The French will do a Combined in order to get troops from the Empire - specifically Syria and Algeria back to defend France itself.

The French might want to leave the Algerian unit in place (unless it's one of the hefty ones) to prevent or slow down Italian shenanigans.

Also, I didn't see you mention the BEF debarking in France, which is good - that means it's available to land in Rotterdam or Antwerp, or in Denmark.

The CW did a naval so there was no debark. The troops are currently at sea

For Impulse 3 the Germans are allowed to declare war on other powers. I am told that a good idea is to take Denmark, and so that is what I shall do. At the start of the impulse each power is asked if they want to declare war on major or minor powers.

I click on Denmark with Germany.

There is no US penalty as the die thrown was 8 and it would have needed to be 3 or less for a Chit to be drawn.

There are no land units to set up for Denmark - I believe the single Militia counter is only available from 1940.

The Japanese start moving their forces west, taking Chengchow without any US Entry penalty.

The Germans begin their invasion of Denmark. It is a non-event. King Christian X decides that, given the disparity in forces, resistance would be futile. After the briefest of engagements, the German 3rd Infantry Division enters Copenhagen. Peder Skram flees to Frederikshaven as it does not have the range to flee to the UK.

The 46th Motorised Corps then sweeps north to Frederikshaven to try and catch the whole Danish fleet. In the subsequent throws the Germans are pretty unlucky. One convoy counter becomes German, one is destroyed, while the remaining four convoy points and the two coastal battleships flee to the UK

Meanwhile, back in Poland, the Germans, hampered somewhat by the weather, move up to assault the two remaining Polish cities west of the NS Pact border.

The Germans have two choices; attack both cities at low odds this turn, or take their time and attack Lodz first and (hopefully) Warsaw next impulse.

They sensibly opt for the latter approach.

The odds are 4:1 +1. There is a -1 odds shift for the weather and a -1 to the dice as I am using the Blitz Bonus rule and attacking a 2-3 factory hex.

The CW naturally chose the Assault Table....

...its a 10(11) and lodz falls to the wehrmacht in emphatic style.......

The Finns are aligned with Germany and set up to cover Helsinki. I wondered whether I should cover the resource at Petsamo or not. I did in the end and hope that was the right decision.

The Soviet Navy - well one battleship, Marat (all that is allowed under a combined) - sails for the Baltic.

The Soviets move into Eastern Poland - another US Entry Chit is withdrawn! The Allies will need to be a bit circumspect from now on...

On the Finnish Front Timoshenko's forces move into Finland proper to stop the Germans from being able to finish the war.

Gort lands first and his reorganisation value of 2 means that two further CW units can be placed in France. If the CW want anymore reinforcement for France, they will have to build and send over another HQ.

And so another impulse ends. The weather is thrown for again and this time its a 1 - its Fine everywhere and the Impulse Advance goes back to 1.
