I did the conversions to those 3 subs so they are ready to go. Both before and after conversions they ferried Supply to Horn Island and later Darwin. Three Raider Bns will be on Roi-Namur, so the SST's will be perfect for taking them to seize unoccupied bases.

Joe's idea for the paras can be used for either empty or occupied bases, provided they aren't much occupied (as the para forces available are small).

Shoeless Joe would be fine if he were trying to take one base at a time. Shoeless Joe for a paratrooper attack on a marginally defended base would be fine since it would be trying to steal that base against a distracted player. A threadbare blanket or cloth would try to cover everything but might not be able to.

But I do have a tenuous connection with Shoeless Joe due to Doc Graham. [;)]

If you can, try to buy out those VLG-III Sup Afd units, or at least one of the smaller ones that combine into larger ones and get them out of the DEI. Having more air support units, even the small ones, to spread around can be quite useful and they should not cost too much.

I did last game but not this game. I might buy back the destroyed units if I can be certain of where they will come back (don't want them stuck in queue waiting for the liberation of Java).

If I remember correctly, the units bought back will come in at Aden along with any other Dutch reinforcements.

If they have taken damage, they might be cheap enough to buy out now and get just part of them to Australia where they can rebuild and be used to host training/rear echelon squadrons at already built up bases.

Dutch units will arrive in Aden. But screen them before buying out, since replacements only exist for generic squads like (air)support or engineers. Many of the airbases have tiny TOEs and are hardly worth reviving, infantry is not worth it at all IMHO.

• I am looking for preparation targets for the USA 160 Inf Rgt, 185 Inf Rgt, and 41 Inf Div. The two Rgts are part of the 40th Inf Div, the other Rgt of which will invade Roi-Namur with other units. I have enough PP to buy out one Inf Rgt now but will have to accumulate PP for the other one and the division; I could also wait and buy the division first. I'm thinking over Nauru or Ponape for the division, although Ponape might require more than a single division, and Marcus for the two regiments. In 4 days the USMC 22 Rgt arrives, and in 14 days the USMC 3 Div. After then no significant US infantry for a couple of months.

• Lexington's TB group upgraded to Avenger's. We should have time to upgrade Yorktown's group but Hornet and Wasp might have to sail with Devastator's.

On ground attack they shot down an interceptor!

They were probably being chased down low, dropped their bombs just anywhere and the resulting blast destroyed the enemy plane. The rest got scared by this new weapon and left. Or else the LCUs AA fire actually got the fighter since friendly fire is always more accurate than enemy fire. Since the game can't model these, it showed what it could.

In a turn last night in my game, 13 Devastators got 13 bomb hits dropping from 1000 feet, 30 squads destroyed on that xAK so they can do good work, they just don't have the range.
