The battle starts as both armies let loose with their artillery. The Japanese opt for the bigger 105mms which have a fair killing and suppressing quality while the USMC choose 75 Pack howitzers, with its fast ROF but smaller warhead.

The Marines quickly seize 2 groups of the Jpanese VHes, come and get them back heheheeheh :D

All right, if you insist.
Let's start with the ones in the middle with all those Stuarts on top...

BTW Could you check your fast arty setting, please? Didn't get to see the prelim bombardment.

Fast arty is off, and has been since our last battle :)

Nothing much happens this turn, the USMC moves forward, a dozen !150mm! rounds smash on my Stuarts up the hill.

Didn't hurt them much :(
More Stuarts spotted in the southeast, they'll receive the Imperial army's attention shortly.
Meanwhile Japanese infantry is advancing across the entire front, goosestepping those pesky75mm shells the marines insist on throwing.;)

Noticed something strange when shelling those Stuarts some more: A jeep mortar firing counterbattery  Message flashed by too quickly to see exactly what happened, but I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to do that.

A Type 92 tankette is destroyed this turn. A few cavalry units are spotted and fired upon but no casualties :)

Smoke fires from the Japanese 150s... Getting ready for an assaulT? Some of those stuarts hit by the 150s last turn won't rally and flee

It's gonna rain 75s hehehehe

Wrong button
Stuarts visible across the board now, not a lot else. Makes me wish I'd brought more (and bigger) guns...Guess I'll make do with kamikaze assault squads ;)

The Sa-to tank is destroyed, along with a scout squad. Japanese artillery punish me greatly though as half a dozen marines are killed by heavy 105s and the bigger ones (I forgot what kind)

81mms also fall directly on my Stuarts

Anyone know how you say "Aim below the turret" in Japanese?
I just can't get my troops to understand. they just nod and smile a lot and start pounding the thickest armor on those Stuarts:mad:
This turn they met with some succes, though. One destroyed, one decrewed and one with suspension damage.

Things should be getting interesting on the flanks soon as well. Spotted some raiders and more Stuarts in the north and pounded some more on those seen earlier in the south. Wonder what's on that hill beyond the rice paddy....

Not a very good turn for me... A Stuart is destroyed by a... Lo and Behold! A Stuart with a Japanese flag draped on it!!! Grrrrr. That Stuart has been de-crewed however. I also decimate a cavalry squad.

To the middle that single Sa-To covering your VHes has been hit around 3 times with the 37mm but still survives

Heavy artillery scares a few of my men away.

That's at least 6 tanks firing at that Sa-to AA
May take a while to clear that hill...
Meanwhile in the south a cavalry squad avenges their lost brethren, assaulting a Stuart four (!) times before it's destroyed. A second squad doesn't do so well and is now stuck in the open.
Made contact with US forces in the north, lobbed some shells their way.
I can also report the first japanese casualty by artillery :(
Friendly fire, your pesky 75mm might as well be firing smoke.
Those mortar jeeps are another matter. They're counterbattering my OB again

I don't know what's happening with that jeep thing, I don't even have a jeep in my whole army!!!

Anyways, I de-crew that other Stuart down south. It seems that Sa-To crew couldn't take the heat huh? hehehehe. That cavalry squad that charged one of my Stuarts is now dead. The other is fleeing as fast as its horses could take it.

To the north the battle is intense as Japanese marines outclass USMC paratroopers in jungle warfare. Stuarts compensate and push back the Japs hehehehe :D

**** artillery is pouring down again, 105s and 150s... Grrrrrr

If you didn't bring it, then what's causing that puff of smoke near your home VHs? You don't have to answer that, I'll get a closer look soon enough ;)

The next wave of cavaly charges in,with little succes.
Initially suprised by a lot of infantry, they called up some help...
Two minutes later they're having roasted long pig for lunch :D
One Stuart near the middle dies by triple 25mm, more are damaged by mortar fire.
Up north, the americans are beaten back with ease, with the exception of some more those bloody Stuarts. Only destroyed one of them.

Your 75s finally managed to actually have an effect, putting two men out of action. Bound to happen at some point, with the number of shells fired every turn.

The USMC hold the lines. They are dismayed however with the Japanese infantry, especially their Marines. They are much better equipped! Knee mortars and everything. Why didn't the Ordinance department think of this??

Anyways, fairly good turn, lots and lots of Japanese casualties. A cavalry LMG squad is finished, so is an SNLF squad (won't surrender, I literally had to use the .30 cal to the last man), a Type 90 FG and its Mule Pack and a Type 92 Tankette.

The lines North are messy but holding. 2 Sa-Tos are sighted.

75mms support the line up north by pounding the Japanese infantry with a whole lot of light shells, hope they did some good :)BTW I have 1 60mm mortar but no jeeps :)

Fighting is getting more intense in the north. A scout patrol bumps into some raiders, infantry shot up by Stuarts some more, but they're fighting back, assaulting the tin boxes. One is destroyed after being immobilized after some friendly fire :D
The helpful shooter is badly damaged in return by Sa-To, which also kills the crew of a third. Things look a bit static near the VHs.

The Sa-Tos are less effectiv in the centre, one destroyed, one damaged, tying to stop the advancing Stuarts. Hopefully my mortars will slow them down some.

In the south things are looking better. Two more Stuarts die of some carefully applied jellied gasoline  A third one close by is badly damaged by it's japanes counterpart. Hopefully the emains will be worth salvaging next turn ;)

2 Type 92 tankettes are destroyed in the middle. (I don't think they contribute much anyways.)

An SNLF HQ squad is wiped out in the North

Japanese cavalry to the south is decimated by the marines. I can just see the horsemen flying through the air. :D

Jap artillery pound my lines, causing much death and suppression. I hope my Stuarts hold.

PTankettes are targets first, mobile MG second. As there's not a lot of infantry to use them against, they only have one job left

The cavalry in the south is doing what it's supposed to: locating enemy troops. I see you got your squads lined up nicely ;)
They also killed the crew of a previously damaged tank.
One of my german(?) toys blindly tears into them, causing lots of casualties. Close by another Stuart mirror battle takes place after persuading some marines to go away. Well, not much of a battle,
The yankee's main gun jams and everyone dies shortly after.
A mass of Stuarts is still holding the central hill, but not for much longer, I think.
Infantry is still holding in the north, giving as good as they get.
Just a little annoyed that tank crew survived..

More arty. Even managed to take out some 75mm, I think :D

The action continues as 2 Sa-Tos are destroyed up North by my immobilized Stuart. A third Sa-To in the middle is also destroyed.

The whole Japanese line is pushed back with the exception down south where a Stuart is ambushed by a flame tank and a Jap Stuart. Luckily the flames do little and the 37mm shell bounces off the side turret. The Stuart retreats post haste. :D

60mm mortar smashes into the other Sa-To hiding up north. I can't use the 75mms on them, too inaccurate, hope the 60mm was some good :D

A Sa-To far up North is destroyed by a Stuart

Near the Northern VHes, several Japanese squads are pushed back.

The fighting in the middle is bloody and vicious this turn. A Sa-To and a Flame tank is destroyed, a SNLF squad and a SNLF HQ is totally wiped out. A Stuart is left in a less than desirable position however and I expect it to be destroyed next turn. The crew's fault... they won't rally...

The USMC is holding.

75mms smash Japanese lines in the middle.

Jap artillery is surprisingly quiet this turn.
