Hi everyone,
We are probably looking at about a week from today for the next public beta, which should include some very nice improvements for you all. Thanks for your patience. [8D]

Regards,
- Erik

Thank you. I was worried we would have to go back to harassing IGard, Data, and Eshummel1... fun though that is... [:D]

Okay TJ.......better watch your cargo bays! [:-]

... sadly, have no cool cargo bays / guardians to boast about, so I'll just post a boring question: Does the "next public beta" mean that version 1.707 will be moved into release stage, and you will then be working on 1.708 as beta, or does it mean that the current beta will be updated and that 1.706 is still the current release form? (I'm scared of betas and have not tried any since 2009 after being burnt hard by Stardock's handling of Elemental's beta process).
Thank you for your time

Ha,
mine main Cargo bay is defended by Ancient Guardrian so you do not have a chance to robe it. Here is the guardrian image: Image

LOL! Nalim.....Data would give him a shave! You should have seen what he had done to
Igard's Reman Warrior (who was supposed to be guarding Igard's Cargo Bay) at my
galactic birthday party!

Sorry to repeat here, but I am not understanding: I see hints of "the upcoming 1.709" update, e.g. here by Elliotg, but 1.706 is still the official release. Is there going to be a 1.707 soon (whenever that is), or will it be directly to 1.709? thank you

The numbering is usually for version control. So if 1.706 is the current stable release then the next change would be 1.707. This was released as a beta for testing so the actual number is '1.707beta' or similar. If 1.709 is the next beta release then it means 1.708 would have been a version generated by and for the devs for internal testing but not released. Hope that makes sense. :)

Yes, thank you very much. I was referring to a release version. The current release version is 1.706. Will 1.707 then be "finalized" and released, or will that all sort of go into 1.709? As I posted above (page 3), I have been burnt badly with beta before and have thus not installed any beta products for 2 years now.

My experience with betas on this game is that they are still usually better than the last release.

Yeah, as Jalapen0 said, the beta releases for DW have been an improvement each time. Soon after 1.7.0.6 came out there were a few issues that needed correction and these were quickly placed in 1.7.0.7beta. If the beta releases are already up to 1.7.0.9beta then there won't be a 1.7.0.7 final version. Most likely there will be a handfull of betas and then the next release will be around the 1.7.0.12 number is my guess.

If you are unsure whether a beta version will be good to play or not just wait a couple of days and read the comments. :)

The beta's are fine for me - infact I recommend them as 9/10 they have important features/updates that make the game run smoother

I am confused. The mention of a 1.709b suggests there was a 1.708b which I have not seen nor can I find it in the members section. Am I missing something. I am using 1.707b and it seems to be working fine, though I eagerly await the next update or beta with hopefully some changes in ship design mechanics. (I Hope, I hope!)

Am I lost or is 1.7.0.7 beta the last one that was released?

1.7.0.7b is the release we plebs are playing. :) If there is a 1.7.0.8 and 1.7.0.9 then that is currently with the developers.
