Pres. Roosevelt: So, how are going the things in the Phillipines?
Sec. Hull: Our airforce is doing badly, they lost more 50 aircraft to naval bombardment and failed to sink even one ship, it seems it was a mistake to send all those aicraft to the Far East. Survivors were ordered to fly to China. On the other hand, our submarines sunk a Japanese heavy cruisers while our artillery also sunk a destroyer.
Pres. Roosevelt: These are indeed good news, buth what about plan Or@#@##$ (censored)
Sec, Hull: We need more transport ships to #$%%$$###$%% censored. However, tanks and aircraft are already reaching @#$$##$% censored. And a 4 engine bomber fleet is being built in order to attack the Japanese home islands.
Pres. Roosevelt: As far we control Manila....otherwise, we will need bigger bombers to reach these targets. Btw, is that true that the Japanese Nells have a range close to 2000km?
Sec. Hull: This seems to be true, but the plane is very fragile, no more than a flying fuel tank. Their range is actually limited by the range of escorting fighters. I don´t think our carriers are at ris....
Pres.: Shhhhhhh......don´t say this word, the enemy might been spying on us
Sec. Hull: Sorry....it remembers be something I forgot to tell you.......hmmm...right...the Japanese seems to have developed a new fighter. Our military advisors took some photos and the intel is analysing them. Looks like a bigger Nate with retractable landing gear.
Pres. Roosevelt: These are not good news...

.........NEWS FLASH......Pacific theater.......Japanese army GHQ
Our glorious forces have made their first landings in the Philippines with the capture of one of the outlying Islands, with airfield. Our advance in the Northern China has come to a stand still, with our forces on the defensive. Our southern front is achieving it's goals and then some. Our naval patrol planes are keeping a watchful eye towards the ocean for any signs of U.S.imperialist dogs, so that our naval forces can once and for all end their so called supremacy of the sea's.
Our intelligence forces in the US have informed us of a new bomber, so we will have to keep a watchful eye for these monsters of the air. Our intel forces have also captured a spy who gave out information regarding our newest fighter level 3, that subject has been shot for treason.

A midst the diplomatic fury and events of Europe, there is one News Paper that covers it all. On the backpages (not reproduced on this sceenpost) is the news that Norway has allied with Britain. France has made peace with the Soviet Union, and that German Night fighters are now so effective that they shoot down whatever the British send bombing over the Reich at night.... However one piece of news trumps all that... Front page:

........NEWS FLASH......Japanese Army GHQ...........
U.S. subs sighted off Philippine coast, Imperial Navy surrounded and sunk them with the loss of none for our forces. Larger fleet sent south to bombard southern Philippine city into submission which was a success. Northern front, still on the defensive, while the southern front continues to see our victorious forces moving ever so closer to our ultimate objective.
Since the U.S. wants to play by sending their subs to try and cut our supply lines, we have a little surprise for them as well. Hint.....suicide units preparing for attack on mainland U.S. or is it Hawaii, or is it Guam don't know but they are there in hiding.......
To our brothers in arms in Germany, we have your back, continue the fight against the allies and may your victory be one which will instill fear in our enemies and see them submit before our might.

US News:
We captured an enemy spy working in the President Cabinet, it seems he was sending records of meetings between Pres. Roosevelt and Sec. Hull. It won´t happen anymore.
On the other news:
Chinese troops inflicted heavy casualties to Japanese armies in the North. Hundreds od artilery pices were destroyed by Chinese advancing troops.
American patrol aicraft are working together to hunt enemy units in the Pacific. Japan has lost 4 more submarines this turn.
American B-18´s flying from Chinese airfields attacked enemy armoured formation in the South. At least 20 enemy tanks were destroyed.
The President sent a message to the heroic soldiers in the Phillipines. Keep your positions, because help is coming soon...

News from Germany: (Sorry readers, no screenpost this time, but next time, i promise)
Le Havre has fallen and Paris is within sight of the German panzers. And as if that isn´t going to be headache enough for the French... Italy just declared war on them... The Italian papers are reporting that they took the French completely by surprise, and have beaten back everything from Lyon to Marseille. They even got to attempt an attack on Marseille itself, but it held, just...
Also Djibouti in africa has fallen to Italian forces, and Tunis is nearly surrounded. Both Tunis and Alexandria were shelled, and Tunis was bombed from the air as well...
Oh and Italy has formally requested to join the alliance of Germany and Japan.

RE: GD 1938 v 2, testgame
Letting everyone down eh ? Well heres a Britain and France AAR from the beginning to date:
England: Took 1 turn to assess the overall strategic situation, had my entire game victory conditions decided for me, randomly. Having some fun getting Portugal and Norway on my side, using aircraft to good advantage for the time being. Lots of navy to use playing endless whack a mole with German invincisubs. Watching France get steamrolled. Sorry France, sucks to be you. Japan told me to stay out of the way and they would leave me alone for a while, sounded good to me. Got some good advice from Bombur on how and what and where to produce things. Overall the British are fairly strong.
France: Decided on survival as an overall goal. Not such a good choice but none of the others seemed any better. Got war declared on me because Germany and Russia decided to gulp down Poland without even pausing to chew. Oh joy. France is very weak. Lots of useless and unproductive colonial stuff strewn about the globe haphazardly. Waited for the germans to attack me, waited some more. Got bored and started attacking them. Of course I started losing even when just shelling them from the Maginot. I actually lost Maginot units to German counter battery fire. I tried to get the Spanish on my side, hoping that someday I could retreat from the Germans into Spain. It never happened. Got bored again, finally the Germans attacked me and tossed my units around like a rag doll. About to lose everything, oh joy.
So, now you're up to date.

There is a small pocket of French resistance just below Paris. Brest is still holding out, and so is Nantes. The rest is German / Italian
