And Casualties Turn 24

Not nearly good enough. This will be a bad one. I am already taking 45,000 attrition losses per turn (last 3 turns) and there is not a Russian next to me. I think my guys are already shooting themselves. And my vehicle losses are atrocious for not even moving anyone.
155 tanks lost with everyone digging in and not moving.

One thing I noticed is there are no back up fortifications behind your first line. Basically he breaks that line, you have nothing to fall back on unfortunately.

Yep, I know, toyed with building a ton of forts about 5 turns back, but never did it. Sort of afraid to take the massive manpower hit for attrition. I am going to rail any incoming troops to cities behind the lines to really start digging in. I am dreading this.[X(]

Oh, The north will be hit first because the buffer is alot closer, 1 hex average. The Central and south have bigger buffers.

To answer an earlier question, I would split the Mtn Divisions. As a Division, they are way too much for the Soviets...but they only cover 2 hexes. Split them into 6 units.

Before you do that, though, give them each 3 Stug Units. Those are now "Mountain StuGs", and will also have the Mtn Troop defense bonus. Each Regt will get one. Every little bit helps......

Hmmm, may have to do that during the Blizzard. Not sure you can spot them but they kind of anchor my line some what. I will have to think that over. Should have done it last turn to bolster the Allies.

one thing to do is to make him advance beyond his supply if you do fall back, he should run out of steam quickly without rails to supply him.

I got your meaning Klydon.

Well, I have a cushion in the south and Central that have damaged rails he has to cross. In the north, he will be right on top of them. Going by email today, he is worried he won't have the strength. LOL

If you are German and you don't inflict 4-5 million casualties, you are in for a very bad time. Like me. LOL

BLIZZARD IS HERE

Post by 2ndACR »

As the header says, the Blizzard is upon me. Turn 26.

Now all I have to do is hold my line as best I can. I am already thinking about pulling the units that are not in towns back to towns once they get popped a few times. They disable troops have really jumped there. Will wait and see.

Turn 27

2nd turn of the blizzard and he still has not even advanced to my defense line. I cannot even tell if he has advanced at all.

Already seeing the heavy effects of blizzard on any unit out of town/cities. Some divisions are at 50% strength with disabled troops. Morale is still high. Towns and Cities are going to be the key to survive the Blizzard.

My Panzer Div which are all snug in the major cities (even on the front line) are doing great. The few in the smaller towns are taking some hits, but not bad. Level 4 forts in all major cities, all towns at level 3 and rising. Outside the towns are level 2-4. Varies greatly. Double stacks are at level 3-4 and singles are on the lower end. My northern coastal defense is level 4 and every hex is 40% roughly to level 5. This may allow me to redirect 3 Div of troops as a reserve. Waiting to see.

Casualties from attrition only today.

Turn 28

Still Blizzard and he still has not even advanced to my defense line. All my buffer zone is still intact across the board. I don't get it. Unless he is waiting for the blizzard to reach it's peak and destroy my army for him.

Here is casualty report for turn. Not a shot fired in over a month.

Turn 29

And another boring turn. He did advance a few hexes though. Still no Russian units in contact with my defense line.

I am beginning to think he is giving the blizzard time to really take it's toll and avoid the heavy losses he would take against my line on 2-3rd blizzard day. So far I have identified 3 soon weak spots that I will have to decide what to do. Luckily each is between towns, so If I pull them back it will not hurt too bad.

Casualty, partisan unit got popped today. Only shot fired.

Blizzard penalties drop in Jan and Feb.

He's not going to crank out a lot of guards or improve his leadership with this kind of hesitant advance.

He should have hit you hard, fast & as often as possible. Regardless of the state of your forces (and you'll get the disabled troops back - whereas whatever he could kill or force to surrender, you wouldn't), he's giving your valuable time - every turn you don't get hammered, is one less turn you'll need to recover.

Turn 30

Nothing, he has a slow advance going, moved 1 hex closer to my lines. Blizzard will be over at this rate. Going to hurt him when he hits my line. Lots of level 4 (almost to 5) and the rest level 3 and climbing.

Casualties

Turn 31 15 Jan 42

Blizzard is very boring in this game. Still have not seen a single Russian attack.

Casualties so far. The upgrade exp hit is destroying my army more surely than this blizzard. I am seeing a slew of devices at 40 exp all over my div that were exp 75+ pre upgrade.
