Yes it's complicated, but it's complicated (rule wise) in ways that are fairly intuitive, and that's its strength. If you are obsessive about winning or always min maxing every thing you do, then WiF may end up being too steep of a learning curve for you. But if you are comfortable doing one or two playthroughs without min maxing everything, you'll find that units move about the way you expect, combats resolve about how you would expect them too, supply works more or less how you think it should, etc..

And then once you have a handle on the flow of game play, you can start working on the specifics - exactly how far can this mech unit move on a rail line through mountains in the snow? etc...

Ooo... a flurry of responses.

Thank you all for that. I feel more comfortable about my decision to get WIF now. I will try to find places for all of you in the New World Order although I might have to keep a close eye on Warspite1.

Numdydar, nice article there. Thank you.

Best wishes,
Steve

She Who Must Be Obeyed

I presented my wife with a "done deal." I ordered the game (books, disc, and download), then mentioned to her, "Guess what you bought me for Christmas, dear?"

Fortunately, I survived the experience.
There is no overkill. There is only "open fire" and "reloading."

Hmm, too smart to fall into a trap like that no matter how fiendish.
Darn! Now I have to think out another plan. [:D]

Maybe I can play neutral and get away with it. [:)]

For all those hoping for places in my army of minions, the selection process is quite simple.

If you have legs like these....

... then you have a very good chance.

As usual you try to fool us!

And I could have fallen for this sham if I had not managed to get a hold of a picture of Mr Warspite and Mrs Warspite when they work out. Unfortunately the photographer missed taking a picture of Mrs Warspite's face but her legs show clearly.

I'm with Orm on this one and, Warspite1, I hope Mrs W does not have access to your computer. If she does, it might be wise to keep everything sharp and throwable out of her reach.

Best wishes,
Steve

That's not me between her legs Ormster. How can you tell? Well my weapon is much bigger than that obviously...[:)]

Sadly Mrs W's legs are more like the first picture than the second [:D]

The gaming tin stands at £18 and there are 172 weeks of freedom left for you to enjoy.

I have hired a few minions to increase the security around the gaming tin...

Did you take into account the fact that you don't have to pay shipping costs anymore? That means we have quite a couple of week less to prepare for your new world order...

No need to pay for shipping costs? When did that happen?

Since a week ago you can buy a download version only. Same cost for the game but you do not have to pay for shipping and customs.

Ah, yes. But I want the books. They are lovely books. I love books. I want to hold them. I want to smell them. I want the books! I want to take them to bed with me so that can I read them at my leisure into the early hours of the morning.
