia.
Together with the bi monthly strategic air raid on Lille, such a strategy should at least make sure that a lot of airplanes are in France and in the Med.

You don't need very strong land units to fight the Italians in the Med. Just air and sea power is enough. And the CW shouldn't be afraid of losing BB's. If the Italians use the same number, the CW is winning the war in the Med...

You don't need to be succesfull, just make sure you make life interesting for the Italians...

Well I've just googled it and to be fair, I was barely school age when the series finished. I do not recall Hogan's Heroes being on TV when I was a kid - although may be wrong. Sorry [;)].

The CW, having chosen a combined, put a couple of units to sea in the Gulf of Guinea.

They then try and extract the remnants of the Mediterranean Fleet from Alexandria. Orm is not around to ask but I see no reason why he would not seek to intercept. However the throw is a 7 - higher than the 4 required - and the RN force head through the Suez Canal into the Red Sea.

The USN put three cruisers into the North Atlantic.

I base the Italians next decision on what Orm did in the first impulse. Therefore the Italian submarines do not seek to initiate combat in the Bay of Biscay due to the strength of the escorts in that zone.

The Soviets rail a factory from Dnepropetrovsk to Ufa (at a cost of two rail points). Never done this before so I will need to check production over the coming turns to see if it works. The Factory should be available for use in two turns.

The Indians rail a Militia to Calcutta.

The Soviets also try and retreat where they can - which is not very far, with not very much. Yeremenko reorganises a couple of units.



Its pretty binary; if the weather holds then the Soviets are finished. Their only hope is a short turn/rubbish weather combo.

...and a throw of 5 does not help. Fine everywhere except North Monsoon.

Axis go all land.

No Port Strikes. No naval air. No strategic bombing.

Japan ground strike Vladivostok and Chengtu. Germany ground strike Vilna and Kiev and bombard Minsk.

The ground strike on Vilna did not go as well as I had hoped.
