KG Notes -- Evaluating the Dodgers: The position players are solid. The off-season focus will be on improving the pitching. I really have just two young reliable starters -- Higbe and Trout. Niggeling is having a good season, but is 38 years old. Heintzelman has been a disappointment. The bullpen is equally shaky, with two dependable relievers --Wittig and Casey. Beyond that, we have 40-year-old Fitzsimmons.

New York, Friday August 29. Back to the Polo Grounds for a weekend series. Niggeling vs Hubbell. 84 degrees, with the wind blowing OUT to LF@20mph. Look for some fireworks today.

Williams hits an RBI single in the top of the 1st. The Giants come back and take a 2-1 lead in the 3rd.

Casey relieves Niggeling in the 7th.

Rather than a slugfest, it turns into a pitching duel. Hubbell gets the CG win. Niggeling loses.

Saturday, August 30. A doubleheader.

Game 1. 86 degrees, wind blowing OUT to CF@10mph. Heintzelman vs Bill McGee.

Heintzelman gets into trouble in the bottom of the 1st, loading up the bases and giving up 3 runs.

Wittig relieves Heintzelman in the 7th. Sid Gordon adds an RBI single in the 8th. 4-0, Giants.

McGee pitches a CG shutout. Heintzelman loses.

Game 2. McGee pitches again? This can't be right.
