Most of the German JG and KG have named pilots in the database to fill up the ranks if losses or reinforcements are taken (this will not affect your pool). But Aufkl. and specially the Ju52 Transport Gruppen don´t have them, so if you get them up-to-strength you will mostly deplete your pool as these units have plenty of replacement aircraft in the pool and are badly understength on June 22nd. I´m considering to add another 100 pilots to German pool to compensate for this in the next patch.

There are no HMG or any MG squads represented in the Mod as there weren´t enough spaces open in the device list for the Axis units.

There actually were that many Aufklaerung units to start the war with, but by middle 42 most of them had been disbanded due to losses and the need to "recon-by-force" (with fighters) as Soviet Airforce was gerring stronger by the day.
You can disband some early so they provide replacement planes/pilots to other units and rebuild them 90 days later.
Anyway, given the replacement rates of recon aircraft sooner or later the strength of the Aufkl. units will wither away.

What makes me wonder, though, I know that the game engine will try to rebuild the disbanded air groups 90 days later (if I say I want them to be rebuilt). What if there are no planes left of the kind that the airgroup used, but there are similar ones available? What if there are some available, but not enough to fill the group completely? I've never had to deal with this before...

Well, I am using most of mine for naval search - too many of them only have range of 5, and that doesn't help me much...

Speaking of range, I am truly hurting for long-range fighters... The game should have had many more smaller towns - that could have had airfields...

Do I go for agility and give up Rumanian IAR strain? Or do I go for firepower, and stay with IARs? And what of B239A, the best range, yet no armor?

And is it worth it to give up any production to give minor countries' land bombers a chance?

- Soviet airforce has taken off from Riga and I don't have the recon for its new location. I don't want to waste a day of LBs pounding scraps.

Con:

- Nighttime penalties
- Only FAF (Finnish Air Force) can provide escorts, and they will not be strong enough against Soviet planes, hence the necessity to attack at night
- Strong flak in Leningrad (144)
- Some units won't be able to join in (only 2 of 3 FAF LB units have high enough morale, and only 1 of 5 FAF F carries bombs and has long enough range)

Of course, now I am curious how come only 1 (one) plane has been destroyed by flak despite the fact that Konigsberg has 599 flak...

Due to the huge amount of AA Guns that were present in the Mod´s LCU, the low altitudes at which aircraft operated on the EF and to prevent a slaughter, we downtuned their accuracy/effect in relation to stock WitP. Now it seems (Dali has told me this, too - he´s playing 4 games simultaneously) that in the next patch we will go back to stock values.

We also increased durability of aircraft and reduced aircraft gun accuracy to reduce air-to-air bloodiness, more a/c are getting through to bomb, bombs have higher effect in the Mod and Flak is lame (even worse because higher DUR)... everything is connected!!! Working on it.

Speaking of range, I am truly hurting for long-range fighters... The game should have had many more smaller towns - that could have had airfields...

Version 1.2 already has 30 more towns in it than the previous version we started with. With 30 mile hexes, mostly all hexes could have a town/airbase in it, but that would really clutter the map and take some of the "you desperately need to capture Riga" atmosphere away! Unfortunately there has to be a location for an airbase to exist, unlike the original WIR, where air units could be based anywhere on moving HQs.

The night raid did not go as planned.

2 ports have been chosen, Leningrad and Sevastopol, and almost 15 squadrons were lined up for that, all with sufficient planes and morale.

Only 2 seem to have made it through.

Sinking a Soviet sub with a single bomb hit was a nice consolation prize.
