ASW/Subs: S-36 is one of three Allied subs at Bali and she manges to hit an AK with one torpedo before the escorts with the transports get one direct hit on her. Then, the DDs from the BB TF get a second direct hit. Since she is only 4 hexes away from Soerabaja, she may survive. I-153 is patrolling the straits between Java and Sumatra and sinks a TK with two torpedeos.
Burma: At Rangoon, the rebuilt Flying Tigers are found to be only kittens. [:D] I have 41 A6M2 Zero (1) and 12 Ki-43-Ic Oscar (2) as escorts for 81 Ki-21 Sally, 33 Ki-48 Lily, and 9 Ki-49 Helen. The Allies send up the Flying Tigers, 22 Curtis H81-3A (19) and 7 Hurricane IIb (6) as CAP. I do a moderate amount of damage - airbase hits 10, airbase supply hits 2, and runway hits 27. My 48 Zeros have an average of 83 experience between the two daitai with 8 aces and 1 double ace. Two out of three Tank Rgt between Moulmein and Rahaeng are hit by 12 Blenheim IV and 12 Wellington III in two separate attacks (light casualties).
Malaya: At Singapore, 31 Ki-21 Sally (1) and then 33 Ki-21 Sally (0) go in without escort on ground attack mission. [:@] 5 Hurricane IIb were on CAP.

The troops to invade Buna and Lae have arrived at Truk and will move to Rabaul, but I will need to neutralize PM before they move in as KB is now west of Palau.

I get 79 casualties and 3 guns lost. The Shock Attack at Samarinda captures the base with the Allied troops surrendering (4065 casualties reported and Guns lost 35).

Notes/Plans: At Bali, I should have LRCAP the transports from the carriers and then used the Zeros at Makassar to LRCAP the carriers to decrease the distance and resulting fatigue. I'm still a novice at opposed invasions, but the best news was no damage to any major warships. [:)] I have moved in 2 daitai of Zeros and 2 chutai of Oscars as I expect at least another day of air attacks. I have learned that my transports need a BB TF and an ASW TF to keep the enemy at bay.
He has at least 8 subs in the waters from Bali, Balikpapan, to Kendari. I have two ASW TF leaving Kendari and a third from Balikpapan to "try" to get a few kills.
120 miles NE from Pontianak (Borneo), I have part of a Mixed Bde and a BB TF unseen. They should arrive tomorrow and he has 3 PT disbanded in port. Hopefully, I can sink the PTs in port.
My BB TF set to hit Manila is only 7 hexes away. There are 5 BB within the TF.
