Forgive me Igard, I have download all star trek mods in this forum, mix them together, change your mod a lot and add Ranger, Minuteman, Daedalus and several vulcan ships to my modified mod.
That's what's so great about Distant Worlds, you can make changes so easily. Have fun with it that's what it's all about.
I change a lot of races atributes too. But don't worry, I don't publish it anywhere.
Don't worry, Brainsucker. Go ahead and upload it. You can start a new thread or post it here if you like. Don't worry about using the images from my mod as long as you state that's where you got them. All my stuff is hosted at same site I got the images from so there should be no problems. Make sure you credit any of the other Star Trek modders, ConfilctX, drillerman etc.[:)]
err... nope. I won't upload it as I don't create it myself. Plus, Unlike the Star Trek mod in the forum, my modified Star Trek is not presentative nor balanced.
Ok, that's understandable if you don't feel as though it's ready. If you decide to work on it a bit more and feel it's to your liking, you know what to do.[;)]
ok i found out why i was getting wierd crashes, turns out if you manually add empires when creating a new game and then change to this mod, there are horrible repeated errors unless you remove all of the manually added races from the list, probably because it still had the orginial races and names in it
I get same problem with my mod, make sure you clear that list before switching to a mod with different races, or you will get 1 error per every DW race that has been replaced (in otherwords 20), it might be 2 errors per race even [:D]
But when you click through them all, it takes a while, game should run fine afterwards.

This problem occurs with every mod, it's just an annoying bug and shouldn't result in CTD. As WoodMan says you can delete each empire in the other empires screen, but it takes a while since the error keeps popping up. If there are 15 empires there will be 15 warnings until you delete one, then there will be 14 warnings etc.
I always select start a new game and go to the Other Empires screen and delete all the empires before quitting back to the main menu and changing the theme.

Just open \document and setting\a directory\application data\code force limited\distant worlds\1.0.6.0\
and delete defaultoptions file
Does that delete anything else? I don't want to keep changing the option settings too.
Fantastic work Igard! As a Noob to Distant Worlds, I think a set-up guide would be appreciated. Especially
since it would greatly extend playability. Anyway....just my two bars of gold-pressed latinum worth!
If by a set up guide, you mean what settings for each government etc. here's what I suggested earlier on page 2 with a few updated alterations:
At the galaxy screen;
Set the galaxy size to something pretty big, I always play on 1400.
Planet quality = normal, independant life = plentiful
Expansion = starting - This will ensure none of the independants are larger than they should be.
Aggression = restless/unstable - Hopefully this will make the less friendly races stop trading with you.
Research = very slow, space creatures = few, pirates = few
Your empire screen;
Home system = normal, size/tech level = This depends on which empire you choose
corruption = normal - unless you're ferengi, then crank it up a bit
Also, you should edit the race bias. This can only be changed via the in-game editor. The editor button is the one in the top right of the screen. Open the 'Edit Empires' button at the bottom of the game editor window. You should now have a list of the empires in the galaxy. If you click 'Edit Empire' you should see a slightly different list of empires at the right there should be a column called 'bias', change this accordingly (Klingons should hate Romulans, Romulans should hate Klingons, Bajorans hate Cardassians etc).
Excellent Igard! Thank you very much.... for the thousands of hours of lost sleep I'm about
to endure due to your dedicated work! [:D] Oh well....off to the dilithium mines!
Honestly though, great work!
Thanks again Igard! Check your email, I've uploaded you 2 winzip files. One contains my
entire png collection of race portraits (hope you can use them, some I feel are better suited
for your mod at present), the other has a few troop pics....some race specific. According
to what I read in the customization guide, the size doesn't matter for the troop photos.
But I've set all of them to 200 x 200 for convenience. Hope they can be used.
It's on hold for the moment since there is very little else to do until the expansion is released (another couple of months as we are led to believe).
For now, I'm working on an Archer era mod. After that, it'll be an early Kirk era mod. And so on.
Hopefully one day we'll have several Star Trek eras and we can put them all together and play through an ever evolving Star Trek universe, but that's just a fantasy for now.
After the death of Praetor Shizon, it seems that the Reman were permitted to leave Remus and settle there own colony. Some expanded universe literature has them colonising an uninhabited Klingon world under the protection of the Klingon defense force. Some sources say they settled on a Romulan world given to them by Emporess Donatra.
Either way, the Reman are a strong race, but you should never play them with anything but a starting size empire making them slightly vulnerable in the early stages of the game.
I read the modding possibilities got a boost with the expansion. In what ways will that affect your further improvements on these great mods? [:)]
It's looking much better for modding. We can now :-
Add up to 22 shipsets
Assign a special government to a race
Assign 2 tech focuses to each race
Set each race as a pirate or not
Set each race to expand normal or to be an 'isolationist'
Set a race as playable or not.
Increase the number of races as much as we like
There should be a patch soon with even more mod support. We should be able to set racial bias, so that the Klingons won't start off being friends with everyone. Plus some more that I can't remember right now.
Suffice to say it's going to be alot of work to update all this stuff, but it'll be worth it. [:)]
