Hmmm, I think that DAK is a relative new comer or one that has too much AI experience IMO.  His multiple attacks at dislodging your armor units without bringing in a big enough hammer shows that he hasn't played a whole lot.  And then to do it again the next turn blows my mind, what a waste of MP's for nothing but dead soldiers and vehicles.  In addition he spaced out moving the Fins [:-].

I love your retreat of 16th Pzr, a 1000 vehicles dead...WOOT!  To bad most of them are yours [:@] [:'(]

It is certainly looking as if he may not be that seasoned. He does seem to know mechanics but his excecution is wanting.

If things get out of hand I miss most likely end the AAR but he still has some options left we will see.

South 5 final strategic view - Self explaining. It will be turn 8 or more before he gets over the river. Cities are garrisoned and reserve armies are forming. The mountain army near Kiev is being pulled out next turn and sent north.

It's times like these when I think first time German PBMers could use a coach. Or advertise for a short game of say a dozen turns with an experienced player who can do a review of hings done well or otherwise.

Who went shop'n for noobs? lol, j/k
Shouldn't say anything, I remember the first time I played axis.
Unfortunately the community will not be able to draw any useful data from this game because the skill levels are at different ends of the spectrum. Althought it could be a poster game to show axis players what 'not' to do. Thus, a learning too for some. [8|]

Seems the Germans are in trouble here. Nice defense though, and good AAR.

When you toss a game up on the server you get what ya get [:)]

I mainly did the AAR because of the different opening that somewhat coincided with the threads about the Lvow pocket being overpowered.

It has turned out into something of a list of examples of what not to do which can be summed up with 4 main points:

1) Blowing people off the line turn one is in general not a good thing. Any positive advance you may get will be lost when the routed units come back to haunt you.

2) Do not create a Lvow pocket or reinforce the south and you will run into the historical issues that AGS ran into. I have another game going where there was a Lvow pocket but no Panzer reinforcements and AGS is in big trouble in that game as well.

3) Panzers are for dancing not fighting.

4) Guard your flanks from Soviet leakers and dont leave random Soviet divisions in your rear without properly screening them.

I believe our game is the only one left from back when the game started that still has active AARs. We probably should have stopped a long time ago with all these patches we have been through [:D]

Turn 6 start - He pushed forward but now has consolidated 1st Pz. The Panzers however are weak and many show CVs of 4 or 5. He is also paying closer attention to his flanks.

6 center - He has 4 hexes over the river and some very strong gassed up Panzers ready to strike.

6 North - Pskov falls and 4th Pz makes progress towards the Luga line. I turned on forts to show just how different forts are now. Some of these divisions have been in place since turn 1 and as you can see the fort line is rather sporadic. In the past by now there would have been a wall of level 2 and 3 forts.

Northern front is in pretty good shape however and his infantry is several turns away from closing in for deliberate attacks.

Casualties top 1 million for the Soviets. I have tossed away a lot of divisions in the name of rear area raids and flank raids to slow him down which is worth the trade off. The next few turns will be bloody. His tank losses appear to be high.

Lot of busted Axis aircraft as well.

I think it is just a matter of time before this German gives up the ghost.
