Gamestop shipping Armada already!

Question:
- how are the turn change and the upload times? Are they tolerable so far?

turns are pretty snappy. I've run into 5 different empires at this point and the turn resolution does not take more than a few seconds. Save games take less than 20 seconds to load.

Thus far my impressions of the game are pretty positive. It's got a MOO 1 / Space Empires feel to it. feels more like a MOO 1.5 without ship design.

Gamestop's release of Armada 2526 has oozed west as far as Albuquerque, New Mexico. It might be in California by Tuesday.

I'm to the point where I hope Amazon and Digital Distribution just completely take over PC game selling.

They already took over the majority of PC sales long ago. That's why you don't see many PC games in stores these days - most everyone with a computer has internet and knows how to buy stuff. Purchase, download (and/or ship), and play without ever leaving the house.

I'm surprised GS even keeps a dark, rundown corner of some stores devoted to PC games. You can just order direct from their website and it'll arrive at your home the same day they come to the store. *shrug* no brainer.

Well, I doubt we will see a weekend release, that isn't Matrix's style. But maybe, with all this Gamestop oozing, we might get an early Monday release - by that time it will be in a large group of retail stores.
