Japs take Manila

Post by RUPD3658 »

Manila finally fell. 81K POWs were taken.

In China a counter attack near Sian sent the flanking Jap units back across the river.

In the DEI Kai island was recaptured and a NLF unit was destroyed in the process. More nipping at the flanks.

RE: Japs take Manila

Post by RUPD3658 »

Big red x at Pagan was too tempting a target to ignore. Close to 70 Zeros were destroyed. The downside is that the morale of my bombers in now so low I doubt they will fly against naval targets.

My Wake invasion fleet got spotted by bombers and Zeros from Wake. Hopefully the KB is all in the DEI or there will be trouble. I figured that a quick recapture of Wake was a good idea while the KB was otherwise occupied. It would be much harder to take it back later.

Post by RUPD3658 »

Wake was recaptured. The Jap AC escaped but intel tells me I destroyed a NLF and a base force. Now I need to get away before the KB shows up.

RE: Allies recapture Wake Island

Post by Alfred »

Good local counterattacks at Kai and Wake but the reported enemy forces were small suggesting that maybe you did not destroy the entire unit but only a part and the remnant will rebuild elsewhere.

As you opponent seems to be determined to quickly capture Java and Luzon, you may have an opportunity to leave substantial remnants at Wake (so that the parent unit can rebuild elsewhere in the event of a succesful enemy counterattack), thus intercepting the SLOC with LBA.

RE: Allies recapture Wake Island

Post by RUPD3658 »

On a happier note the two AS from Manila arrived safely at Midway. Looks like both will make it. Not too bad for having left Manilla with 90 sys damage. They also revealed a huge gap in the Jap air search umbrella. I will have to exploit this later.

1st assault on PM is repelled! Hopefully they can hold out.

Clear weather in India means the heavies can fly. They closed Andaman Is. but with even losses due to Ops losses. They will fly again tomorrow.

Japs take PM

Post by RUPD3658 »

PM fell to a shock attack. I had hoped it would hold out longer. The KB has now disaapeared south of Gili Gili. Either it went back to Rabaul or it is headed for Neouma or Brisbane. Just to be safe all shipping in the area has been rerouted.

All of my subs are being pulled back to port for repairs and new captains. Most all evacuations are done so I need to start using them as offensive weapons as much as possible. If their torps don't work it will have to be mines but they have to do something.

Bombers which had quietly snuck into Chungking raided Homan. Between this rain and the one on Rangoon nearly 50 Jap planes were destroyed at the loss of only 5 of mine. They will now have to sneak out since I have a feeling that Chungking will now be targeted.

Japs took Thursday Island
