China:

Loyang: the KMT stack loses over 100 squads in deliberate attack. Bombardment ordered for tomorrow.

Near Nanyang: the cut-off KMT stack has 1100 AV!!!! The deliberate attack of course doesnt go too well. Adhacent hex has a fresh IJ division and the terrain is clear so they still get mauled badly every day. More Chinese units approach the "bombing grounds" from the West.


Burma: Ki-43s sweep Pegu and today's score is 2-0 for the IJ. 3 cut-off British units approach Moulmein from the South(they left Tavoy into IJ hands a week ago) marching along the coast. IJ reinforcements units will need to take care of these, plus theres a company in pursuit already.

Malaya: IJ arrives at Johore Bahru!

DEI: Kendari falls!!! Airfield is in really bad shape though and needs repairs. Only naval search aircraft were flown in today. A-24s and Hudsons attack withdrawing IJ fleet. 3 Hudsons are shot down. One large xAK will probably go down and become the only loss of the operation.

Kendari deliberate attack drops forts to 0 and destroys 4 squads while losing 10 as disabled. Going well so far.


South Pacific: 2 xAKs go down from damage suffered from CD guns. KB finds nothing to attack, now South of New Caledonia.

Submarines: a USN submarine hits 4 mines at Fusan and goes down. [:)]

Home Islands: well well, whos this? IJN defensive fleet that is the CarDiv III sorties and air units are prepared. Thats over 100 Netties plus assorted other strike aircraft and some 150 fighters(training units). They could be just some small ships that have escaped the PI area but I doubt it. Some USN CVs are almost for sure near Christmas Island and another force probably East of Hawaii as I-23 was sighted by planes today, so my bet is on surface raider group.

Also near Batavia a CL Sqdn under LRCAP finally finds the Dutch PT boats and destroys 1 of them. Dutch air units attack the IJN force the 5th or 6th time already and this time manage to lose 15 of their number to no IJ loss. IJAAF gets its first fighter aces as 3 Ki-43 pilots score their 5th kills. At the same time 2 pilots of the Yamada Det score their 9th kills. 20 pilots of the Yamada Detachment share 71 kills between them. The Group has only lost 3 pilots, and I think 1 or 2 of those in landing accidents lol. I really dont understand why these Dutch strike aircraft are not preserved until the eventual landings at Java where they could be used to attack xAKs and such and not destroyers under fighter umbrella.

China: the meatgrinder in the northern front keeps going. The KMT does not countered the weaker and weakened IJ army near Nanyang but keeps retreating. IJ air attacks today are even stronger than before, as a new Ki-21 unit arrived the theater yesterday. Chinese SB bombers hit Kanhisien but dont do much. Lets see if I can gather fighters to maybe ambush them tomorrow.

Burma: Blenheims bomb IJ advancing IJ troops(no hits) and Ki-21s bomb the waiting British with moderate damage. Forts cant be very high.

Malaya: IJA arrives to Kota Bahru(which is now occupied) with 330 AV. I need a division more before we enter the city proper.

DEI: xAK hurt by A-24s yesterday is sunk. Sorong invaded!

South Pacific: Carriers still dont find anything to attack. They'll be heading home now.

Home Islands: the Allied TF sighted yesterday causes some TFs to retreat away from it during the night phase but search aircraft dont find it in the day. If it went East, the CarDiv III can possibly make the contact tomorrow. Some air search coverage is ordered for the sea East of Formosa.

Submarines: USN sub finds IJ SAG at Port Moresby but misses its 4 torps.

I also notised that all this time the one size-150 oil well in Manchuria has been just sitting there without supplies. It starts half repaired. 9680 oil points wasted because I didnt remember that over 10k supplies arent automatically drawn in if there are factories in need or repairs. Yet I've made sure that everywhere else where needed I have 15-20k supplies. Doh.

Brunei has been used an an oil port for a while now. We have F1M squadron looking for subs, Ki-43s flying CAP in the case someone wants to bomb the oil wells at Miri, a big minefield also at Brunei(no tender yet, I have about 20 of them still converting) and a dedicated surface ASW unit of 2 sub chasers. Oil and fuel gets shippied to Cam Ranh Bay in escorted capacity 1250 tankers and from there to Kyushu on bigger ones with the fast long-range PCs for escorts. Aerial ASW all the way plus a gauntlet of surface ASW, mass air search, a dedicated AASW squadron(still training partly) and minefields in some certain shallow hexes near Kyushu. A USN sub just sailed through a mine trap but got away with it. I hope it'll return .[:)]

China: KMT Corps routed from Kanhisien. Very heavy casualties - it cant be much more than a skeleton crew any more.

