Turn 30 - August 1935.  Shooting war starts with an Italian DOW vs France followed up with an offensive towards Marseilles.  Germany is quiet for now (either surprised by the Italian aggression or waiting to see how much of the French Army moves south).

Turn 30

Italian troops landed in the back of French colonial forces in Algeria. French units retreat in order to reinstall supply lines.

Britain sent a DOW to Italy. Italien transports on their way back to ports on Sicily were spotted and sunk by British navy.

Turn 31 sent.  Italy was able to capture a lightly defended Marseilles and all the area East and South of the Rhone river.  It is unclear if France will contest this area as it's main line of defense appears to be around Paris judging by the fortifications.  Some skirmishes in North Africa.

Turn 32 sent.  Italy made some attacks on the French line along the Rhone, but never seriously threatened a breakthrough.  A few units were spotted by Germany moving south.  Not sure if this is a counter offensive or just shoring up the line.

Turn 32, France and GB

After the Turkish surprise attack against French forces in Syria, French units launched a successful counterattack. Nearly a complete Turkish division was eliminated and the attackers forces to retreat.

Great Britian has sent a DoW to Turkey. First British landing on Turkish ground was successful. British navy started bombardment of Italien HQ in Africa.

Lyon under pressure and might fall next turn, as Italy attacks with overwhelming numbers of bombers and artillery.

Twenty years after Gallipoli, the British suffered another defeat in an amphibious disembark in the Turkish homeland, as one infantry division was destroyed to the last man by Turkish troops, after artillery bombardment and strafing by Turkish fighters. The Freach attempt to counterattack in the Syrian border was also stopped with heavy losses to the French.

Turn sent.  Italy is able to capture Lyon after combined air, artillery and ground assault.  Not sure if I will hold since there are strong French forces in reserve to the North.  Not much I can do in North Africa but hold as long as possible.

Turn 34 sent.  A lull in the fighting as I do not have the engineering required to bridge the Rhone.

The British are attempting a second landing in Turkey. Turkish artillery sunk a destroyers and damaged other destroyers and warships. The Sultan Suleiman, a 40000 ton Battlecruiser with 15in guns was completed and joined the Turkish fleet. We also started a production of an improved light tank, a license built version of the Soviet T-26.

Stalin will have to have a talk with his Tank designers about licensing out tank designs to foreign powers, and whats wrong with the FT-17 you used to build :P

Turn 35, Jan 1936 turn.

I had Germany declare war on SU, GB and France this turn.  Most of the operations are against Western Poland and I am successful in opening up the Danzig cooridor and hopefully securing East Prussia.  I also launch a few attacks against the French to secure the Western borders.  Made strategic strikes against Soviet production, advanced in Moldova and also attacked the British frontier in Greece.  I decided to attack a year before dip block was over with the idea of trading further preparations for surprise.  We will see if this works.

The Italian army bridged and then crossed the Rhone in force and captured Lyon and the strongly defended hex to the north  They will form the anchor in the Western defenses around Geneva.  In the Med, I sunk the cargo fleets in Algiers.

Turn played and sent...

Stalin is getting nervous... although no city was lost to the German/Slavic/Nordic Horde, several key cities where bombed beyond recognition. Soviet economic losses are very heavy... half of the Soviet Economy suffered. Heavy Bomber IVs are very impressive... both in range and in strength...

Looks like a short war.  Neither the West or the Soviets are not ready for my air force.  I was able to build up 100+ Heavy Bomber IV prior to last turn.  You need 30 to take out a capital, 15 for a large city, 7-8 for a city and 4-5 for a small city.  For the first turn of the conflict, I took out most of the large Soviet cities.  In the second turn, I took out most of the rest of Soviet production.  Only Kazan and Vologda was out of range of my bomber force.  I also have about 200 Fighter Bomber III and Ground Attack II.  These give me total control of the air on the front.  I was able to clear Western Poland and captured Warsaw this turn.  My army is not improved and not mobile, but it should be an easy stroll to Moscow over the next half dozen turns or so especially since I can continue to make fighter bombers.

In the West, my bombers wiped out the Maginot.  You need 5 HB IV per fortress.  Next turn, My bombers will take out all remaining French production and level the fortifications around Paris.  With my air superiority, Paris should not be too difficult.

The bomber always gets through?;)

Why did noone have air defenses behind the frontline?

Could 2-3 Fighter have done the trick or is fighter range too big as well?
