Timor invaded
E Wanamaker was scanning the sky below, he was weary as were the rest of his Fokker T.IV Torpedo bomber crews, but the needs of the many outweighed the needs of the few. 6 days ago his crews were at Palembang bombing a convoy brought into Singapore, 2 days later they were getting bombed, so they were order south. Then Timor began to get hit, so just two days ago they landed at Timor, and on the same day troopships were spotted inbound. Even though Kavieng was being bombed daily. His unit was ordered to fly there as it was the only airfield capable of loading torpedoes. Their orders arm and defend the island.
That they have done that and well, suddenly he spots the troop ships again and orders his planes to begin their approach

In Manila General Ybut peeks thru the buildings into the Jungle, they have been underseige for the last 2 months but still they hold. The Japanese had stopped bombing for a couple of weeks but the last week they have intensified all attacks with a determination to put an end to this duel. He mutters to himself how the brave McArthur was nowhere to be found, seems to have flown the coup literally!
But it was not his job to question just to defend. The Japanese had attacked just a few days ago with bitter losses but he sensed they were soon to come again. Suddenly all along the Jungle he hears Banzai! Banzai! as the Japanese troops rush forward again. Bullets rip from the Phillipine and allied positions and once again after several hours of fighting they hold!

POW sunk, next invasion spotted
The Glorious POW is no more, it wasn't the CV planes that put 2 bombs and 1 torpedo, but the 58 nells with 23 Sally's flying in from Singapore that finished off the main force in the area. The CA Exeter and CL Marblehead were also targeted but avoided all torpedo's.
Scott has landed 2 armored units at Palembang, though he has taken numerous mine hits on his transports. His first attack on March 7th was unsuccessful.

The major news 10 hudson flew out of Suva and bombed a 9 ship transport group 60 miles west of Nandi, not sure how that snuck up so quick!

Battle for Fiji
The battle for Fiji began softly enough 3 days ago on March 7th with 10 Hudsons spotting and launching a strike vs 10 transports, 1 AV and 1DD one transport was hit, but this force was spotted a scant 60 miles from Fiji! there was no air cover over this group.
That did not last long for on the 8th Scott found out that not just 10 Hudsons were on Fiji, but 24 F4F Wildcats and over 60 bombers from B-17's, Hudsons, B-26 Maruaders and A-20B Bostons, what I figured would be a field day on unsupported transports turned into 3 days of bloody airbattles.
It turns out the KB was escorting and has thrown up its CAP, but it cannot be everywhere.
My bombers are taking hits, but so are his transports, he has lost 1 DD and the AV should go down. He has landed the 65th Nav Gd, Yoko 8th SNLF and 10th Special base force on Suva. There is another transport fleet of 10 ships inbound and further NW it looks like 5 Tankers.
The KB has not been attacked but I do run into its cap, my bombers prefering the soft transports, I hope I get lucky and get a shot on the CV's.
I have the advantage on land but must await the next fleet to see what it has.

The bunker door closed with a hiss. The pneumatic doors were keeping the bitter cold in and out, depending on who you ask. He moved through the darkness down the familiar corridor. He then moved to the switch to turn on the lights and find his socket, in which he inserted his key. Leaving his garments just inside the door, the silent figure moved still farther down the hallway to the planning room. He stopped just short of opening the door. "Would they accept my revised operation." he thought. The figure moved through the door and addressed his entourage. "Gentleman, I bring good news."

Pearl Harbor revenged
The ships pushed on thru the night, the waves phosperescant in the moonlight as they pressed forward.
There had been an earie quiet aboard all the vessels the last 5 days. If even a clang was heard everyone around would chastise the offender. It was one thing to be operating within ones own aircover. Its another to be 5 days deep into enemy airspace!
Captain Glass stepped up to the podium to address his aircrews.
"Gentleman, I know you have been on high alert for the last 5 days since we entered enemy waters, and tension is high. But zero hour is here and rest assured we will revenge the strikes on Pearl Harbor!"
The pilots let out a loud cheer.
"Just an 30 minutes ago our search planes took off to scan the nearby oceans, we don't know what to expect but one things for sure, if they don't find anything we still have the mother of targets! TRUK HARBOR! This is Japans main base and there is sure to be shipping there"
"Be on full alert as I am sure they will be searching for us to counterstrike, The Saratoga group seperated from us during the night, but they have the same orders."
"Ok men ready up!"
An hour later on the remote island of Buka a coastwatcher listens to the crackle of the radio.
static.. hiss enemy ships below, seperate and bomb convoy...... a hit I got a hit...... me to... press on ...no resistance... static hiss
later he picks up more sounds
crackel... static there's the harbor below, my god theres a carrier in port, and cruisers, everyone attack.... hiss ... static...incoming zeros....static we hit the carrier.... i'm hit going down..... hiss
hiss... static ... 6 o'clock below, zeros, vals, Kates incoming on the Yorktown, dive and tear em up... static... hiss... one zero down....Jack's hit....static hiss
He could pick up no more, but the day was definatly a busy one.