Burma: RAF doesnt want to fight in the air but bombs advancing IJA troops - frustratingly just 10 Blenheims manage to fully destroy 1 squad. IJAAF's own strike goes well too and disables some 15 squads. River crossing in 2 days.

Malaya: One of the 3 cut-off British forces surrender!!!

China: Liuchow had enemy fighters yesterday and a CAP-trap is anticipated, so the short ranged bombers were stood down and long ranged ones given closer but less important targets. Over Kanhisien Ki-44 prototypes and Ki-27s ambush Chinese bombers and shoot down 3! The Chinese stack in Loyang hex is in real trouble as today it loses over 40 squads for just 2 or 3 disabled IJA. Near Sinyang the massive KMT stack is bombarded and is probably low on supply as theres no counter-battery fire and some squads are destroyed. It still has over 1000 raw AV, but is more or less doomed...

Burma: IJA storms over the river to Pegu and routs the enemy. BANZAI!!!

Notice all the losses! Forts were 2 but they were lowered to 0 by the engineers! This enemy force had not been routed before so considering that the losses are especially impressive. Allies wanted advanced defenses and that strategy just failed.

Also notice the 17th Indian Division. Is this a unit that needs to be bought out from India, or can it be combined from smaller units like the 1st Burma Div?

The cherry on the top of the victory is 9 Blenheims that attempted another bombing run on IJ troops but faced a low altitude CAP of 14 Ki-43s. All 9 were shot down for 1 lost Ki-43(pilot survived).


Malaya: the 2 British pockets take more losses. Weather grounds the bombers.

In vanilla the Burma troops are all junk, worse than RTA! Although, if you give them 6 months r and r & start to upgrade their units they get better. Still, they are better off dead and killing the AA is always good. [:)]

China: mass bombings and artillery bombardments are quickly consuming the 2 pockets. They used to have over 1700 AV together, but theres barely 1200 left.

Burma: everything the Allies have in Burma is now retreating!!! I'll try to drop the paratroopers to Prome but some of them are still being flown back from Port Blair. Only 28 AV's worth of them ready at Bangkok. They'll be dropped on the 24th no matter what - I dont want those divisions to escape!

DEI: Allied recon aircraft over Brunei. Dunno why Brunei is reconed and not Miri, if the Allies are preparing an attack.

PI: IJ infantry regiment an a tank unit start loading aboard transports. They will be assaulting Ambon together with 2 other regiments within 5 days!

Burma: British forces in full retreat! The independent tank regiment may be able to pocket the troops retreating from Rangoon and delay for a while once it gets to Toungoo. If they choose to retreat towards Akyab instead of trying to use the rails, they will be bombed for a month...

DEI: A-24s strike Ternate again. Zeros and BBs' AA fire destroy 6! 139WHs strike Tarakan too but Zero-LRCAP from Jolo shoots down all 3.

South Pacific: Ndeni invaded! No defenders - that Catalina squadron and whatever it was that support it must have been evacuated recently. 10 days ago probably.

Home Islands: CarDiv III finds the raiders and attacks them: its CL Raleigh and AMC Prince Henry! Raleigh is hit with a bomb and a torpedo near Haha-Jima. Several surface combat units led by CLs are sent after them.

China: 54th Sentai Detachment received Ki-43-Ic. The Chinese have deployed a couple of fighter squadrons ahead which has made me change bombing targets... IJAAF will start the sweeps to Liuchow, Sian and a couple of other places within the week in an attempt to attrit the enemy enough to allow the bomber force to hit the best targets again.

Burma: Imperial Guards enter Rangoon!!

Malaya: the pocket near Alor Star surrenders! Thats about 120 inf squads + 2 support units.

DEI: Tandjoesenglor invaded! This is a small 22-AV SNLF unit. Once they've taken the place they'll move to Tarakan to help the 144th Inf Reg.

South Pacific: Ndeni occupied! Reinforcements(an SNLF assault division) will arrive to Port Moresby tomorrow. The place should fall easily with them.

Central Pacific: The enemy splits the 2-ship raiding force. Burning CL Raleigh waltzes through 4 surface action groups and enters combat with the CarDiv III - both sides evading combat. By dawn its out of strike aircraft range already, heading South. [:-] It does have a very long way home though so maybe it'll succumb to the bomb and torpedo damage at some point.



