[:D]the sad part is that she was in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by destroyers and STILL got found and torpedoed[8|]. This is a bad omen for my luck so far

I hope you can work some magic and get Saratoga back to a base. This is a non-respawn mod, so if Sara sinks she's gone for good. [:(]

So much for Hong Kong. Malaya and PI are still holding on.

OK. Thought I'd dust the cobwebs off the AAR and post a synopsis of where we stand.

Ken has been using Tosa and Kaga in the DEI for bombardment. So far he's taken Brunei, Kuching, Tarakan, Balikpapan, most of Malaya and most of Luzon except for Manila of course and there is a small stalemate at Clark Field for now. That will probably end soon. Hong Kong is the big deal right now. I was hoping it would hang out a little longer while I counterattacked Canton with some Chinese Corps. Not to happen it would seem.

I upgraded an Australian squadron to Typhoon IAs and another one to Short Sterlings. I tried a combined bombing mission with 4Es against Bangkok last turn to shoot up some of the Zero production there but the Sterlings failed to find their target and all that hit was about 7 B-17Ds. I don't think they did much damage.

I also upgraded both of my RIAF squadrons to Hurricanes. I hope AE does away with the limitation on Dutch and RAF groups not being able to upgrade until May or July. It doesn't seem right that I can upgrade the RIAF to Hurricanes and still leave British squadrons fighting with Buffalos.

We'll still have to watch the political points. I've reduced the amount in the latest version of the scenario but it's still early in the game so we'll need to see how that develops.

Have you given any Allied planes improved bomb loads??  I briefly played RHS before too many bugs ended the game (against John 3rd) and liked the idea of a few B-17E/F squadrons coming equiped with 1000lb APs and a few B-25 Mitchells coming with torpedoes??

My very first PBEM was using Iron Storm against 1EyedJack, but it ended due to my computer repeatedly crashing. So, I'm looking forward to giving this one a try after AE comes out. [:D]

Doh!! You just reminded me of something and I just confirmed why my Short Sterlings aren't bombing anything. I forgot to equip them with bombs!! [:o]

Fortunately all the other new planes have bomb loads.

In answer to your question, though, all the new planes have their traditional bombloads and I didn't equip any of the existing planes with improved bomb loads. Basically this is CHS plus some historical additions plus a few added "what ifs".

The CW has a few "what if" planes added in their historical configurations, Typhoon MK IAs and IBs, Halifax Mk IIs and IIIs, and Short Sterlings. The "what if" designs for the CW are basically historically produced planes that find their way into the Pacific theatre where they were traditionally lacking.

When AE comes out I may not update this mod but will probably spend most of my time on a radical departure involving Alt_Naval's IJN fleet. It will be similar to Iron Storm with a few exceptions. Iron Storm also bases its Japanese fleet on the Alt_Naval model but adds a number of "what if" BBs and BCs to the Allied OOB which I won't be adding.

Not sure what to make of this or why its happening. For some reason this seems to be happening every turn so far. Maybe something to do with hard code on a particular tile or something? [&:]

I'm sure Gary, but the 8th Chinese Guer. Corps should have been eliminated and will be returning in about 20 days or so. For some reason the Ki/15/C5M Babs are flying to 0,0. Other than that, I have no idea - but it is a problem with the game file I believe. More coruption.

[:D] It is fun to be the Japanese in the early going - and luckily this game is only going to last a few months. [8D]

OK. Here's the situation as of January 3, 1942.

Note DEI is falling quick. Nomad has been working overtime on the SRA.

Eastern Pacific has been conspicuously quiet. Not sure what Darren is brewing up but his sector has been fairly quiet.

No sign of KB.

Rabaul and Northern New Guinea are occupied.

Wake Island is still in Allied hands.

Rangoon is still in Allied hands although I suspect his troops are advancing along the trail from Rahaeng to Moulmein. Probably some Royal Thai Army there. Nomad's already taken Moulmein with Paras.

Paras have also been very active in Sumatra taking almost the everything north of Palembang.

Just in from my "in" box. Japanese still pounding away at Manila. Hong Kong fell a couple weeks ago so Manila and Singapore are the major Allied strongholds now.

EDIT: Note that because of the way my mod is structured, we're seeing units from the Japanese which normally don't participate in PI. Planning points and HQs have been altered so that you may see anything come down the pike.

Time for a party in Singapore. I brought lots of Engineers to break down the forts, lots of Artillary to soften things up a bit and Grunts and Armour to destroy your puny army. [:)]

Looks like they stopped at maximum distance to get ready for the run.
