RE: New Units for PC

Post by R35 »

Thank you for the new units!
I will consolidate the list above and remove all the units that have already been done.
I do not know, I can not start the official campaign, because I installed the scenario Karaganov. But I will check it on another computer, and I will write you tomorrow.
I don`t want you to go through all that trouble because of this. Maybe someone else can confirm it. For me at least, without the Africa Korps expansion installed, the bigunits/info cards stay the same (they are the main ones, the european version of the units). If that is the case for everyone I will propose that H.Balck only makes the battle cards for the desert and winter camouflage. I`m hoping this would save work and development time. If the developers enable the matching bigunits cards with a later version we can add the info cards then.

Well, this was somewhat unexpected, but it`s nice to have the full range of belgian armour and I think the new colour looks much better than the orange one.

If it`s not too much of an effort maybe you can add a Vickers Carden Loyd utility B tractor. There`s a picture on the right towards the end of the article here:
http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/b ... _Tanks.php

What happens to the Belgian FT-17 btw? I was thinking to drop the unit from the game. This user`s comment on this article:
http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/b ... _Tanks.php
seems to suggest that by the time of the German invasion there were no FT serving as tanks anymore:
There were no Char canon or Char Mitrailleuse Renault FT in service anymore in 1939. Those that were not scrapped yet were stored at Sint-Denijs Westrem in an army depot. Some of them though were reactivated to serve as tractors to move Eléments Cointet (anti-tank barrage steel obstacles).
Also, the comment here says the same thing:
http://tank-photographs.s3-website-eu-w ... -tank.html
Same text on wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgian_c ... rld_War_II
I don`t think we need a FT-17 for Belgium anymore.

Thank you!

Does anyone know the speed of the Chevrolet RD and the Vickers Carden Loyd Utility B tractor (the one the Belgians used for their infantry)? Also, if I understand correctly, the utility tractor (the infantry version anyway) had some armour. Any idea how thick it was?

Someone in this forum say

the 1936 Vickers Carden-loyd Utility Tractor front sloped plate was "1/4-inch steel plate" I.E. not armourplate

@T2_2112 taking graphics from other games is not an option. For obvious reasons...

Thanks! I`ll leave it unarmoured then.

Is this unit meant for France too? As far as I know, only France used it, but that looks more like the new Belgian camouflage than the French one. Not to mention we already had a new 47mm SA 37 for France.

Thank you!

But when did it enter Belgian service? I was under the impression that the 47 mm APX anti-tank gun (I presume this is the one you`re referring to):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/47_mm_APX_anti-tank_gun
only began to enter French service right before the battle of France and was not in service with other countries apart from the captured pieces.

Is the new unit maybe meant to replace the current C.47 F.R.C. Mod.31:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/47_mm_Mod ... i-tank_gun
which we already have in game?

I need a link to know how to implement this unit.

The Minerva looks wonderful, but it wasn`t used anymore it seems. The tanks-ecyclopedia article says:
Their robust capabilities allowed some of them to remain in service until 1933-35 with Gendarmerie units.
And this article says that the last Minerva Armoured car was retired from Belgian service in 1935:

Ah, ok then. Since you`ve changed this gun to a new camouflage, could you please update the remaining 4 Belgian units that are still in the ochre colour?

I`ve made a bit of research for Bulgaria. I still insist that it should be done so we no longer have a faction that is still vanilla. The plan is just to replace the 6 units that exist in vanilla PzC. Overall, I think khaki would be an appropriate faction colour, unless someone else has better data.

Bulgarian Infantry
Bulgarian Cavalry

Here are some links with photos that might give an idea of the uniforms and equipment for the soldiers:

http://maximietteita.blogspot.ro/2015/0 ... ww-ii.html
http://ww2-weapons.com/bulgarian-armed-forces/
and here`s a helmet:
http://www.greenbulgaria.com/M36-bulgar ... 56t10.html

The cavalry seems to have had khaki uniforms. Scroll down to "Bulgaria - Cavalry Colonel":
http://stukasoverstalingrad.blogspot.ro ... rms-z.html
and also at the bottom of this page:

Artillery:

Rheinmetall 105mm L/30 gun

http://forum.axishistory.com/download/f ... ?id=201962
http://forum.axishistory.com/download/f ... ?id=207666

Anti-tank:

Skoda 37mm vz 37
http://svsm.org/gallery/37mm_skoda/P1260591
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3,7cm_KP%C3%9AV_vz._37
It was more numerous than the German 37mm PAK 35/36 it seems (second post):
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 2&t=159902
And it was also used by Yugoslavia so if you make this model we can later on adapt it for Yugoslavia too.

Transport:

Horse Transport

If you want to make a truck too you could make an Opel Blitz in Bulgarian colours.

I think the infantryman looks great. Nice texture on the helmet btw. And I like you also made him a moustache. :D

Ok, I`ll include the Minerva.

EDIT: btw, judging from the photos of equipment found in the Bulgarian Museum of Military History, the guns can also be painted with a khaki like colour. Which would help distinguish them from other neighboring nations like Greece and Romania which have green guns.