Submarines: USN sub attacks xAK TF at Gasmata and sinks a small ship. Escorts hit it a couple of times though. French sub attacks IJ at Ndeni but misses its shots.

Submarines: SS KVIII attacked and sunk a small xAK near Tandjoesenglor, but the 2 PBs escorting this small amphibious TF forced it to surface and destroyed it! Thats the 2nd sub destroyed by slow PBs converted from xAKLs!

China: Kwangchowan in the South ceptured! That creates a continous Japanese-held road and for most of the part railroad from French Indochina all the way to Korea!

Burma: Rangoon DA drops forts to 1, Meiktila para-asseulted! At least 2 British units(probably aviation support both) are cut off and have to spend time unpacking and walking around. IJA armor attacks Toungoo with a Base Force unit defending - this IJ tank unit will probably kill both of these British support units. IJAAF bombers hit the retreating British in open terrain near Prome.

Malaya: Temuloh DA drops forts to 0 while IJAAF hits Singapore and hits it well, just 1 bomber is lost!

DEI: Ambon invasion D minus 1. 8 Hudsons attack IJN BB SAG at Kendari, all 8 get shot down by Zeros.

South Pacific: Port Moresby DA drops forts to 0 and kills off 2 tiny infantry units!

Central Pacific: CL Yahagi in pursuit of CL Raleigh, now SE of Marcus Island. Looks like its heading directly towards Midway at a slowish speed. Some submarines nearby are sent to wait the Raleigh along the route. I'm starting to really like this Yahagi, it was the first vessel to spot the raiders and 7 days later its still managing to stay in the contact thanks to the very high cruising speed and 4 search aircraft. It has missed surface action at least twice now, it may have even been in the same hex with the enemy, and next turn it will attempt the 3rd time to finish off the Raleigh that was hurt by IJN CarDiv III.

China: Chinese stack near Nanyang attacks in an attempt to break through the lines... But fails miserably. IJ attack in Loyang kills off a lot of KMT troops. These 2 used-to-be very large KMT stacks are in trouble!

Burma: Toungoo captured! Rangoon DA drops forts to 0. Cut-off British troops attacked in Moulmein - they'll be destroyed in a week. 2 base forces and an infantry battalion.

Malaya: -

DEI: Padang falls on Sumatra, and Ambon is invaded!!!! The landings go fairly smoothly with BB Kongo evading torpedoes and just 2 merchants receiving DC gun hits. The last of the 3 forces will unload next turn. Zeros swept Ambon and shot down 2 of the 3 Buffalos flying CAP.

South Pacific for the 2nd day the reinforcement amphib. TF ignored my orders and continues to unload. The unloading was stopped and it was ordered to move away!! Instead of 1 xAK this force will lose 2 xAK and probably an AMC. PM deliberate attack reaches only 1:2 and suffers more than the enemy. I have over twice the AV, better exp, best leaders there are and air support but the troops cant get the job done despite 0 forts.

Central Pacific: CL Yahagi eludes torps from a USN submarine that lays in ambush in the middle of nowhere... And then finds CL Raleigh and takes her out!

Home Islands and Formosa: about 30 AMC finish their conversion and are sent to various ports.

Submarines: IJN sub duds on a large TK near Horn Island, another IJN sub duds on AD Black Hawk near Darwin. RN sub gets pummeled by IJN ASW near Palembang(no direct hits), USN sub misses CL Yahagi(Wake Island is closest base hex) and a Dutch subs misses BB Kongo near Ambon.

In Loyang theres just 1 KMT unit left now. Chinese bombers sortie to a target they probably think is outside the IJAAF fighter range... Well they're wrong.

Burma: Rangoon falls!!!! IJ paratroopers reach Mandalay and the Paratroop-Tank co-operation is probably going to hit hard 3 small British units before they can withdraw. Rangoon's defenders retreat to Bassein so we might be able to retreat them once or twice still!

In Timor Sea CarDiv III destroys 2 PC that escort AD Black Hawk. G3Ms from Kendari destroy an AVP.


South Pacific: The TF sighted 2 days ago was CVL Charlotte!! Her strike wing hit IJN SAG at Ndeni and hit a CA. Damage is minor however and the force will withdraw now. The IJNAF Aviation Coy has been unloaded more or less safely. Deliberate attack in Port Moresby doesnt achieve much but at least the losses favor IJ.