The war has been building to a crisis point for the allied command, they had been giving ground reluctantly but so far had not made the master stroke wakeup call to Scotts war council that this would be no easy war. In the last week the rising sun began to rise faster.
In Java area Palembang was invaded, temporarily held but more troops were brought in and forts have been reduced from 5 to zero, it will soon fall. The pride of the British the Prince of Wales, surrendered to the sea's with 6 torpedos in her sides delivered 58 Nells and Carrier planes. Timor had been invaded and captured and the Boise torpedoed. Manila is being ground down daily. Singapore is used by the Japanese and is sending fleets north thru the Malacca channel, it is dark.
In the South Pacific, the only light of hope was the sinking of the CVL Ryujo although the cost was the CV Enterprise badly damaged with two torpedoes, but the skys became darker as Fiji was invaded, with the KB providing protection, the initial troops of 65th GD and Yoko 8th SNLF with base force were not enough so Scott unloaded 5 other units meant for elsewhere. We did not intend to give up lightly and probably as a surprise to Scott had over 60 bombers and 20 fighters of various sorts attacking daily, slowly weary down the CAP. In the Taskforce's were tankers, AE's, AK and an AV it appeared Suva was the intial landing and he meant to stay and raid the shipping lanes. There was no doubt to the outcome with the KB in company...... That was till this morning
2 Carriers had spend the last 5 days creeping towards Truk from the north, each day search planes went out looking for targets as they were in the heart of the shipping lanes. Being thru some miracle they arrived undetected just short of Truk, and made there move to attack all Naval shpping first then Truk second. This had to be a major hub what we expected to find we didn't know. What we found surprised and shocked us.
Below is the report, spotted 60 miles away a troop convoy carrying a Base Force was the 1st Target, Truk Harbor was the PM target and surprise of surprises a Carrier was docked. The carrier launched a return strike but it was reduced due to port restrictions.
I will let the report explain.

It was a great day with 4 1000 lbs and 4 500 lb bombs in her, if the CV Junyo doesn't sink she will at least be out for 8 months, Not sure how much damage she has but has to be over 80 sys, the only way she can survive is if Truk saves her like Pearl saved the battleships. The shocking thing is Junyou normally would not be available for another 50 days we have the plus or minus 90 days arrival on, so she not only arrived but since at Truk arrived a while ago. I had no idea and am fortunate, if she had encountered us at sea she is stronger then Ryujo and could have sank one of my carriers as it is she will be out for a long time.
At Suva I also launched vs the transports and KB protected again but gets weary

Below is the scene on the morning of March 14th, the Yorktown is the CV closest to Truk and Saratoga is NE.
As the planes begin landing on the Yorktown, the captain turns towards the helmsman and says "When the last plane lands turn north and proceed at full speed, this island may have been caught flatfooted but in the morning I guarantee every Jap plane in the area will be launching from here."

It was a great day with 4 1000 lbs and 4 500 lb bombs in her, if the CV Junyo doesn't sink she will at least be out for 8 months, Not sure how much damage she has but has to be over 80 sys, the only way she can survive is if Truk saves her like Pearl saved the battleships. The shocking thing is Junyou normally would not be available for another 50 days we have the plus or minus 90 days arrival on, so she not only arrived but since at Truk arrived a while ago. I had no idea and am fortunate, if she had encountered us at sea she is stronger then Ryujo and could have sank one of my carriers as it is she will be out for a long time.
At Suva I also launched vs the transports and KB protected again but gets weary

Below is the scene on the morning of March 14th, the Yorktown is the CV closest to Truk and Saratoga is NE.
As the planes begin landing on the Yorktown, the captain turns towards the helmsman and says "When the last plane lands turn north and proceed at full speed, this island may have been caught flatfooted but in the morning I guarantee every Jap plane in the area will be launching from here."

Will the real Nisshin Maru #2 stand up
March 15th and 16th brought more destruction to the Japanese forces.
At Suva the KB withdrew NW where their tankers that approached Suva and withdrew also headed, probably Luganville to refuel, which direction is next unsure as you will see Scott has choices, Suva, My CV’s in his shipping lanes, Baker and my BB's or someplace else? He has unloaded all his current forces at Suva and the troops are close to even although he is reducing Nandi.
As the KB withdrew the CA Pensacola and a DD showed up at Suva, terrorized the transports, and also hit some damaged transports withdrawing and the bombers wrecked more havoc on the helpless transports around Fiji

The strange event was the TK Nisshin Maru #2 was sunk twice, ie there are two identical ships, the first sunk by the CA Pensacola off Suva on March 15th and the second was sunk by CV’s Yorktown and Saratoga south of Marcus on March 16th : The names are identical one has 10k capacity approx, the other 16K capacity.

History Fact
The Junyô (Japanese: meaning "peregrine falcon") was a Hiyô-class aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was laid down at Nagasaki as the passenger liner Kashiwara Maru but purchased by the Japanese Navy in 1940 and converted to an aircraft carrier.
On 9 December 1944, Junyô was carrying 200 survivors of Musashi and was accompanied by the battleship Haruna and the destroyers Suzutsuki, Fuyutsuki, and Maki. The task force was attacked at midnight by the American submarines Sea Devil, Plaice and Redfish. Junyô was hit by three torpedoes, killing 19 men. Several compartments were flooded, giving her a 10°–12° list to starboard, but she was able to make way on one engine. Maki was also damaged by a torpedo. By 04:00 the Japanese task force entered shallow waters where the American submarines could not follow.
Junyô was drydocked at Kure, but repairs were abandoned in March 1945. The lack of materials, fuel and carrier planes meant that there was no need for fleet carriers. Junyô remained moored at Sasebo until the end of the war. She was scrapped in 1947.

KB hit
Well it was a another furious day over Fiji, as Scott mentioned the KB came back and sank 14 transports unloading the American division at Suva, Most of the troops offloaded. He has also brought in more troops and is unloading at Nandi, he actually moved into the hex with the KB and my bombers flew into the teeth of the storm.
One hit on Zuikaku, as my crews gain experiance hopefully they hit the soft Soryu or Hiryu!!!
Here is the bloody aircombat, I am losing planes at a much faster rate but attritioning the KB, 8 zeros fall today.

Poor stldiver, faced with such odd agents he may choose to take his cyanide pill rather than continue. Still the IJN Carrier losses are significant. Scott must be use every bit of his skill. Remember to bring forward the supplies you need to support further ops[:)]
