"March madness"

Post by Callistrid »

T39 Don front

The Western the Volkhov front start assaulting the german troops near east fron Sumy. Only 6 german div hold the line, with minimal german inf support. Sadly but there can't be found any major objectives, why is important to fight there.

Around the Donbass, I belive I did a great mistake. I start fighting with the germans, hold, and reinforce my lines was a silly idea, because it's extreemly risky, because the HQ builded germans could encircle many of my troops.
Well some deliberate attack was succesfull, and 100 german pz was destroyed.

"March madness"

Post by Callistrid »

T40 South

The german attack seems to be stopped. Next turn will be the last german march turn, so I belive Kamil won't do any dangerous maneuver, like encicling my troops, or move deeper into my lines.
The soviet counterattack from E Stalino push back some german div's, causing them 80+ tank damage. One german pz div retreat with only 9 tank, after several battles.

This sector suffer the german major attack, but the casulties are acceptable for me.

T40 Bryansk

The german spearhead drive south, giving up to flank Moscow from Kaluga.
However, the german counterattack stop my Bryansk offense what I launched last turn, and push me back to the starting point.

40 Overview

Here is my loose statistic, OOB, and production screen.
Since I evacuated most of my arm factories, I produce more armament, then manpower.

The german pz damage are also heavy, since the begin of march the german had lost more then 500 armor, and his motorized divs are heavily exhausted.

So I feel, the "March Madness" is not really a madness, If the soviet not running, with his full forces aganst the german during the winter.

T41 Overview

The german break my lines on the Crimean peninsula, so the minimal soviet forces start the retreat. They did a great job, because 6 soviet div, and 3 brigade block the most of the rumanian army, and 3 german div since august 1941.

On the other fronts, 70 % of the soviet army move back more than 10 hex, to refit, and incease their morale. The first line troops just hold their position, and before the good weather will come, they start retreating.

My summer strategy will be to defend the difficult terrarian around Leningrad, and Moscow, but on south retreat back to the Don-river, where I build the defense line there. I will not fight in the empty, clear terrarian against the german motorized troops. Of course I will change my strategy if the german focus on Moscow.

I sent the full soviet airpower to the reserve.

42 - German attack, and soviet counterattack

Post by Callistrid »

T47 Leningrad

Two panzer army attack on the Leningrad area with 16+ mot division. The fortification, and the difficult terrarian slow them, and give me a chance to build a strong line on the northen side of Luga river.

Well the Leningrad Front has the most unexperienced, low morale troops, but I'm not care about. I belive Kamil just waste his troops here, because his panzer troops could be more usefull on other fronts, for example on south area.

The red line shows the front line before the german attack.

T47 South I.

The soviet tank corps with 45+ MP just encircle the hungarian troops. Kamil must keep his eyes on the front line, because the 3 stack unit defense strategy is extremly dangerous against the soviet tank corps.

The soviet army attack german divs with minor succes (one succesful, one not).

T47 South II.

On the T46 the soviet front line troops retreat back from the geran infantry divisions. So when the good weather had arrive only the german motorized troops could attack the soviets.
After several succesfull, and unsuccesfull german attack, the soviet counteroffense 7 german pz div had encircled. The bad news I have a minimal chance to eliminate some of them, but the full south german motorized divisions will try to break the encirclement on T49. So I know what will Kamil do with his pz troops on T49, plus those fights weaken the german troops, weakening his general attack on 42 summer.

Wow very nice job.

I would say your stronger then average coming out of winter and hes clearly weaker.

He also picked two areas that will not help him come spring or summer.

I can see pushing for Leningrad with best infantry army and a tank corp. My guess is he did not keep any infantry in back so he doesn't have any real infantry hitting power.

If he had committed the same armor in south as north it would be a far different story at Stalino area.

I would not give up the south to much as there are more manpower pts then Leningrad and Moscow together.

But your over all plan is very sound and you should be able to start pushing for Moscow during 42/43 winter.

Very good job during 1941 you held the manpower centers.

Kamil had to retreat to save morale and men.

Very good job over all.

Soviet general attack

Post by Callistrid »

T49 South

During the mud, the soviet can't destroy any german panzer div, so on T49 Kamil counterattack south, and after he break my lines, 3 inf div, and a tank corps had been encircled.
On my turn, I start a major counterattack, and 5 well equiped, and trainded front start attacking the german front. The result was draw, several deliberate attack was succesfull, but several not. But the german pz/mot units had been beated, and most of them had only 2-4 CV. Sadly but the encircles coviet units can't break out.

I belive the german summer offense will be less strong.

On T49 I've lost 700 planes, the german 250.

T49 Leningrad

The german continue his attack with minimal succes. I belive Kamil will cancel his attack, after the south crisis.

I have two question:

1. When will be the next clear turn after T49?
2. How can upgrade my toops to have the guard status?

on number 2 that should be through having enough victories with a specific unit. After that, they will automatically flip to guards.

T54 German attack, and soviet counterattack.

After the german pz moves, the soviet forces on the full south front leave their deep defense line, and prepare the T55 general attack.
On south, neat the Azov sea, two soviez Pz army brak the german lines, and establish a major bridgehead on the Mius river. Other troops move closer to the front line.

On the northen part the soviet start a counterattack against the full german Pz armies, and sacrifice several tank corps to slow the attack.

T54 Statistic

My fighter pilots are superb, in air battles they fight against the german pilots with 1,5:1 ratio (sometimes 2:1).
When we start the game we deal with Kamil on 1 airbase attack/turn. I belive the german airpower can be defeated in 42.

I produce more armament then I need, so huge arms in the pool.

T56

Hard fights, the german air, and tank casulties are extreemly high. Just like the soviet.
I belive several soviet tank corps won't survive the summer battles.

Kamil wasted allot of good troops trying for Leningrad to early.

That bubble is a huge gamble. I think he could have easly pocketed 20 to 30 units alrdy.

If you play that thrust wrong you will be hurting, but so will he if you could cut the base if even for a turn.

You won the summer, dont waste your advantage with letting him get a huge pocket.