Submarines: A French sub hits the other AMC unloading troops at Ndeni and it will be lost to the fires tomorrow... But first it will kamikaze towards the carrier TF to hopefully make them react away from the CAs. IJN sub destroys an xAK on the NE coast of Australia.

Aircraft Production: A6M3 will enter production tomorrow! It'll start from 0 though as the Ki-36 factory will convert to it. A6M3b will become available in April so the M3 will only be built for 60 days, so only 40 to 50 will be built depending on dice rolls.

China: Nanyang pocket considerably reduced in 2 days. In the South, a large KMT force has retreated across the river towards Changsha. South of Wuchow I'm looking to stabilize the front for now and fill the areas where the KMT has withdrawn from, while I will keep bombing every clear, rough and wood (terrain bonus 0 or max 2) where I find Chinese troops. Theres a couple of cities with clear terrain that they have to keep garrisoned - perfect bomber targets! Far in the North near Paotow 2 IJ cavalry bridages and an infantry regiment retreat a Chinese corps in rough terrain. They're in pursuit.

Burma: IJ armor reaches Meiktila while the 1st Burma Division and accompanying support units get bombed by both IJAAF and IJNAF bombers in Bassein daily. I wont let the British retreat without taking additional losses.

Malaya: -

DEI: Heavy air, ASW and surface action forces protect Palembang and the seas around it as the merchant and tanker fleet starts to extract fuel. Smaller tankers to Cam Ranh Bay, larger ones directly to Kyushu. CarDiv II withdraws to refuel. The base near Makassar will be invaded tomorrow, hopefully protected by a nearby CA SAG, under IJNAF fighter umbrella and bomber threat from Kendari... Makassar gets bombed on the 1st and a Hudson is destroyed on the ground.

Also the operation to invade Samarinda and Balikpapan is a go. I'll be using relatively light force here.

Paratrooper regiment has been refit at Davao and is loaded aboard transports bound to Kendari - from there they'll be dropped to their target by Navy transport aircraft.


South Pacific: USN CVL TF withdraws. IJN carriers sit at a distance as more engineers, aviation support, supplies and support ships unload in the Guadalcanal-Tulagi area. First Zero unit is flown to Tassafaronga.

Submarines: USN sub destroys an ASW PB near Jaluit but is also hit itself. Another USN sub hit near Lae.

China: Near Sian, there are now 64,000 IJA troops in the stacking limit 65,000 hex. Deliberate attack ordered for tomorrow with 1710 AV available. Chinese had 40,000 men here a couple of days ago but they have been moving in more. I have 3 tank units nearby that will get here in a week, last one within 2 weeks, and also 2 free 100% fresh infantry divisions that I will rotate in once the number of disabled squads start rising. Some of the Chinese units defending here are most probably the same ones IJA has already retreated at least once, some twice, plus some of them did a failed shock attack against the IJ near Loyang. IJA also has a couple of free regiments + of course the whole force that is destroying the KMT pocket near Nanyang. I dont think the Chinese can rotate their units nor do they have the supply to keep holding bombardments, aerial bombing and deliberate attacks every other day for more than a month maybe.

Burma: IJA tank regiment routs the 3 units defending Meiktila and opens the road to Mandalay and the paratroopers again. The British get routed to Magwe so they can possibly be later destroyed completely by encirclement and aerial bombing. IJAAF and IJNAF bombers keep mauling the retreating British in Prome and Bassein. The first 2/3 of Imperial Guards + 2 artillery units reach the hex North of Rangoon and thus cut off the railway to the retreated defenders of Rangoon. They'll be in the open and get bombed for a long time still before they can reach the rough jungle terrain.

Malaya: -

DEI: Watampone invaded! From here, the troops will walk to the apparently very lightly garrisoned Makassar. 3 Hudsons attack the unloading fleet from there but get shot down by Zeros. A Zero pilot scores his 9th kill. What a waste of good planes!

South Pacific: -

Submarines: IJN sub scores a DUD on a large xAK near Lord Howe Island. These duds are getting annoying... The torpedos have a dud rate of only 10% but I guess at least 1/3 of successful IJN sub attacks have resulted in only duds. On xAKs and xAKLs, on TKs, even one on a heavy cruiser. USN sub destroys an AK near Truk. The AK had been damaged 1½ months earlier during the invasion of Wake and was supposed to repair the major floatation damage at Truk. Another USN sub hit by ASW near Jaluit.
