New Game?

Hannibal: Rome and Carthage in the Second Punic War is a new and innovative turn-based strategy game that puts you in command of the Carthaginian military during a period of total war over land and sea with the young Roman Republic. With this military juggernaut of the ancient world at your disposal, you will vie for control over Italy, Carthage, Spain and the Mediterranean Sea using a combination of strategic political maneuvering and sheer tactical skill both on land and sea. Play consists of two layers; the first is a strategic layer where you must prudently steer your forces to the destruction of Rome’s army and the ultimate destruction of the Republic and city itself. At your disposal are a variety of unit types and historical commanders from which to form your armies. On the tactical scale, when meeting the enemy in battle, skilled leadership and a knack for war come into play as you use a simple but engaging battle system to best your opponents.

Looking forward to this new game. Hannibal was great and left me wanting more after I finally solved it.

I don't have a date yet. I am trying to raise some new capital in order to work on "The Fall of Rome" full-time at least until Electric Games gets started on a follow-up to "Napoleon." I expect to work on that project as a contractor.

What game mechanics from "Napoleon" in particular would you like to see used in other games? [:)]

I haven't dared getting any Napoleonic games lately. To many disappointments in the past.

Although I am considering getting back into the time period soon.

But I still hope that your next release will be available for Christmas.

Well, I am back to working on Fall of Rome (mostly) full time but I don't know if December is possible. I've been working on improving the seasonal changes in the game's map and while that is mostly chrome it needed to be done. I hope to post improved screen shots at the end of this week.

Thanks for the continued interest!

I have posted a couple of new screenshots on my website (www.forcedmarchgames.com). It's nothing too exciting, really. The shots taken during the Winter season now show the proper winter map effects. There's a nice shot of Britannia with Hadrian's Wall during Autumn. 3 of the others are unchanged.

As I wrote a few days ago, the seasonal effects are mostly chrome but they help a little. And the game is progressing.

The game will focus on the period from about 100 A.D. to 500 A.D. I am not sure about a release date but I am working on it (mostly) full time.

Thanks for asking!

you plan add multiplayer battles where you choose your troops and battle cards or random battle cards and troops? and ad pictures as victory and glory (for troops and cards)?

I plan to have some capability for custom battles, including battle cards. I don't see any reason not to have a random choice as well.

The cards themselves will be text like the cards in "Hannibal." Mostly that is because they will be "Option Cards" rather than the "Event Cards" in "Napoleon."

I'd like to add as many nice illustrations as "Napoleon" has but that might be hard to duplicate. Certainly I will do what I can, but I plan to focus on this a little later in the development process.

So will walls and cities change depending on what age is played?

I see two basic problems that game covers such a long era:
1-it divided in multiple campins for example,Trajan wars, aurelio wars, aurelian restore war, etc? its better divided it than a long campaign:
2-legions of rome evolve evolved over the time, we see this change acrros time? we see legions of aurelian (diocleciano too) (we have segementata armor and 5500 mens. or times of constantin, when legions are more smaller in men and have other tactics and armors?
pd:i would to like see pictures with legions with segementata armour [:)]

Nice map, Orm. I don't know how I missed it before now. [:(]

Yes, walls and cities will change depending on the period. The intended function of some of the Roman limes are still debated by historians (and enthusiasts) so it may be hard to satisfy everyone. But, I'll try. [:)]

I agree that shorter scenarios have better focus than a long campaign.

I do want to include the effects of change in equipment and tactics. We'll definitely see the reforms of Diocletian and Constantine represented in the game.

As for seeing the lorica segmentata in detail, I like the idea of that as well. [:)]
