On the subject of Dutchmen, will Oranje be included? I always thought Nieuw Amsterdam a particularly attractive liner, but so far as I can tell she only made it as far as Aden after the outbreak of the Pacific war, so I suppose there's no pretext for including her. Pity.
A terrific pity, and one that I am personally loath to accommodate. But … there were so many ships that came in theater for a week or so and then left, that we (the editor) just can’t handle all the ins-and-outs necessary for a release version of the game.

Fyi, we are building some after market scenarios and they may include some pretty ships. I really like drawing ships and got some beauties in the box; maybe AE won’t totally float your boat, but there’s an after market mod in the works that will knock yo socks off.

Oranje, Nieu Amsterdam, and several others. There’s a really big pot boiling off line. Would like your input if you want to play. Pm me or TomLabel, or Don Bowen.

Ciao. John

Alright, we'll need the Normandie too.

Preferably, before the fire.[;)]

After the fire it would be easier to draw...Red rounded hull facing up, tied to a dock.

Local Yokel made a request for Kongo Maru and Asama Maru stuff, so here they are. We may do a slightly different model for the Chichibu/Kamakura Maru as well. jpg messes up the colors. They'll look better in the game.

Well Mr. Local Yokel was pretty persuasive, so Chichibu/Kamakura Maru now has its own graphic. Here it is - Chichibu on top, Asama underneath.

Oh yes, that is very tasty! [&o]  All she has to do now is stay out of Gudgeon's way.

Now, about those plans for conversion of the three big NYK liners to carriers...

Actually, part of my persuading was with reference to the fast ferries, Kongo Maru and Koan Maru (the 23kt ships). Looking at John's graphic, the lower image is, I think, of the fast ferry class. We already have them in CHS and they're ships for which I have a soft spot due to their speed.

Well, this one isn't a pasenger ship, but it's another of the rarely seen types. Nisshin/Tonan Maru class whale factory converted to TKs.

Monsters! 550', 22,000 Dwt, carried 15,350 metric tons of crude, along with 2170 metric tons of dry bulk. Woof !

Are ships such as this one going to be able to carry both wet and dry goods, or will it be as it was in WiTP? I ask because the original Pacific war allowed for 'mixed cargo'.

Oh yes. Don is the guy that beats us with those whips and chains. If we miss a beat in the OOB, it’s flogging round the fleet time. Woof !

Just so ya don’t think we’re fosused on the biggies, here’s a Kinesaki class supply ship; has maybe 400 tons capacity, pretty small (maybe 175’), rated AG; there were several of them.

Glad to see the whale factory ships will be in.  Did a bit of digging and found that the Tonan Maru's were derived from Furness Shipbuilding's design for the Norwegian Svend Foyn, whilst the Nisshin Maru's stemmed from a Furness design for the Sir James Clark Ross - that took me back to a picture of Sir JCR I saw in the Wonder Book of Ships about fifty years ago; wish I still had it now.  Presumably we also get the third design for the singleton Kyokuyo Maru?

And the artwork is a great improvement on the equivalent in CHS - thank you, John!

Thank you John.

Yep, Tonan #2 & #3, Nisshin and Nisshin #2, and Kyokuyo. [;)]
